ICC T20 World Cup (2026): Sri Lanka squad announced

Sri Lanka have announced their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with all-rounder Dasun Shanaka taking charge as skipper.

Shanaka had been announced as their skipper in the preliminary squad that was released in December.

The squad features a strong core of white-ball experience in the form of Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka.

Middle-order is pretty weak. Will be pretty reliant on Nissanka and Hasaranga.

Their recent losses to Zimbabwe were against sides that did not have Pathirana and generally weren't at their strongest

These teams can upset SL just like USA upset PAK because the T20 format is volatile but SL start overwhelming favourites against every team except Australia in this group

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has approved Pramod Madushan as a replacement for Eshan Malinga in the Sri Lanka squad.

Madushan, a medium-fast bowler who has played 13 ODIs and eight T20Is, was named as a replacement after Malinga was ruled out following a shoulder injury sustained during the bilateral T20I against England on 1 February.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee (ETC) before the player can be officially added to the squad.

Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the #T20WorldCup after an MRI scan on Tuesday revealed a serious tear in his left hamstring

He will likely be replaced in Sri Lanka's squad by fellow legspin-bowling allrounder Dushan Hemantha
