Adihetty gone for 51 well done for the youngster against the Pakistani pacers.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO stumping is the worst way to go. Good batting by the 15 year old. He'll be back for 2 more world u-19 world cups.

Hope Washington Sundar does not waste too many balls to get going. Need to up the ante now.

Should get his eye in for 6 overs. then slog

Just getting off the strike (through singles) with each ball should do the trick. He has the issue in rotating the strike, gets stuck in playing too many dot balls.

They are young hopefully can improve.

Mostly not, we had an 18 year old hitting 50 vs Australia at the SR of 120 in the 2011 WC. Faced the likes of Lee, Johnson and Tait. He opened too, then probably got poached by an Elite division team, batted at an unfamiliar position and then probably never got better. At least the WI is allowing 1 team consisting of Us and Canada(AMERICAS) to participate as a LIST A and a FC team in the WI. So that is ok. Bagai and Cheema are playing in the MCL, Dutta played in CPL and BPL. Things are looking okayish for now. Will take some time to improve. This year they started an FC system with 6 teams, lets see how that goes.

Sri lanka and India, both teams are in a bit of trouble here.

Afghanistan may sneak a win vs Lanka but Lanka probably have some quality spinners. India too will want to choke Kiwis with spin

Although Jaffer looks much better and fitter.

Not even close. He wasn't in the probables but only included after scoring heavily in the Cooch Behar Trophy. He had a few lean years after that 400 while Sarfaraz has been blazing his way through in age group cricket & then in U19 internationals now for 2-3 years. Also has a Ranji 150 to his name.

really am impressed with the consistency of asalanka. hopefully he will be ready to step in in 2 years time.

This is better from jaffer and Lohmor. Scoring singles off each ball and not getting bogged down with dots.

Is he the overweight kid ? Or is it the other kid Ashan ? Or are the both overweight ?

not sure if u will understand it but ashan is the one in the lighter shirt. asalanka is wearing the sunnies.

wouldn't call ashan fat anymore but he is well built. he'll have to watch his weight cos he is naturally going to have a bigger build.

both could do with a proper workout regime though.

both look overweight for their age and from where they are from. Has the potential to become more fat. LOL SL players and "workout" don't go well together.

I meant the way he plays his shots are better than that of Sarfraz, although Sarfraz has more power.

Indians win these tournaments so often because their players are intelligent, at one point India's RR was less than 3 but now they have managed to bring it up. Anything over 230+ is a good total at the under-19 level.

Canada should only aim for moral victory and post a score that looks like they weren't pounded too hard. Got 9 overs, 4 wickets in hand, should look to get closer to 190 than try to go all haywire and fold for 160.

India last lost a match in U19 in 2014 in WC. Since then we haven't lost a single match. What else you need?

the performance in these two matches is not as dominating as you would like to see..
Nepal bowling ran thru Ireland, while we couldnt even finish them

Batting top order seem good but not great. Sarfaraz coming to rescue in both games

Correct but a champion need not be dominating always. It needs to find ways to win in difficult positions. India always manages to do so. But you do have a point.

Hope Abraash khan scores another 50 today, it will send ICC a message that there are talents that cricket just cannot let it die out.

ashan is from a lower middle class family but was recruited by a big school after their exploits so he is probably being fed reasonably well. in any case he is not from poverty, lankan poor is very different to indian poor.

ashan is just genetically predisposed have a bigger build. i think he looks good considering what he used to look.

no issue with aslanka except that he needs a bit of toning. these are growing kids still.

Canadians being a paindu, two run outs at lower order, not good. Every run matters.

Was afraid this might happen Dravid is teaching them to play tests instead of LOIs running between wickets sin't that impressive at all.

I know, poor is a poor. Average SL person is more malnourished than an Indian person, from what i've seen.

Abraas Khan :out for 44, scored 93* in the last match. Canada 164/9. Not enough wickets in hand :(.

that's just ridiculously incorrect. indian poverty is well over 10%. it's not even close. what are u basing this on? i have seen slums as big as colombo when i was travelling in a train from chennai to kolkatta. in any case a fisherman makes a decent living in sl. u have little or no idea about what u are saying.

Poorest of the poor don't play cricket. Max you are going to get is a kid from a lower middle class. Why are you talking about India ? India will probably never produce a poor cricketer for a while. They will only get upper middle class players representing their national team, unless they are bowlers. No point in bringing India for no reason.

Honestly, India has been rusty over here. Against NZ as well as Ireland. Top order has struggled barring Sarfaraz

Not sure if this is a Pak forum, no Paks supporting their team vs Canada?

i brought it up india because u used to live in channai after moving from sl? can i ask when u have last been in sl?

sri lanka is a middle income country that will be a high income country by 2020. a basic fisherman salary would be well well over the average income.

u are making it sound as if this kid is from some slum and wouldnt have had enough to eat growing up. it's offensive. he's the son of a fisherman but that doesn't mean he was living in the streets.

PAkistan U19s need to pay attention to their Run Rate because it seems like Afghans will beat SL today

Pakistan need 179 to win. Sri Lanka batting first on this wicket scored 300+ against Canada.

Afghanistan 185 to win against Sri Lanka. They were bowled for 126 against Pakistan.

Nepal need 132 to win. Should do it easily. If India beat New Zealand. Nepal and India will be through to quaterfinals.

Mostly will choke to spin bowling and flight, but considering how good their 17 and 21 year old spinners are in their senior team, SL should be considered. Would like to see NZ lose and see Nepal move up to the next round.

Its a shame that ICC only telecasts matches involving Big 3. No TV coverage leads to no interest

It is not the ICC but the Broadcasters, they only show the matches with enough demand and scope of making money.
