Almost Every Indian U19 player :srt looks overage. Even if BD manage to reach final and lose to India, I don't regret. Cause I know who's the real 'Under' 19 champion here.

Haha looks like its the common theme running among Bangladesh fans. Is the BD media also reporting this? I am sure they are.

BTW your team is yet to reach the finals..so hold onto your horses before hailing them as 'real champions'.

Also, 60% of the team is around 17 or below, will be eligible to play another u-19 WC. Guys like Ishan Kishan, Lomror, Arman Jaffer, Washington Sundar, Rahul Batham, Zeeshan Ansari can all play in the next U-19 WC.

Glad to know BD fans are ready with an excuse hope you don't lose to Windies so that excuse doesn't work brothers.

It is not a jab but I have never come across a mature bangaldeshi fan online, every nation has trolls but it seems bangaldesh has no sane poster, every single bangladeshi online I have seen is immature and childish

Even a foreign Poster has the same opinion with me that India U19s are not Under..19s. So your Jab at BD fans are wrong.

But India has mandatory bone tests conducted by BCCI right from age 16 players

If they lose to the Windies, sharmaji will claim Bangladesh are the real "non-mankad Under-19" champions:asif

Ufff you are giving too much explanation. You dont expect them to understand bone tests and all now, dont you. Its like explaining a 5th class student about Pythagoras theory. Lets entertain our fellow BD fans and accept all our players are overage.

Indian kids who make it to their world cup u-19 team are mostly city bred and all city bred kids have birth certificates issued by municipalities. Kids in India (and not just those playing sports) have to produce birth certificates issued by municipalities for things like getting admissions in school etc. It is unlikely that overage kids will manage to dodge all the screening stages to get selected in international u-19 stage. Veryifying the age of youngsters is quite a simple radiological process and such age cheating is not possible in India these days.

Perhaps you are expecting Indian Under-19 players to look like Mushfiqur Rahim. U-19 cricketers of other countries do not necessarily have to be under 5 feet tall and weigh below 50 KG. The physical standards of under 19 cricketers in rest of the world is much higher.

I refrain from commenting in here about the topic of Indian players age while some posters was bashing Anik Sharma for his doubt. Honestly I have no complain about the age difference. This Indian side is really good and probably gonna win this WC. But to be honest I too think there are some players who clearly are overage.

Age fraud is not uncommon in India like other subcontinant team! I am qouting this from a reputed Indian newspaper.... "There have also been murmurs that a few Indian players in the same event hardly look, or actually are, below 19 years of age."

If looks were more credible than bone tests, Mushfiqur Rahim would still be playing U-19 cricket.

First Anik is not posting his doubts but his judgements second Dravid doesn't want everything to be pushed under the carpet which is the difference between Bangla and India here.

Also in Dravid's home state and some other states Birth certificates are accepted only if its within 2 years of the birth and most check with school certificates and passports as well now.

Prepare a list of all those who have played for India in U-19 WCss in the last 12-14 years, you will find 50% of them lose their way and do not even get to play Ranji Trophy and this at a time when, unlike previous decades, there are enough coaches to guide and help you. And this was happening before IPL came into existence. IPL does give them cushion of some easy money, but those who are willing to work hard continue doing so irrespective of the money they make at IPL.

I actually went through each U 19 world cup for India, and definitely see a drop in the number of players who have had at-least some success at the international scene after the 2008 U19 WC. At an average we've had 2-3 players who have had some sort of international success (not necessarily Yuvi/Kohli/Kaif level) with India. And a 3-4 others have had successful domestic careers.

The numbers were at its peak for the 2004 and 2006 teams, where 5 and 4 players respectively have had some success at the international level. A few more also went on to have (and are still having) successful domestic careers. But, since 2008, the number for cricketers who've had some success at international level is declining. Though, the number of domestic cricketers has remained pretty similar. This would indicate that players are still getting opportunities at the domestic level, and consequently at the IPL level, but have been unable to overcome the barriers to have a good international career. Also, you need to take into account that the Indian team post 2011 has had significant changes in both its Test and ODI squads.

Are they already satisfied earning good amounts in the IPL? To me that seems to be the main issue. What would happen if they received this amount a couple of years later?

Just caught up the highlights of NEpal Pakistan match and Liaquat guy looks a much pacier bowler than Sameen Gul

I have seen this kid, and impressive pace he has got. Don't know why he didn't get much chance.

Half, if not more than half of the team for every Asian team is over the age, may be Sri Lankans are a bit better, while Afghans & Nepalese had robbed the age restriction.

The solution Dulip suggested is the way forward. Bunking age was a problem in 1st/western world as well - they solved it professionally. I wrote it somewhere in past.

In Professional sports, they imposed a minimum age for players to sign professional contracts (players can represent National/club teams under that age). In European soccer, it's 18 years; in North American Franchise leagues 19, Formula One 21, Golf 19, Tennis 16 ...... Before that, players are eligible for a token retainer-ship, that too under a legal guardian.

There are some classic examples how this works - Kobe was drafted direct from High School at 18 by Lakers - for 1st year, he played for less than $50K/year in 1997 (Born in August, NBA season starts from November). Next year, he was given 1st professional contract - 5 years for $58mn. Sterling came to Liverpool at 16, for a token amount, school, accommodation & a job for his single mother - at 18 (born in Dec), he signed 1st contract with Liverpool $60K/week, which was updated to $150K/week next year - in 6 months time, that kid left for Man City for $300K+/week, with additional bonus & Sheikh Mansoor paying good part of his tax. There are many such examples - Luis Hamilton, Vetel, Sharapova, Fabregus, Ronie O'Sullivan, Derek Jeter, Anthony Martial - these were boy wonders - bunking couple of years could have cost them between 10 to 25M US$.

Yes when you have an elephant like Sarfaraz Khan in your team it says a lot about your physical standards.

Mushfiqur may be short but he is fit and strong.

He has bigger biceps than Lara.

Bangladeshi "fans" have the biggest mouths than the fans of all other teams.

lol, such an absurd logic to compare biceps of 46 years old vs. 27 years old.
