ICC World Cup 2023: India (192/3) inflict a humiliating 7 wicket win over Pakistan (191)

Phenomenal win. A proper thumping! All boxes checked. Hitman is my MOM because if terrific captaincy and batting. This Indian team is rolling

Well done india. Outstanding performance.

Not over for us yet. Chin up. We can still make semis.

Commiseration guys. Bit of an anti climax. That's okay. Pakistan takes on Bengaluru in Australia. If they go at sixer less power play on that ground it will be a mistake

While crowd chanting Vande Mataram. What an atmosphere. England and it's hobbit crowds and boring fans simply don't compare.

Too many weak links in the Pakistani team. Preperations for the WC were very poor. We were over estimated our abilities and level by playing minnows, C, D teams and are now getting a very brutal reality check.

There are zero answers

Oh c'mon Bumrah?? Gotto be Hitman surely for captaincy and batting

We got no chance vs Aussies haha.

Have zero faith vs them.

We can beat nz and England though. I am confident about those 2.

Listening to the Indian interviews of Bumrah and Kuldeep shows the meticulous planning and reading of conditions.

This is one of the biggest things missing in our game.

deserved victory for India

One other difference I noticed.

As soon as Pakistan were 5 down, Rohit brought
Broskie, you're dealing with the biggest troll on the history of cricket forumns. This guy wants attention. I suggest people stop giving it to him.

Congrats on the win BTW. I've been forwarding NZ, SA, India and Eng as seminfinalists and NZ and India as wc finalists.

No Pak?

You are selling Pakistan a bit short.

If Pakistan bat 2nd vs Australia, Eng or NZ I reckon we can win those matches.

Batting first I agree we will come undone.

It's just the pressure. Sure Indian team right now have an overall better skilled setup and players than Pakistan, but this hasn't been always the case.

Even back in the 90s with a much superior team skill wise than India Pakistan has lost matches against India in the World Cup.

Today Babar and Rizwan did well to handle the pressure and were going alright in their game but suddenly a wicket falls and the floodgates of pressure comes in. Players succumb to it and then it's the unfolding of a story of a wicket, one after another.

Bowling performance wise it's what it is and you can see the superior team (India) batting wise. Not enough score to defend on this pitch of course.

We talk about small and associate teams not being able to soak in and deliver in the most critical of pressure based situations. But, at some point pressure does get to you as an individual, let alone a sportsman. I guess for Pakistan it's the big India v Pakistan game. Some individuals cope better with it. Others not so much.

There have been instances recently like the Champions Trophy 2017, or the World T20 2021 match against India. Where more individuals in the Pakistani side got hold on to things and overcame to put the opposition under-pressure.

This is the same team and Rizwan that did well in the last match. The team did a record run-chase and today's result doesn't nullify the fact that this team has the skill to deliver a decent performance own its day.

I just think today was the case of inability of pressure handling by the batters that came after Babar's wicket.

At the end of the day it's just a Cricket match. Nothing less, nothing more. Its better to think it this way, as to not let yourself get into the emotions of things.

Australia have had two tough games to start and look weaker than usual but I'd expect them to pummel this Pakistan side. The gulf is massive
I don't think so. They look completely depleted side with a lose of confidence. Pakistan does have a better overall team and today was just a case of a collapse thanks to the inability of handling the pressure of such a big game.

Cricket not that simple.

Chasing 280 has a different pressure to chasing 192.
Honestly this sounds like the classic "Who will bell the cat" type of scenario. Yes 80 runs might have been good. But while we are dreaming why not 150 more runs ?

The fact is India prised out those 8 wickets with some really brilliant bowling. Except for Ifti chacha, and maybe Hasan Ali, rest all were out to excellent balls.

A must win for Pakistan coming up against Aussies in Benguluru. Any lapse there will put tremendous pressure on Pakistan to qualify for semis.

Never in the history of any sport has the crowd been one sided. The fear Pakistan instills meant Pakistan fans were denied entry at the government level so to ensure the atmosphere and support was rigged.

One more Reality check for Pakistan. They won two matches against qualifying teams and their fans were so overconfident.

India showed team their real place 😂😂

Misbah was right about this Pakistan team, they got their number 1 ranking by playing against minnows and B, C teams.

Most overhyped team currently with most overrated bowling attack and one dimensional batsmans.

Since the asia cup I've been saying India, NZ, Eng and SA

Eng maybe, depends on their bazzball nature, their too unpredictable, but on most cases with this spin line up, they'll bazzball Bully us. Unless we play usama, we'll get tonked.

Congratulations to India. They started poor but handled the situation cleverly. Pakistan on the other hand did not have any experienced batter after Babar and Rizwan to assess the situation and take game to the 50th over. 250-270 on this pitch would have been a par score and India might have struggled a bit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our bowling and yet another Rohit special.

Bro, it's not about him being better then rizzu or anyone. He is not a better bat because Pakistan is too busy caring about no 1 ranks, or averages.

We crushed the acc Asia cup and under him literally everyone was striking just like how India is striking now whereas in babar's Reign, zero pp 1 sixes lol.

All those guys have talent and if groomed properly will be match winners cause they all play for the team and are beyond aggressive in their approach.

If you bring them now they'll get crushed obviously, but their groomable. Did NZ panic when they lost 4-1 against us?

These rankings and wanting people to be miracle workers is what caused our downfall.

Sachin took 70 innings to be impactful, rohit was a failure for years, even babar on debut is lucky to face a crap attack cause the guy couldn't rotate strike, hit boundaries or stand still at the crease for the life of him and Babar now 7 years later is a class and fine bat despite having a it of a poor outing recently, he is still quality and class.

I rate haris high, because he can turn from a hack to a class bat if groomed and he actually has an aggressive and leading mindset.

One captain won us the asia cup, the other finished dead last. One captain got us the highest rr, the other lowest, and one captain had the best pp sixes and made sure no one was a stat padding accumulator, the other captain makes sure Pakistan is never utilising the first power play.
No way hurraira is a parchi he showed that in last 2 quiad e azam season

They lack confidence atm but the Pakistan game could just be the game that brings them back into it. In terms of ability they should have no problem dealing against this team

Really? Are you sure?

India thrash nz in tests if they play in india every time I have seen them play. Don't even recall kiwis winning a test in India?

In odi too, I don't ever recall them winning a series in India.
Check India vs NZ in ICC events. Too many heart aches

Bro at this ground India will chase 270 within 40 overs. We had no chance today no matter how well we performed. Batting first was confirmed loss.

Confidence gaining is a different thing. Can happen at any game. Can shatter at any game. But ability and resources wise. This Australian team is very much in a hole. Maybe Head's inclusion will change their fortunes.

But for now. Pakistan looks a better team against them.

I said only he should be replaced by saud in a previous post.
If u can read right u clearly mentioned Imam
As a crickete fan i think u guys should support him he is a great talent..
Even we in india follow his batting

Oh wow. Rizwan got out the same way against Netherlands.

India produced an enormous seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in Ahmedabad, wrapping up the dominant victory with 117 balls to spare.

Pakistan lost eight wickets for 36 runs as they collapsed from 155/2 to 191 all out, before Rohit Sharma’s outstanding 86 helped steer his team to victory.

Five Indian bowlers were among the wickets, all taking two apiece, with Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav sparking the collapse with superb spells, after Mohammed Siraj had prised out the key wicket of Babar Azam.

Babar top-scored with a fine half-century, his first in ODIs against India, but needed to captain spectacularly and hope for brilliance from his bowlers to deny India in their chase of such a relatively low target.

And Rohit’s sublime knock at the top of the order made India’s reply extremely comfortable, with Shreyas Iyer bringing up his own half-century with the winning runs.

Match 12: Pakistan 191 (42.5 overs) vs India 192/3 (30.3 overs)

The first half of this hugely-anticipated match was where the result was effectively decided.

India captain Rohit won the toss in front of a huge home crowd and elected to bowl first, with the tournament hosts making one change to their playing XI, with a now-fit Shubman Gill coming into the XI in place of Ishan Kishan.

But Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq got Pakistan’s innings off to a fast start, targeting the bowling of Siraj particularly while remaining largely watchful against Bumrah from the other end.

The pair had put on 41 in eight overs before Siraj hit back, having Shafique trapped lbw for 20. And his opening partner was back in the hutch after the powerplay when he edged behind off Hardik Pandya.

With the scoring rate still reasonably high and Pakistan’s big-name pair at the crease, there was still plenty of hope for a big first-innings score, particularly after Babar got among runs pretty quickly, hitting three fours against Hardik Pandya in his first 10 balls.

Babar and Mohammad Rizwan gave Pakistan the platform from which they would have hoped to have reached a sizeable score, with their partnership of 82 helping the total up to 155/2.

But the captain fell just moments after reaching his first ODI half-century in matches against India, cleaned up by a beauty from Siraj that rattled into the top of off stump.

Babar’s departure proved the turning point as Pakistan collapsed, with Kuldeep striking twice to remove Saud Shakeel (6) and Iftikhar Ahmed (4) in the same over.

While Shakeel was trapped lbw, Iftikhar was cleaned up while trying to sweep a wrong 'un.

Sensing the chance to wrap things up quickly, Rohit brought Bumrah back into the attack, and it worked like a charm.

First he cleaned up the set Rizwan one short of a half-century, with a slow off-cutter doing the trick. And in his very next over, Bumrah got one to land on the surface and curve in towards Shadab Khan's off-stump, cleaning up the batter in the process.

Ravindra Jadeja wrapped things up by removing Hasan Ali and Haris Rauf as Pakistan slid to a disappointing total of just 191.

Of the six Indian bowlers used, only Shardul Thakur was not amongst the wickets, with Bumrah, Siraj, Pandya, Yadav and Jadeja all taking two.

India made a rapid start to their reply, with Rohit finding the boundary off the very first ball of the innings, and the returning Gill putting Hasan Ali to the sword with three fours in four balls in the second over.

But Shaheen Afridi did give Pakistan a boost when he prised out the attacking Gill, who was well caught by Shadab Khan at point for 16 off 11 balls.

Wickets in the powerplay were key to Pakistan’s chances of making a game of it, but Rohit and Virat Kohli added a further 56 runs for the second wicket, with the skipper playing brilliant attacking cricket, hitting his 300th six in ODI cricket along the way.

Hasan Ali removed Kohli for 16 off 18 with just one ball of the first Powerplay remaining, but with India on 79/2 and Rohit looking superb out in the middle, the chase looked under control.

The skipper brought up his fifty off just 36 balls and had made the game all-but safe when he was dismissed for 86 from 63 balls by Afridi.

And it was Iyer who hit the winning runs for India, stroking a boundary to finish unbeaten on 53* from 62 balls, with KL Rahul 19* at the other end.

India’s seven-wicket win came with 19.3 overs still remaining, giving the tournament hosts another huge boost to their net run rate.

This was the eighth time that India and Pakistan have met at a men’s Cricket World Cup and the eighth time that India have come out on top.

Victory moves India to the top of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 table, ahead of New Zealand on net run rate, with both teams having won three from three.

Pakistan remain fourth and well in the hunt for a semi-final spot despite the disappointing nature of this defeat.

Well he was the weak link in the cup, and he is related to malik, but we'll see, hopefully I'm wrong, I want young bloods

If you can’t handle pressure of big games, then whats the point of playing.

Its not just about the home advantage which many people saying. This indian team with their skills on top will beat pakistan team badly even on lahore or pindi grounds. Our team is a pack of fan boys of virat and rohit. They cannot see anything beyond that. Moreover they are on enjoyment trip. Let me enjoy the trip and get 5 or 6 position so that babar can get satisfied and maintain his position. Pathetic pathetic!!!

I have watched Rashid latif show where he said 96 and 99 world cup Pakistan were lost even before toss due to ....... now you can understand what is im saying.
Yeah I know. Other than that there would be no reason to lose those matches vs that Indian team.

They are not in a hole in terms of ability at all. It's just they are making too many individual errors atm which I put down to the recent string of results which could turn any moment. And it's been compounded by two ruthless teams, probably the 2 strongest

I can think of maybe the spin attack being a bit depleted but neither do Pakistan on their present showing look any better in that department.

Despite his 30 odd innings, I never expect Imam to win big games. Pakistan cricket is making a reverse gear it seems.

And to be honest babar needs to be released from captaincy pressure so he could play freely as hee did in warmups
