ICC WT20 2026 : Pakistan vs India at Colombo - Discussions and postcards thread

As per reports, the match officials and Indian cricket team will reach the venue in advance for the game as per schedule to establish they participated in the match in honesty in order to receive an official walkover.

There may not be cricketing action, but there will be light practice session and some good time spent in Colombo.

During this meeting, the Indian captain told the ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi that to protest the loss of life in recent indo-pak conflicts, he will not be able to shake hands with PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi if their paths cross.

Rates for Mumbai- Colombo flights on Friday 13th are still skyhigh. Looks like folks are still hopeful of a game and holding on without canceling.

I guess if you have tickets booked then it would make sense to hold on to see if either PCB backtrack or if ICC replace them with someone else and India still travels to Colombo to play Uganda.

In the stadium, fans are sadly the least important people when it comes to cricketing decisions.

Yeah countries don't really think of the fans. Premadasa capacity is 35k? I would bet 10-15k of those would've been Indian fans hoping to travel over.

With non-refundable fares nowadays, that's a couple of million dollars in losses for the fans unless airlines suddenly turn generous. Hotels should be mostly refundable but that's like 5-10K empty rooms in Colombo for hoteliers there.

I stayed at the Cinnamon Grand the last time a visited. Lovely hotel and well located though a shade expensive. Grab it if it's going cheap. Currently rates for that weekend are still showing 4 times what they are for this upcoming weekend.

Maybe Pakistan can deliver a google? Don't say anything more till the day and then suddenly turn up half an hour before the game saying 'Our Chairman decided not to follow our Interior minister's instructions'.

Indians will probably be chilling on the beach at Galle and all the batters will be timed out!

Just get Rohit Sharma/ MSD/ Virat to play and viewership will be off the charts and more than Ind-Pak match. One way to compensate the broadcaster, dare I say broadcaster would prefer that too

This was big news in football particularly scottish football back in the day. Estonia didn't turn up to a world cup qualifier, but Scotland sitll had to take the field so that they didn't forfeit the points.



The referee blew the whistle, Scotland held the ball for 3 seconds on an empty pitch, and then the referee blew again to abandon the match.
I wonder if we will see similar scenes on the 15th so India can tick the box for the points.
