If Mohammad Amir is dropped for his Asia Cup performance, how about Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan?

Think all 3 need to be given a lesson in not assuming things for granted.

All three have not been taking as many wickets as we like and we should give all of them a warning of sorts to fix themselves or lose their place.

Amir has been rubbish for more than a year, whereas the other two are still very young and can be excused for a bad series. You cant compare them with Amir.

He's more important for us in LOI and he also needs some rest.

He's needed in Tests as well but not in UAE.

As I've said before Shadab's greater asset is with the bat given the fragility of the batting line up. He has the composure, technique and cricketing intelligence to succeed.

In ODIs he needs to bat higher, so he has time at the crease. I see his batting exceeding his bowling abilities such that he will be known as a batting all rounder in the future, but he needs the support from the management and recognise this for himself.

Given Pakistan's batting culture I wouldn't be surprised if he's still lingering down the order in years to come which would be a shame because his leg spin is nothing special.

Did Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan also take 1 wicket in 3 games against Zimbabwe?

Should we also drop Fakhar and Faheem because they didn’t score as many runs as we’d like?

I think Amir was complaining about his workload in Tests and was not interested in the format.

He is excluded because he never wanted to play Tests in the first place.

Thats the best logical explanation.

Pathetic selection again, should have selected only 15 member squad.

Hasan, Fahim, Shadab, Fakhar, Bilal, Rizwan should have been easily replaced by Zafar, Shan, Saad Ali.

Bit of a knee jerk reaction, considering Shadab was playing through an injury and everyone, even Hasan, is allowed to be out of form. Amir's performances have not been good enough for a while and with Junaid and Shaheen picking wickets, they both deserve to be picked above him.

Shadab has batted like a tailender in This Asia cup. Don’t think he is anything special with bat or ball. Bowling is mediocre and a minnow basher and his batting does not really give confidence. He is young so he can improve but not looking good at the moment.

Hasan Ali has hit a six and toke 2 wickets. Shadab toke Sharma's wicket. Amir has done nothing besides taking two Zimbabwean tail ender wickets and one of idiot Munro's wicket during NZ series in past year.

Lol are you serious?Hitting a six and taking Sharma's wicket is all that secures their spot for the next matches?

Yes it does. Amir has done absolutely nothing but wasted the new ball and created pressure on other youngsters. He is a horrible impact on the team

We shouldn't forget his batting in NZ. He has 3 half centuries in 4 tests and averages 30+ in tests and ODIs. For a 19 year old that isn't bad at all and shows he has a promising future ahead. The problem is he isn't been given the backing that he deserves.

If he bats lower down the order, he will bat like a lower order batsman. He isn't a hitter, he's a proper batsman.

Shadab Khan is 19 and has the potential to become a great Leg SPinning all rounder, why would anyone drop him after one bad series ? Hasan Ali has scary stats, it would damage his confidence if you drop him now.

Both Amir and Hassan deserve to be thrown out.Hassan hasn't done anything of note for a long time now. There should be no free rides for anyone. If Wahab can come back after facing the music,so can they!

Hasan can be thrown out too. If he wants to stay, he should play as a batsman only.

Young players are never going to develop if you throw them out at the first sign of bad form. They need to be given confidence and backing.

His batting is only suitable for the top 5 position based on his style but tbh we don’t need anonther batsman in his mound that is an accumulator and has no power game. He batted well in the England series so his batting would probably be more suited for tests but not sure about his use in the ODI side. His bowling is good enough for T20.

They've hardly played in months. I don't think this is workload related. He's dropped due to lack of performance but funny thing is he was actually pretty good in the previous test series. Regardless, he deserves this.

I agree but the likes of Shadab and Hassan have been paying more attention in adjusting their swag. They don't even field well like they used to.Hassan should have not been selected for the test squad at least so that some sense can prevail in him.

Hasan Ali can work as a number 7 batsmen with Asif Ali at 6.
I think Faheem Ashraf is good enough to hold that position!Hassan is a just handy tail ender who can hit a few big hits, nothing more than that!

There is work to do in ODIs for him I agree but I just can't see the likes of Malik and Sarfraz (if he isn't dropped) doing well in English conditions next year. But Shadab strikes me as a natural batsman who is a fast learner, so I would back him at number 5 for the time being. I could be wrong with the timing (of a year) but I do think he will be ready in the next couple of years or so to bat in that position.

In tests he should bat at 6 as a batting all rounder with Yasir and Bilal Asif as the specialist spinners in the forthcoming series against Aus. In T20Is he's a number 8.

Dropped for Asia cup?

He has been poor in ODI format since over a year. We need to be brutally honest and stop twisting the facts.

I am all for trying another spinner instead of Shadab since his batting hasn't been any good. While this was the first torunamen where Hasan was genuinely bad.

Asia cup alone isn't the reason why Amir needs to be dropped. If it were than you could make a case for Fakhar getting dropped too.

The Asia Cup was just the final nail in the coffin. Amir has been given consistent run without any good coming out of it.

He is the reason you won the CT 2017...Only Player with the X-Factor in the Pakistani Team

Feel it's too early for Shadab Khan in Test cricket. He lacks patience and overbowls the googly, when he needs to be working on his stock delivery. That'll improve playing more FC cricket bowling long spells but he has only a handful of FC matches to his name.

Amir has been terrible for over a year, and the others still performed better than him. Amir literally got 0 wickets.

It's just a horse's for courses selection.
Wahab is quicker and better at taking the pitch out of the equation

Shadab has been taking wickets, he has in the Asia Cup, Same thing with Hasan Ali but Amir on the other hand not a single wicket in the Asia Cup alone

Amir deserves to be dropped. Hassan Ali is just going through a rough patch. Shadab has a lot of work to do. He shouldn't be in the test squad. He hasn't shown enough to be front line spinner in Asian conditions. You don't need 2 leggies vs Australia. They are troubled by finger spinners which has been shown in the past.

Amir wasn't performing for the whole year while others were at least doing ok/good. Amir can easily make way for Shaheen but dropping the other two for a series will mean that we'll need other youngsters to come into the side which will affect our WC preparations, or we will need to bring back guys like Wahab as the third seamer and Hafeez in place of Shadab...

Yep, he's a #8 at very best if he really knuckles down. Ideally a #9 with a licence to swing. He doesn't have a single average above the teens in any format...

Amir can't really complain- he's shown no form for an extended period.

Abbas is moving the ball & has done well- deserves to stay.

Hassan Ali was good for a sustained period, not just random games here & there (as Amir has beensince his comeback) so has more credits in the bank for selection than Amir. Fair enough.

I haven't seen as much of Shadab's formline so if he's there in case Yasir is injured or fails badly and to learn in the meantime I'm fine with that.

Its ironic that Pakistani fans, media and management only go after their top players... If Amir and Fakhir donot perform, Pakistan cannot beat top teams, and they will see the axe first... Pakistan only chance of winning World Cup or this Asia Cup was them firing on all cylinders... If they are flat, team goes reallly flat...

There are players, who have nothing to offer, yet they are in no danger to loose their spot, that list is topped by none other than our Captain himself... What Sarfraz has done exactly for more than an year?? - He is nothing but a non playing manager

As far as Amir is concerned there is lingering injury which either he himself or management is hiding, we got a hint of it this summer about chronic knee issues... they or just Amir himself is trying to avoid solving that problem till World Cup, but now he is slowly out of World Cup anyway.... Knee injury is unfortunate, it’s usually curtains calls for express bowler....

Unfortunately Amir is the only world class bowler we had, Afridi is the other one from the lot who can take his game to top tier. Others are average fast bowlers at best, fit or not.
