I got the idea from the recent thread about world happiness report. Let's say if you are given a choice to reborn in a country of your choice, which one would you go for and Why?
I think I would prefer Denmark. Beautiful country with a rich culture and economy. Also you get to live in Greenland :)

I've been to Scandinavia, beautiful part of the world but too cold.

If the UK was warmer, there would be no other choice. But probably Thailand due it's amazing natural landscape and the friendliness of the people.

It's a very boring country! The food is bland unless you can eat pastries all day!

Atleast in India the food is varied and tasty!

At least the "whole" populace has food. Variety and Taste won't matter if you struggle to have even one meal a day.

P.S - Nothing to do with India but the SC does suffer from this problem.

Any country other then India and sub Saharan Africa. Between these two it it easily Africa. Would NEVER want to be an Indian. I'd be damned!

I am assuming you are reborn into some money as well as it's a wish list so it's a perfectly fair assumption :). If you have money then life is very good in India and Pakistan.

Just says country. Not social class. Oh yeah with money life in Pak/India is even better than Europe/America. No joke. However I always used to call it sonay ka pinjra.

Very happy with the UK personally, but otherwise it would be Ireland. My paternal ancestry is all from Northern England, however my maternal ancestry is Irish.

In order:

1. New Zealand
2. Israel
3. Japan

Probably Netherlands or the US but only a few states in the US (Cali, Mass, Washington State).

Switzerland or Sweden... West Europe in general would be fine.

Or the glorious state of California.

I’m sure there is a pattern here, but that is just a bonus :asadrauf

India/New Zealand

Other than India I would chose NZ. I don't know why but I like New Zealand.

I am guessing as my race. i.e. if in the UK, then as an British Asian?

In that case, easily the UK or Singapore.
- Very few countries where you could be who you are and not be stigmatised. Never faced discrimination in the UK, professionally or socially. Of course, I didnt attend school there, so could be a different matter.
- Singapore, because well very multicultural, and still well to do.

If as a local, then

1. France
- Love a bit of French food and wine
- Lovely geography where you have the alps and the beaches

2. Argentina
- Good food and wine
- diverse geography
- love a bit latin dancing

3. Canada
-How can you dislike Canadians?

Pakistan, as its has been suffering from an unfulfilled potential, want to see it fulfill it.

Plus all western countries have all the variety of food anyway due to multiculturalism. Come to think of it, that's something I would struggle with in a country that didn't have it, so probably rules out quite a few.

America. I'm first generation American but really wished I was 2nd...being born and raised in the US just has so many more advantages than anywhere else in the world. Americans do live in a bubble but it's the best bubble to be in...and you can only understand it once you've lived here.

Lets all be honest here. If anyone could be reborn, they would pick a country like the US, UK, etc etc. For the sake of ensuring you get the best education, best medical facilities, a government that fights for youre betterment, and ensures that you are safe as you walk at night or youre sister, wife or mother or yourself without having a doubt youre going to get robbed, raped, murdered. Now again im not saying this does not happen in the west, but more likely to happen in a poor nation/3rd world country...

New Zealand is Avery beautiful country, having been there I fell in love with the place.. Most beautiful country I have visited so far.

for me it would the collapse soviet union

because i want experience how this country came to equal usa in cold war

I would like to be born in Japan admiring their technology, Work Ethic and Bullet trains.

First World Country with an Asian feel.

Probably in the UK, in the 1940's. That way I can experience the best of cricket and music. Cricket right from Sobers's time, and music right from the Beatles's time. It's true music is everlasting, but living in those eras when my favorite bands/artists were in action would be awesome.

I don't think being born in a country matters as much as how well your family is doing financially. Poor people born in the US and other western countries live a crappy life much like poor people in India and Pak.

With modern-day travel, it is possible to just move to another country if you aren't happy with yours!

Moving to another country is not the same as being a native.

For example, we have a lot chest-thumping British Pakistanis on this forum who might be wearing the poppy on their chests with great pride, and can be found singing God Save the Queen with great zeal.

However, for the native Brits, they are still brown Pakistanis who have taken advantage of Britain’s welcoming nature. That will never change, no matter how much they identify themselves as brown angraiz.

Every country will get boring after a few years. Otherwise your family, friends and relatives should be there with you.

Such a small minded way of thinking.
Just same like the right wing parties all over europe who are fancied by a particular class of people...

Maybe people should be less concerned with what other people think of them.

All native Brits? Rather a generalisation there.

Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, or Singapore.

I just love these teeny-weeny, super-successful nation states.

Any country, as long as I was born to rich parents. Got my first pair of jeans at the age of 14. What a waste of childhood if you are not born to rich parents.

Vienna is by far the best city I've ever been to so its Austria.

No offence, but I don't think you'll want your parents reading this post of yours.

Canada or Switzerland, just places that'd seem very nice and welcoming. I do enjoy being in the UK, but sometimes it can be quite dull and bleak.
