If your team doesn't win this World Cup then which other team would you like to see lift the trophy?

I'm hoping for India to win the world cup but somehow they didn't then my 2nd favourite team is South Africa .I'm backing them to win first time so they can remove chokers tag forever.

Realistically, if Pakistan doesn’t win I’d like either New Zealand or South Africa to win.

In a dream world if Pakistan doesn’t win I’d like the biggest underdog to win - in this case the Netherlands.

New Zealand. It's a shame how they 'lost' the final in the last WC.

South Africa or NZ. Kane already won WTC so it is alright. Saffers look like they have a chance this time. Had they picked Mulder instead of Andile and still had Nortje instead of Lizaad, they might've actually seriously threatened. Used to be a serious Saffers' fan for years. I really wouldn't mind if they win it ahead of us, even.

These are the teams I’d be happy winning the World Cup if Pakistan doesn’t (almost certain)

In no particular order
England
South Africa
New Zealand
Sri Lanka

In actual fact I don’t mind who wins (even India). Just want to see good cricket

Apart fro Pakistan,
Would like to see an underdog like Netherlands win.

Realistically the least hateable one would be SA.

New Zealand is the one I will be looking for to win this one in case Pakistan doesn't.

If not Pakistan, then Australia.

My fav team and fell in love with cricket watching Gilchrist, Warne, Haydos, Mcgrath and Ponting.

South Africa, they have the most exciting middle order in the world and their bowling is still high quality despite the absence of nortje

England...my home country and a far cry from the borderline racist team of the 80s where British Asians were asked to proved their loyalty by undertaking the crappy Tebbit test...Now you actually have British Pakistanis in the national line-up that makes you proud!

If my kids start supporting (and God willing playing for) England, I will have no qualms...afterall, they see their likes playing on the field so it makes sense...

Does the older generation of British Asians not support England? I’m talking Mo Ali, Adil Rashid generation.

That's not old.... I'm 47 so lived through the 80s when their was a nasty undercurrent of racism in cricket and used by the likes of politicians like Norman Tebbit to create divisions and score points...so you ended up supporting the team of your parent's birth country...

But the point I am making is that the English team is such a great example of multiculturalism working well and seeing the likes of Mo, Adil and Rehan in the line-up, that it makes so easy to support them now...

New Zealand because they deserve an LOI trophy
England because of their brand of cricket
South Africa because of the scenes

Definitely south Africa. For all the heartbreaks they have suffered all these years they deserve atleat one trophy. Their team this time around isn't a bad one either. This might be a WC where its fought only between 2-3 teams. There are multiples teams who are capable of winning it.

maybe another time, we should explore this. i am curious about the experience of south asians living in the united kingdom during the 80s. especially those from pakistan.

I think most people would want Kiwis to win , they have done well in last two WC , specially the last one they are considered as moral winners.

New Zealand -- nicest team in cricket. Deserving of a big trophy. For a nation that is so small and cricket is not huge, their cricketers really punch above their weight. Brilliant side as well with a formidable batting lineup and in my opinion the best new ball pair in the tournament. Rooting for them and will be watching their matches alongside Pak

If babar and friends don't win then I don't want india bangladesh or Afghanistan to win either my second team would be england

My money is on NZ, otherwise India.

Either NZ or India will win, guarantee

But the question is who do you want to win if Pakistan does not

NZ : On a analytical level, they have a gun team and just like I told everyone yesterday, they were overrating England just like how everyone always underrates NZ.

However on an emotional level, still NZ, injustice was done to them in the final, the super over shpuld have been restarted. Funny how such a rule is only now implemented. Also I live in aus and I will say one thing,

Aussies are laid back but can be egotistical people, NZ people living in aus is what gives Australia the friendly land moniker. These boys are polite people and very very respectful Individuals.

They deserve to win on all fronts form team management to past trophy bad luck to even how they function as a nation.

If your team doesn’t win the World Cup, which team would you rather see lifting the trophy.

My Plan B Team is Zealand, followed by Southern Afrikaan

My 2nd fav team if Aghanistan because of Badhshah Khan followed by New Zealand

Certainly i will cheer for New Zealand. They are deserving team. For me they are the genuine champion of 2019 wc.

If Pak don’t make it, one of NZ or SA. I think a final between them would be a great watch. It’s difficult to say who I’d want to win, maybe SA, bury the chokers tag. On the other hand I’d also want NZ to win after what felt like they get screwed over in World Cup 2019.

Afghanistan, Newzealand

Do you think the Afghan fans will behave this time round for the Afg v Pak contest?

I’m scared for the Pakistan fans who’ll be there, even if it’s just 100 of them, given what’s happened in recent years. Also, they’ll have strong backing from the BJP crowd like joshila if folks like him decide to make the journey down south to Chennai

It’s important that if we see repeat of what’s happened before, let’s not turn a blind eye major this time round please.

Our intentions should be pure. Remember the meaning of Pakistan is pure land.

Did you ever go to Chennai during your time in India? I heard the doosas are good over there.

Guys! Please stay on topic and if you wish to discuss anything unrelated kindly post in the appropriate threads.

Okay. So being very honest here. If you support ind - then it's like ind 1st , then any team except pak lol. And that is being very honest. 😂Can't withstand the non stop bragging rights from pak supporters both here and in real life here in Texas lol if pak wins WC.. It's just the way it is!! And the same for pak supporters as well. Pak 1st, then any team except ind..😉

With that out of the way - my preferences after ind would be England aus bang afg. Bang just because they have such passionate supporters inspite of their team not winning anything.. Afg just because the amount of joy it would give its supporters after what the country is going through..

I would NOT like my country Bharat to win, i wud rather have South Africa or Afghanistan win the cup.

Netherlands or Afghanistan plz 🙏. Or maybe first one for South Africa or new Zealand.
No previous winners

I still feel that New Zealand deserves a World Cup simply due to their consistency in ICC trophies. I mean 2 consecutive finals with the 2019 final being settled with the worst rules ever is just so terrible.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan or Dutchistan.

But ultimately any team but India. India are a boring team that are overmarketed across the last 10-15 years.

India getting knocked out asap is good for cricket.

I'm as confused as you as to why he wouldn't want his own country to win, instead naming South Africa or Afghanistan as his preferred winners.

So, I speculated that the chap could be an Indian Muslim and perhaps doesn't want to see Indian Hindus victorious? Surely the only thing above the nation is religion is what I'm thinking.

So Pakistani fans which team(Pakistan world cup is Done and dusted) you're supporting now from big boy - India, South Africa, NZ and Australia ?

It seems like we may see India, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand in the semi.

I am rooting for South Africa here.

would want Southern Afrikaan to win if India can't win the semis

I want India to win the World Cup but if not India then South Africa. The most entertaining and exciting team in the tournament.
