Iftikhar Ahmed is Pakistan's best Middle Order LOI Batsman - Should be Playing every match

Clueless Ifthikhar just like his supporters! Pathetic player with 0 knowledge! Deport him to Nepal! That’s the team he can play with

He played every match! Beside Nepal bring me one match vs top teams we played and this useless Chacha Performed and we won?
 
Him and Fakhar Zaman are the only two six-hitters in the team. If you want him to be replaced then replace him with a middle-order batsman that can hit sixes.

Any suggestions then for those who don't want Iftikhar?
 
time to bring in a proper batsman down the order instead of iftikhar bcause sensible batsman can do the power hitting at the end but slogger cant drive the match when needed.

Only one shots in his books, shuffle over the stumps and slog down the ground otherwise just plays a dot ball.

so its better to play him only in t20s.
 
He should be retired gracefully and the best youngsters bought in to be integrated into the team
 
I was a fan but time is up I am afraid.

Time waits for no man, but for Ifti this didn't seem the case. But now after this world cup, father time has finally caught with him & time to retire that Pakistan shirt Chachu.

You served us well Iftikhar. Time for some new blood in the team to take up his role.
 
Not a great world cup for him. But his averages and SR are pretty good especially compared to the rest. As well as useful bowling. And he possesses a power game that only Fakhar has better in the team. You need someone to hit down the order, and especially at 6 he isn't gatekeeping many players.

I'd probably keep him for now and focus more on trying to fix the other positions. I wouldn't play him anywhere but 6 though. He is better than the alternatives of Asif Ali and Khushdil who we were also trying out around the same time. And there aren't any standouts in domestic in terms of late order batsmen who could replace him. Most of our emerging talents are top order players.

Azam Khan is the only guy who I feel you could argue to replace Iftikhar right now. But it looks like after that Afghanistan series we've moved on. And he's just simply not the fitness standard he should be for international cricket. But he's the only other realistic alternative I can see right now. So might as well stick with Iftikhar.

I agree, but that's the horrible truth of Pakistan cricket. The talented guy with a power game in Pakistan tend to be unfit and are lazy in developing their game (and in Sharjeel's case even worse he fixed on top). What can you do.

Iftikhar has not done bad at that number. We have no youngster in domestic system who can play the role of finisher and can also bowl few handy overs. Iftikhar has done enough to save his place at least. Can't let go of him at this moment.
 
Here lies the problem if a below mediocre batsman like iftikhar is termed as best middle order and best finisher in whole of Pakistan..forget about winning world up, even an associate member will give hard time to Pakistan...
 
Sometimes I wonder what mistakes Umar Akmal has made to be completely left out for this guy
 
Iftikhar Ahmad is not an ODI player, nor is he a game finisher. He is a T20 middle-order player. Pakistan should utilize him only in the middle order in T20Is.

Umar Akmal & Asif Ali won more matches than this guy. I am not able to fathom how he has got so many opportunities without any performance.
 
Key here to chase this target. He can smash sixes here on this ground easily.

Today he has played his 49th T20I and am still waiting for his single match winning performance. He is not allowed to bowl single over, his fielding was terrible, irresponsible batting once again, why he is in the team?
 
not a very good performance. Still doesnt mean he should be dropped.

He should be only batting in the last 5 overs.
He tries to obsorb preesure in which he gives his wicket away.
 
Shan Masood gets lot of criticism for not performing in test cricket after getting so many chances. I don't see that level of criticism for Iftikhar who has been much bigger failure. Salman Agha, Harris or even Umar Akmal can perform better than this guy

Forget emulating out great all-rounders of the past like Afridi or Razzaq, this guy is not even a poor man's Mohammed Hafeez or Shoaib Malik!

Never seen a guy get so many chances and fail at the big stage (I only recall his one fifty which he made against the Aussies when he started his international career)...no idea why this guy has so many fans with pathetic excuses (he came in to early, he came in too late, etc)...worst player of spin in the team as well...he was outplayed by the likes of Shaheen today so proves anyone else would be a better bet! Give me Salman Ali Agha over Chacha...

Shahid Afridi doesn't fall in the league of Abdul Razzaq; he was far ahead of Shahid Afridi.

Razzaq, then Afridi, then Azhar Mahmood, then Hafeez and Malik at the bottom...Chacha isn't for to clean the boots of anyone of the above...

Asif Ali was awful as well but at least he played two memorable knocks against the Afghanis and the Indians in T20s...what has Chacha done to deserve a longer run?
 
Iffi deserves te credit here. He bowled well and took the game away from kiwis. Well done with the bowl and still pathetic with the bat, which he should be more focused on.

Why only Ifti? Why not Nawaz, Shaheen, Zaman, Usama who also get crucial wickets and controlled flow of runs? Yes, he bowled well today like any other bowler but his repeated failure as a main middle order batsman is more frustrating for the team. He has played 53 T20Is and still he doesn't have recognizable match winning performance against big team

yeah sure, why not? It is the bowlers who did their job. But Iftikhar was criticised too much and he deserves that criticism because he is in the side for his batting. But he bowled well and he deserves the credit for it as well along with nawaz and Shaheen. All of them did a wonderful job.

Shaheen had no choice to bowl him in the last game and see what happened. I know Ifti should still have scored runs but he is the only calculated and smart hitter that Pakistan has. I will stick with him for another year at least.

Okay, turned the game in Pak's favour but it was the bowling and only a consolation, still got whipped 4-1. So takeaways from this performance and series?

Iftimania not good enough as a batsman alone, if he has to play this should only be as a pure bowler. Play him at 8 or 9 and keep Rauf out of the team who has been found out and gets battered for too many runs.

Playing decent spinners is a potent weapon in T20s and Ifti can do a job here if he is to be retained.

Idk about no.8/9 but i like the idea of him occupying one of the all-rounder spots at 7/8. He'll be competing with nawaz shadab for it. But this does beg the question of who will bat at no.6 then.
 
We don’t need his bowling, we have better spinners Thn him! He needs to work on his batting stay in domestic. International is not for him

Only Iftikhar Ahmed stood tall for WAPDA and scored 52 (59) in the first innings. Iftikhar Ahmed always delivers the best in domestic cricket but don't know why he performs rarely in international cricket.
