Imad Wasim:

- Lost KK in 2018
- Lost KK in 2019
- Seems like he'll make them lose again in 2020. Dean Jones is also there, and as expected, no help from him.
- Failing as a batter and bowler both

Shadab Khan:

- 50/50 so far
- Putting himself to bat under crunch situations and succeeding at that

Let's see what they can do this season!

Oh yes, there's always a conspiracy when your favorites have to sit on the bench for team combination.

You're the guy who promotes Ahmed Shehzad.

And Shadab being brave, selfless by putting him under really bad situations is the bad guy.

Could've easily hid down the order but no, he's coming in to face the heat and improve himself.

Zafar and Saif will get their chances when the time is right.

Both are selfish, insecure, annoying and poor tacticians.

If i have to choose between them i will choose Shadab.

Ahmed Shehzad has been messed around. I now say I don't rate him.
 
The criticism of Shadab is unjustified. The team has been winning. He is bowling and batting well enough and leading from the front. He is a very young captain and is obviously a little jazbati still and inexperienced in captaincy and life.

The criticism of Imad’s handling of Umer Khan is definitely justified. After today’s show, I really do think Imad should apologize, admit the mistake and move on.
 
Shadab has shown glimpses that he thrives as a leader...

Meanwhile Imad didn’t give a chance to Umer Khan on a pitch where Karachi Kings got eaten alive by spinners.

Both are young for being captain and this will only be a learning curve for them.

Team has been winning? They’ve won 2 lost 2 (not counting the washout).

Shadab has raised his game though. It will only benefit Pakistan if he gets his form back and develops as a leg spinner especially.
 
Shadab’s batting has been very good so far, yes he has been lucky but not his fault bowlers are bowling no balls etc. Misbah being national coach you can be sure he is certain for T20 WC.
 
It's interesting that Shadab has been made captain by Misbah. I think they are planning for a replacement if Babar doesn't do well with captaincy or the workload becomes too much. Shadab can take over in LO. I am confident Babar will do well as a captain. But at least Misbah is trying to think of the future.

I'll be disappointed if ISLU doesn't win the title. Shadab needs to improve fast and make good bowling decisions as a captain.

Bowling is suddenly looking weak with both Amad and Faheem consistently failing.

Dale Steyn should improve things. Was a big mistake not sign another overseas bowler. Ingram and Malan are similar in profile. There wasn't a need for both of them.

Shadab has taken the captaincy responsibility very seriously. Has batted really well throughout the tournament.

Shadab looks very focused and leads from the front. I am actually quite surprised how vocal he seems to be. Tactically I have no idea wht he is like, I guess that will become more apparent with more games.

Getting too big for shoes. Someone needs to bring back to this aukat. He is currently a mediocre player at best, ready to be replaced by a better spin bowling all rounder in the national team.
 
Shadab’s captaincy, like his cricket, is for the cameras only. He may not be very good at cricket, but he is certainly very good at acting.

His bowling is completely average with little penetration, and his selfish batting is not helping Islamabad bat teams out of games. He has promoted himself up the order because he cannot bat down the order, but he is not scoring quick enough for his runs to have an impact. That SR needs to go up to 190-200 for his runs to help the team and not his statistics.

He is excellent in the field, but fielding alone will not win you games of cricket.

Beneath all the glitter and glamor, there lies a completely ineffective cricketer.

On the contrary, Imad did very well to restrict Islamabad to below 200 even though Karachi only managed 3 wickets, and he once again proved why he is the best lower-order batsman/finisher in the country. He kept a cool head, didn’t panic and played according to the situation.

I thought Shadab was terrible.

His bowling changes were clueless as were his field-placings.

He's getting found out at times.
 
Anyone who thinks Shadab is better than Imad as a captain has no knowledge about cricket. Maddy should have been Pakistan T20I captain as well.
 
Shadab is still learning and to be honest he hasnt captained full time before unlike Imad who has captained in domestics for few years so obviously Imad is more experienced which helps.

On the other hand Imad hasnt been as good as I expected, he was better in national T20 cup when Northern won under him. Tournument is still on though so both Imad and Shadab can improve.

I am not the biggest fan of Shadab but credit where its due. Your post is just completely biased and you are using hindsight to support that bias.

Shadab was great with the bat today. He scored a 50 at 175. That was not even the top ten reasons why Islamabad lost today. Ronchi batted 10 overs and only scored 85. Munro and Ingram were even worse. How many specialist batsmen in the PSL are scoring at 190-200 strike rates?

As for his fielding, no one else in the PSL and very few people in the world would have got the run out he got today. And it was Babar in the first over, so a huge moment.

And then on a belter of a pitch, to go at 5.75 runs an over while no one else gives less 9 is a very good performance. He was let down by his teammates today.

Lol. I ain't no Shadab fan. But calm down with the hate for him was lucky in the 2 games as he was dropped. He was batting ahead of Asif only today plus 190-200 SR lol. Post without emotions which must be high since the tail ender is doing decently with the bat in comparison to some of the oversees batting stars.

He has tons of experience, yet keeps losing. Always been clueless.

Something we can agree on.

I'm not convinced of Shadab's hitting ability, he can't do that at will and is very similar to Imad Wasim though slightly better. Both will struggle to hit international quality bowling consisently.

But have to accept that he's truly leading from the front.

One thing I really dislike is his bowling changes. Clueless who to bowl, not able to defend anything.

Shadab has won the same amount of matches as Imad this PSL. He's lucky that last match got rained otherwise they would have lost that as well. I don't know why are you acting as if Shadab has won the PSL.

One has the same number of wins this season as the other.

The other has already lost 2 seasons of entire PSL.

2/3 lost matches vs. 2/3 lost matches + 2 lost PSL seasons.

How is it so hard to understand?
 
Sarfraz had poor attitude as captain but this psl bully seems to be leaving him behind in gaali galoch. Atrocious attitude today with Rizwan. Looked like a fool in the end. His psl performances seems to be getting to his head.

His performances in international cricket is worse than Imad.

He had every right to be angry as the previous ball had exactly gone to the same fielder and he had asked him to move forward.

The run-out was a good thing that came out of a fielding blunder.

In sport, there is always hindsight bias. For example, Imran Khan in the 92 semifinal and Misbah in the 2011 semifinal played equally poor innings, but the contrasting outcomes of the matches shaped the perception of the innings.

While Shadab’s SR looks impressive on paper, the fact is that Islamabad posted a below par total especially when they only lost 3 wickets.

If your team loses only 3 wickets in 20 overs and scores 183 only, you have to question the batting strategy.

In spite of losing their best player for nought in the first over, Karachi chased the target at a canter. Apart from the 2 over period where they lost Delport, Hales and Iftikhar in quick succession, they always looked in control, because 184 was not a massive target in these conditions.

In spite of scoring 63 in the last 5 overs, the pair of Ronchi and Shadab did not get off the blocks quickly enough.

Ronchi got his half-century in 43 balls which was criminally slow for this pitch, and after batting through the innings, he needed to score 100+.

Shadab also should have batted at a similar rate to Imad Wasim (SR 213) whose innings was clearly more impactful.

Ronchi’s innings was more harmful than Shadab, but Shadab’s method of scoring runs is not helping Islamabad bat teams out of the game.

You can do bhangra over Shadab scoring more runs than overseas stars, but his runs are not helping the team and Islamabad are ending up with 180 on 200 pitches.

Shadab scored like 8 runs off his first 10 balls when he could have easily played a blinder like Maddy did but he was being selfish.

Shadab's a passionate captain but his bowling changes have been atrocious. I think he's over relying on his friend Rana Faheem. In every match so far, his main pacers haven't bowled their full over quotas and gave had overs to spare. He needs to drop Faheem and fully utilize the main bowlers

Imad can di the same many times, he has failed countless times in international matches but here shadab did well and made a good parynwrsip, If Ronchi did not do well and Isd had Tulla asif ali afterthat so in that context Shadab innings was very good, remember it is his 3rd good inning and he is going on to impress.

Shouting by a captain at a fielding mistake is no big deal albeit it ended up in a run out, and did make Shadab look like a fool. It's funny how some agenda driven posters blaming Shadab for slow scoring when it was actually Romchi who wasted lots of first 10 overs. During the match thread many were posting he is batting well but is poor bowler even though he has bowled well in previous match as well and was better than Indian spinners in the world cup, when he started bowling good in this match the hate was directed at his captaincy even though he is young and has captaincy experience of handful matches. Some were saying they dont like his looks wow talk about hate for a promising youngster representing your country.

Imad is an average captain & has made some pathetic decisions in PSL but your claim doesn't make any sense that Imad lost Karachi in 2018. Will you please enlighten us that how he lost Karachi in 2018 when he was neither the captain nor in the team (due to injury) when Karachi got knocked out in playoff in 2018?
Moreover, KK has just played 4 matches this Season & according to you he is 3 times losing captain..

Imad has around 10 years experience as captain,
Pakistan Junior teams and Islamabad First class team.
Shadab is starting out so it's a unfair Comparison.

You are completely deluded if you think a 20 year old Shadab has the final say on team selection over the all powerful Misbah.

Misbah has been shambolic and Shadab can only captain with what he’s given. The fact that Zafar is the best spinner in Pakistan and was left out until after half the matches had finished, is criminal.

It’s clear that Shadab is just a show captain. He runs around and aggressively places his fielders but the decisions are made behind the scenes and he has his strict orders to follow.

Also, Faheem is rubbish but if you think having Talat (batting at 7 and bowling even slower pies) would make a difference to this match, you have no idea clearly.

Just a bad day today, should not have bowled Faheem that too within PP to Kami.

Sadly Shadab is back to his poor bowling changes. Hopefully no more blunders moving forward.
 
Performances aside he really needs to try not to be a showbaz and set his ego aside.
 
Imad showing more maturity as captain , particularly he handles the situation better when team is under stress or at a bad situation in match.

Shadab's captaincy is more of reflex driven, does not have maturity and does not make quick and correct decision according to situation, his field placing and bowling changes is really poor. But this is the stage where he can learn.

He's been poor as a captain - Shadab.

Shouldn't have sent himself in so early when hitting was needed.

OK but he has the most sixes in the tournament and the best strike-rate of all the top 10 run-scorers (after Kamran Akmal) this season.

Yes, but that doesn't tell he isn't exactly good at hitting the ball from the get go and shouldn't have come in at one down when the match was 9 overs.

He takes the time to settle. And that has hurt the team.
