"I haven't eaten rice and roti in almost a year"

"I scored a 19.5 in the yo-yo test before going to England. Before the Zimbabwe tour, I got a 19.4"

"To be honest, (The label of being Inzamam's nephew) is very difficult for me. I didn't know people would slap such a huge label on me at the beginning of my career as I was just new to cricket back then"

"My blood pressure had started to get low because of the pressure by the media"

"I had realised early on that I had to prove myself out on the field to shut the critics up"

"My favourite Test innings has to be the one against Ireland since it was tough to bat in those conditions and the team was under pressure due to being at 14-3"

"India is a top team and the standards that Virat Kohli has set for his team means that if you exclude him from the team, then India will go down by 50%"

India is a top team and the man who sets standards for them is Virat Kohli. If you keep him aside, the Indian team will be reduced to 50%.

This is the actual quote from the article, I am not going to try and defend Imam here however he wasn't mouthing off India, he was actually glorifying Virat Kohli.

Just stick to playing cricket and do your job.

Don't start running your mouth about other teams in THE MEDIA.

Can say whatever you want in private.

Basic active sportsperson etiquette.

Should have asked him if that 50% India is still better than Pakistan.

Says who? Who is this Imam-Haq? Every random tom dick and harry talks about Virat Kohli and India Team these days to get some popularity. If not Virat, we have match winners in Rohit, Dhawan, Bumrah, Bhuvi, Kuldeep and heck! even aging Dhoni. Same can be said about Pakistan current side too, you take out F.Zaman cheaply and the rest of the team might crumble in pressure coz it wasn't tested against best teams, but let's not talk **** and start respecting the opposition.

He would well to keep Sohail Khan in mind and remember how the Ghar ka Kohli ended up scoring a 100 in the WC match.

How about you increase your strike rate rather than you speaking rate

It'd be interesting to see Imam's composure while he bats if VK starts chirping. It would not be the end of it on this platform if he plays like a tail-ender and is dismissed early in the India clash(es).

I watched the whole interview in which he said that. He wasn't dissing the Indian team, he was just saying that Kohli is a world-class batsmen and is immensely valuable to his team. Nothing wrong with what he said.

What's more interesting is that Imam cut his body fat level from 91 to mid 50s, a huge improvement. He looked really fit as well and said that he scored a 19.5 in the recent yo-yo test. Seems to be taking care of his body and his fitness. Good on him. These things are what is going to ensure he becomes the future captain of Pakistan in the future.

First of all you need to relax brother!

The quotes from this article are worded in a way where it looks like he’s talked badly about India. In reality the interview he was actually praising them
And was glorifying Virar Kohli. The above piece is very misleading.

Based on the fact that he has scored as many runs for his team in this series as all the other players combined, there might be some truth to this statement.

Nothing wrong with what he said but why is Imam talking about the most overrated player kohli

Good to know that he rates that little innings as his favorite. Goes to show that he understands match situations. Otherwise ask any Pakistani batter and they will rate their highest score as their best innings.

Sure, but India first have to stop getting beaten in less than two days (170 odd overs is all the 2nd test saw) by a 5th ranked team :-P

Imam should worry about his own form... gully mohallah player selected due to chachu...

That is not right. Not sure what he meant but anything above 35% and you're obese. :uakmal

91 to 54. Clearly Imam is just spouting off some nonsense. It can't be body fat either cos he'd be the size of a sumo wrestler at 54% BF. Even then 91kg to 54kg means he's been cut in half and I can't see that happening either.

He's just saying things for the sake of saying things. Fake news if I ever heard it.

I just thought they measure the body fat in Pakistan differently. It is sad if he is making this up but it's pointless to lie about this? Not like anyone has ever questioned his fitness?

Has India confirmed its participation yet?

What do u mean? Are they touring Pakistan or something?
Of course they are playing in the Asia Cup. Thats why they are in the schedule. BCCI doesnt want to get sued heavily again do they?

Our players should just refrain from commenting on other players or teams when not required to do so.

He gave his opinion on a question. What else is he supposed to do? Indians have said 100x worse things about India over the last week.

Also, people need to pipe down with the criticisms. So far he done really well for a player of his age trying to break in to the team. It's not his fault that the chief-selector is his uncle and it's not his fault that Pakistan is scheduled to play Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe on the FTP. He just wants to play cricket and do well for Pakistan, start criticizing him when he actually stops scoring runs.

"My blood pressure had started to get low because of the pressure by the media"

This statement didn't make sense at all. :yk

(K sorry I am pulling leg of young kid here.)

People get so jumpy over this stuff.. as if Indian players never run their mouths. Aussies do that all the time.. when others do it, they are being tough and aggressive and our own fans want our players to **** their mouths, put on choorian and do handi roti at home when they ain’t playing correct.

Agree with Imam - didn't say anything odd just gave an opinion on how good Virat Kohli is. Massive overreaction from some insecure posters.

We all know how good Virat Kohli is and it is possibly true but no need to denigrate India. Whatever Aussies say or do or don't do is upto them but we need to remain professional.

I don’t know. Haven’t heard of the age participating or not.

When Imam ul Haq is dismissed it has no impact on Pakistan’s chances. Only Fakhar matters

I'm on a diet myself and I'm trying to get rid of belly fat, I was thinking of quitting roti but my mum says otherwise :)))

With the comments regarding India our players need to learn the art of dodging those questions, Indian players do it effortlessly when asked about Pakistan. They usually start their sentences with "I don't that's something I am able to give input on..." then they try divert the attention on Pakistan to something completely different. The media can make you look like a criminal by twisting your words so I suggest our players should not make big statements about how India play. Praising their players is fine though, India relatively do praise some of our cricketers like Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali.

The world of pro sports is brutal and there is no need to shield the players.. if they say something that comes and bites them in the back, so be it. Let them look like buffoons so they can learn from
It. Let such misfires motivate them. As long as it’s not pointlessly and over the top demeaning, insulting and below the belt, it should be kosher..

Besides he didn’t say anything that the Indian themselves aren’t saying anyway..

What BVB said is right on the money.. Kohli is more than 50% of their team..

Although I don't agree with him but there's nothing to be upset about his statement.

He is right. He is a cricketer, it is essential that he keeps track of different teams and players also.
Indian players usually try to ignore questions about pakistan (which i don't think is good), they try to show that they don't care(which is again false).
Pakistani players are better they show that they care about india and it is a good thing.

I think its due to the pressure Indian players are under in general with regards to media and Indian fans. Where culture in Pakistan is such there is more communication between players and fans. In general Pakistani players answer more questions to media and fans openly than Indian players.

Having said that I feel Imam is too new in international cricket to be talking about other players etc. Should stick to his game and performance and let this kind of talk come from other senior members.

If anyone knows about this then it's the great Imam-ul-Haq for sure:ma Would be even better if Pak could depend on him half as much as India does on Kohli!
