What's new

Imran Khan declared Man of the Year by ‘The Muslim 500’

You seem to be naive about your country. Bangladesh currently has over 1.5 million rohingya refugees. Erdogan isn't alone in having refugee crisis. Sheikh Hasina dosent seem to have many problems because unlike Erdogan, she has solved many problems, has vastly improved the economy of the country and has improved the living standard of the country while being the PM of a third world country.
No one told Erdogan to invade Syria. He has created many problems for Turkey along with destroying its economy. He also seems a dodgy character criticising UAE-Israel deal when He himself has trade ties with Israel. He also has a history of trading with ISIS. You can breath a sigh of relief that an incompetent man like him isn't your President.

Nobody cares about Hasina outside of Bangladesh. India cares because Hasina does whatever India says. She is like an asset for India.

Compare that to Erdogan. I don't want to insult this great man by comparing him to Hasina.

Also, I would gladly take Erdogan over Hasina. It really is a no brainer.

I have a feeling you work for Awami League.

Isn't Sheikh Hasina regarded as an Indian puppet? Basically she takes diktat from India and thus her policies at home are heavily influenced by a neighbour who could (and probably will) turn hostile further down the road.
Dosent change the fact that she has performed amazingly to improve the socio-economic status of millions of citizens. she has also provided shelter to 1.5 million rohingyas. What has Erdogan & Imran Khan done to improve the lives of their citizens?

Imran Khan is new to the scene. He is PM for like 2 years. Hasina is a leader for a very long time.

Give Imran Khan 15 years and see what he produces.

If imran khan, pm of Pakistan, is the most influential person in the world among Muslims, it can be good news for Pakistan but for Muslims over all?.... It should come as a disappointment rather.

So, which person do you think should be #1 influential Muslim? You are yet to answer it.
Anyone who works for the progress of muslim society and peace should be the one to be most influential. I dont think there can be clearcut answer as to who is #1. But someone Like Sheikh Tamim should be up there who has done tremendous job for his country. Someone like Ibrahim al Bulaihi should be up there as a critical thinker and a guide.

What has Hasina done specifically to improve the socio-economic status of BD citizens? Is she personally responsible for the economic success or was BD well placed to benefit anyway due to certain factors?

He is 16th on the list of most influential.

Erdogan was also credited with turning around Turkey's economy in his first stint as PM, although seems like his eagerness to assert Turkish influence in the region has seen a few former allies baring their teeth so that was always a risky move.

As for Hasina, is she personally responsible for BD's successful economy, or was it going in that direction anyway? Is it not possible that the opposition party could have done the same if they had oppressed Hasina's party and imposed peace in a similar fashion?

BD economy was in tatters when Hasina took the reign in 2009. Opposition party (BNP/Jamaate Islami)would've made this country into a extremist failed state if they stayed in power.

Hasina has done good things for extremely poor people.

Middle class and upper class don't depend on Hasina. They are successful with or without Hasina.

Again, what measures did she take specifically to turn around the economy?

I checked the list. And seriously speaking, among the names that are written along with IK, it's the IK who will probably be the most weak contender for the position.

It’s a subjective list. Opinions will differ from person to person.

I have a lot of respect for Mufti Taqi Usmani. Always finds himself near the top of these lists while being a soft spoken individual. An expert in his field and very intelligent overall

In fact I didn’t even realize that he is 1st on the list this year

You are being super emotional and a blind fan without any stats to back you up.

Yup, because Mufti Taqi and IK are included.

And not anyone from Nawaz or Zardari family.

Must me some conspiracy.

Giving IK the "Man of the year" certainly raises eye brows considering the other contenders. Are you saying the rest 15 is less siginficant than IK in muslim community in the year 2019-2020?

NATO is the brainchild and pet project of "The Great Satan", is it not?

No, US isn't satan if that is what you are referring to. NATO has become irrelevant. Turkey's membership only helps a Muslim army to gain more expertise and experience with top military tech.

Erodgan is a pragmatic mard-e-momin.

Is this the time magazine equivalent of the Muslim world? honest question.

Never heard of it. Also interesting to see the list of others who have had this honor in the past.

Congratulations though

Erdogan is a failure who's ruining his own country's future.

No he is not. He has turned Turkey into a major regional power.

Agreed. Turkey has a strong army.

Also, Turkey flourished under Erdogan for a while but that Syrian war probably hurt them a bit. But, they can always come back.

May God protect this great man and great leader.

The desire of Erdogan to become the Sultan/Caliph has costed Turkey dearly. Erdogan has turned into a dictator who has violated human rights of his own citizens. He has dragged Turkey into a major economic crisis(economy contraction projected to be 8-10%). Turkey is on the brink of another currency crisis as well.

His misadventures in Syria hasn't bought any good results. If not for covid-19, he would've faced military losses along with more refugee inflow. He's in the power to solve problems but looks like he has a great knack of creating problems rather than solutions.

In the meantime turkey forces has cut water supply for the 8th time in the northern Syrian town of Hasakah. Way to go our beloved Amirul Muminin :)) :))

A Hasina supporter shouldn't talk about human rights violation. LMAO.

How many opposition leaders have disappeared in Bangladesh? How many people were arrested for simply saying something different? Do you keep count?

I doubt Erdogan cares what Hasina does or says. Erdogan is a major global leader with a strong army. Hasina is a nobody and is only important within the border of Bangladesh.

The fact we are discussing Hasina on this thread is embarrassing.

Hasina unlike Erdogan, dosent claim to be the leader of muslim world. Her alleged actions also dosent justify the human rights violations of Erdogan. I dont see any connection here whatsoever.

The nobody Hasina has improved an ever poor country. The great Erdogan is destroying once a great country. I know who I would choose as my leader.
