"Imran Khan did not establish any hospital or educational institution in KPK" : Shehbaz Sharif

MULTAN-Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif dubbed on Wednesday Zardari as looter of national wealth and Imran Khan the IG of liars, asking the nation to identify these swindlers and do not vote for them in coming election.

He observed this while addressing public gatherings in Multan after inaugurating health projects worth about Rs5 billion. The projects include 150-bed Children Complex Hospital extension project worth over Rs1,929 million, 150-bed Institute of Kidney Diseases worth Rs1,444.70 million, Nishtar Burn Unit worth Rs878.68 million, Government Shehbaz Sharif DHQ Hospital Rs411 million and Regional Blood Centre Rs323 million.

Shehbaz Sharif lashed out at his political opponents and said that Zardari looted national wealth and ironically now claims to recover it from others. “It is better for him to return the looted money himself. If he doesn’t, we’ll recover it from him,” he added.

He said that Imran Khan did nothing except for staging sit-ins during last four and half years. “He locked down Islamabad, brought out processions and created hurdles in way of development projects. What he should’ve done but he didn’t is that he did not establish any hospital or educational institution in KPK,” he maintained. He said that the only achievement of Imran Khan was that Peshawar was dug for Metro line in four and a half years. He claimed that if the PML-N got another chance to come into power with the support of Allah and masses, it would launch orange line and metro train projects in Peshawar, Quetta and Karachi. He stressed upon the masses to bring PML-N to power in 2018 elections and the party would bring in a revolution of development in return. He said that Imran Khan told lies day and night, levels allegations and abuses his opponents but when Dengue came to Peshawar he climbed up the mountains. He said that Imran Niazi opposed great health projects like Sehat Card and did not let the federal government launch it in KPK.

He said that the people of Pakistan would bring PML-N to power in next election and we would bring in a revolution of progress and prosperity.

He said that the government spent billions of rupees on providing quality healthcare facilities to the people. He added that it was his mission to lift healthcare sector and he would not sit calmly until this mission was accomplished. He hoped that the extension project of Children Complex Hospital would offer Lahore-like healthcare facilities to the residents of South Punjab in Multan. The CM took notice of poor sanitary conditions in Children Complex and issued order for improvement in cleanliness.

The CM disclosed that the Punjab Government is going to establish state-of-the-art Burn Units in all big cities of the province and Multan Burn Unit is part of this project. He hoped that the unit would give state of the art burn treatment facilities to the residents of South Punjab.

Shahbaz Sharif was of the opinion that the drug testing lab would help eliminate counterfeit and poor quality drugs. He added that quality medicines were basic right of every citizen and the government would ensure this right.

He declared that 100 new dialysis machines would be added to the existing equipment of Kidney Centre. “Currently this centre has 40 dialysis machines and all of them are busy. We’ll immediately busy new machines and if this equipment is not available in Pakistan, we’ll bring it from abroad by air,” he declared.

The CM took serious notice of unavailability of cardiac surgeon at Children Complex Hospital and gave two-week deadline to the administration to bring the surgeon. “If you fail to achieve this task, I’ll bring surgeons myself third week,” he declared. He said that best doctors from around the world had been brought at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and same pattern would be followed to arrange doctors for the projects of Multan.

He disclosed that CT Scan machines are being installed at all DHQ Hospitals of Punjab which would remain functional round the clock. “We’re going to introduce a new mechanism under which the company, which installs these machines, will be responsible to keep it running round the clock,” he added. He said that now no one would ask the patients to go outside and get self scanned from private machine. He said that if the PML-N gets another chance, it would launch projects like CT Scan machines, mobile health units etc in Azad Kashmir and other parts of the country.

He declared that the foundation stone of Nishtar Hospital-11 would be laid before the next election in Multan and it would be accomplished within one year.

He pointed out that the country was faced with over 20-hour long daily loadshedding when PML-N came into power but today the country is loadshedding free as the government produced thousands of megawatt electricity. He disclosed that the Punjab Government was installing a 1200-megawatt power production plant in Haweli Bahadur Shah which would be run on gas. He said that the Punjab Government saved Rs100 billion in power generation projects and all the projects were a good example of transparency. He claimed that no one could prove corruption worth even a single paisa in these projects. He said that it was the outcome of government’s projects that today the country had come out of darkness and it was illuminated.

He said that our forefathers rendered sacrifices for such a Pakistan where justice was available to all, resources were divided justly and all had equal opportunities to make progress. “Today after 70 years, Pakistan is going to become a welfare state in light of dreams of Quaid and Iqbal,” he asserted.

He pointed out that the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund was a revolutionary programme which enabled 275000 poor and deserving students to continue their education. He added that thousands of young students turned into doctors, engineers, bankers, teachers and experts with the help of this programme and now contributed their share in national development.

Earlier, the CM visited Shahbaz Sharif DHQ Hospital, Children Complex Hospital, Nishtar Burn Unit, Regional Blood Centre, Drug Testing Lab and Cold Chain Store. He was accompanied by federal minister Javed Ali Shah, provincial ministers Kh Salman Rafiq, Kh Imran Nazir and Naghma Mushtaq Lang, mayor Multan Naveedul Haq, chairman district council Dewan Muhammad Abbas, MNAs, MPAs and health officials.

Good that thread title has IK.... atleast we would get some participation of Nooras here.

Yes you're right as PTI members AND IK just kept making trips to the UK and got themselves treated all these last 5 years.

Shahbaz Sharif like his elder brother is a big liar.

Atif Khan (KPK education minister) provided full list of schools built and upgraded in KPK and there has been many new hospitals in small towns but majority of improvement is made through reforms and upgrading existing infrastructure + sehat insaf card.

I have been unfortunate to go to hospitals in Lahore on my trips to Pakistan and unless you can afford private hospitals, you are in massive trouble. I always heard about Sheikh Zaid hospital but what i saw there was beyond shocking. If only this dramay baaz can change EXISTING hospitals, it would change lives of people in Punjab.

Foot and Mouth disease seems to have found its way to Pakistan and mutated into a strain called Foot in Mouth disease. Politicians and ISPR seem to be particularly hard hit. Lahore has arguably the worst healthcare infrastructure of any provincial capital bar Quetta.

Didn't IK get donations for SK in Peshawar in 2015. Typical Noora ignorance or blatant lying.

With the billions spent, it should have the best. Real improvements in health care take years with dedicated professionals held accountable by honest politicians.

This was meant foe Shabaz Sharif.
accuse the other side of that which you are guilty
I hope PTI somehow defeats him in his own provincial constituency.

You are making this whole issue too personal. PTI need alot of voters who actually can participate in The election to make the difference, not only keyboard warriors living abroad. And PTI needs also to be smart and make sure no dhandli is done this time around, otherswise 5 new years with N leauge...

Well said. We already know N League will engage in all short of dishonest tactics to win the upcoming election. PTI has to figure out how to counter that. It’s upto to PTI to get the votes on its side.

Cant stop that till at least the election after this one..I dont think IK will live to see the day his party is elected. Pakistan will have a perpetual choar government for at least the next ten years. The mafia is too engrained in Punjab

SC summons CM Shahbaz Sharif over issue of polluted water in Lahore

The Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday summoned Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif after a report by the Punjab government on provision of clean water was found to be unsatisfactory by the court.

A three-member bench of the SC, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing the suo motu case on provision of clean water at the Lahore registry.

After a report by the provincial government revealed that 540 million gallons of polluted water was being drained into river Ravi, Justice Nisar asked for Sharif to appear before the court and apprise it of measures being taken for drainage of waste water.

"If we can summon Sindh's chief minister over pollution, why should we not summon Punjab's [chief minister]?" the CJP asked.

After asking the chief secretary to find out when Sharif would be able to appear, the court ordered the chief minister to appear at 11am on Sunday.

The bench also expressed displeasure over the lack of provision of clean water in the provincial capital.

Report on problems faced by Lahore's public hospitals

During the hearing of a suo motu case regarding the lack of facilities in Lahore's public hospitals on Saturday, the CJP Nisar ordered officials to prepare a report detailing the problems being faced by the hospitals.

In today's hearing, the officials of public hospitals submitted a report on the current conditions of the hospitals. Justice Nisar emphasised the need to improve the healthcare system in Lahore and ordered officials to ensure that the best facilities are available to patients.

The case was also being heard in the SC Lahore registry by a three-member bench headed by the CJP.

"I want you to work on improving the healthcare system with the same passion with which the SC is looking into this issue," he told the officials present in court. "This is your responsibility."

"Children that are two-month-old are unable to get proper health facilities," he noted. The chief justice also warned that he would visit The Children's Hospital to assess its condition himself.

When he asked if the hospitals had taken any measures to improve the condition of public hospitals, a representative from the Services Hospital said that the administration had increased the bed capacity from 400 to 614.

Noting that public hospitals lack resources, the chief justice ordered that a report on the shortcomings being faced should be submitted in the next hearing of the case, that will be held on February 24.

Last month, the CJP had taken a suo motu notice of the worsening conditions of public hospitals in Lahore after growing complaints regarding lack of facilities for patients.

He had directed medical superintendents of 19 hospitals to appear before the SC's Lahore registry with reports containing details of emergency equipment, CT Scan, MRI and ambulances etc.

Outlining the SC's agenda for 2018 at the start of the year, Justice Nisar had said that the court would be focusing on human rights issues, particularly those relating to the people’s right to quality education and healthcare.

The SC is already hearing cases regarding the provision of clean water in Sindh and Punjab as well as one regarding high fees in Punjab's medical colleges.

To be brutally honest the SC gets involved for PR. Nothing ever comes of these interventions as they never see anything through. When the real stuff on corruption comes up( bar the Panama scandal) the judges run a mile.
We have to face facts that Showbiz is untouchable and the SC is wasting its time. They are better off with stopping Valentine's day etc.

Understand this: IK is a non-entity, no political value. The only power struggle is b/w N-League and Army. Your leader carries no weight and is irrelevant to us.

N-League leaders might give occasional statement or two on him, but mostly because they know he won't be able to defend even KP this time, and they see a chance to make inroads there.

So it took you a few days to think of this line of defence.
A non entity that your killers and crooks spend hours attacking. A non entity that made your paarchi wala cry and get sacked, a non entity that made your finance Minister run( let us know if you find him), a non entity that is amongst the few honest politicians that are honest. If we had a few more non entities like him than the country would be a better place.

Lahore water treatment plan will be ready in 3 weeks, Shahbaz tells SC

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday told the Supreme Court (SC) that his office would formulate a comprehensive plan for the provision of clean water to citizens of Lahore.

Sharif gave his assurances to a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, which had summoned the Punjab CM to explain his government's position regarding the provision of clean drinking water to citizens, and the disposal of large quantities of untreated waste water and sewage, as the court heard a suo motu case and petition on the same.

A court commission earlier told the SC bench, comprising Justices Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Ijazul Ahsan, at the Lahore registry that alarming quantities of untreated waste water produced by the provincial capital was being disposed off in the River Ravi.

The CJP-led bench had on Saturday summoned CM Shahbaz as Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed had no satisfactory response when Advocate Ayesha Hamid, the head of the court commission looking into the matter, told the court that 540 million gallons of untreated waste water or sewage were being discharged in the river daily.

“Why should the chief minister not be summoned right now to explain what is happening in his Takht-i-Lahore?” the CJP had asked the chief secretary.

After welcoming the chief minister to court today, Justice Nisar said that the provincial government should do more in the sectors of health and education.

In response to the CJP's remarks, CM Shahbaz said that he would make sure his office comes up with a comprehensive plan for water treatment and the provision of clean water to the residents of the province.

Earlier, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, who was also present in court, spoke to the media and said, "The provision of clean drinking water to the people is important, but the provision of justice is more important."

CJP takes suo motu notice of Punjab police 'encounters'

During the hearing, the chief justice took suo motu notice of fake encounters staged allegedly by the Punjab police and ordered that the chief secretary to provide the court the details of all encounters that took place in the past one year.

Justice Nisar rejected the home secretary's request for 10 days to compile the report and ordered him to submit the report within a week's time.

Removal of barriers foutside CM house, other residences

While Shahbaz was present in court, the CJP ordered that all the barriers outside CM House, the Sharif family's Jati Umrah residence, the passport office and Shahbaz's Model Town residence be removed.

"Why have police officials made you afraid?" the chief justice said, suggesting that Shahbaz should interact more with the public.

I am not a fan of the SC interventions as they very rarely see anything through but as soon as they intervene at least a pretence is made to do something. Why dont these politicians have some pride and do their job.

The desperation of Nooras is best illustrated by this post. One man making these crooks and thugs run to Hospitals in London.

If there is a power struggle between the Nooras and the army, when are you guys going to grow some courage? When will NS show his street power, when is he going to take the 1st bullet for democracy, will the fat one and the bold one come back from London to lead the March. Will the 80 or so members of the family be at the front of the March to GHQ. If these 80 are prepared to take bullets than i would pay money to watch. The chances of these crooks whilst building portfolios of billions and then dying before they can enjoy them is as likely as me becoming the President of America.

Leave that aside. They were in government for four freaking years (infact their party is still in government) what steps did they take to reduce the Army power?

They only realize Army is the source of all evil when they are removed from power?
