This is by far the best manifesto I've ever read from a political party in Pakistan.

Just read the manifesto. Many things to talk about but as a summary some of my thoughts:

Pro's:
The reformation of tax collection. You need to pay for stuff so how will they? this should be a first step
Health care. Great idea to expand the sehat programme from KP
Education. again comprehensive plan and I liked the teacher training incentives
Security and law and order. again not a surprise the PTI will simply look to expand its kp model.
Local gov. Good idea to bring back devolution and the return of local councils.
Foreign affairs and defence. This is a rebuilding project and its good that they are going to tackle it.

Cons:
Too much to do. There is so much to do here that I dont think they will be able to do everything. They should have prioritised things so that we could realistically measure them
The economy and our debt. How will they deal with the immediate issue?
Major structural reforms are required but how will they tackle the bureaucracy? so much to wade through..

thats just some initial thoughts..

overall a far superior manifesto than the PPP one. I have yet to see the PMLN one. any links to that one?

Whole thing is in Urdu, and I don't read Urdu fast enough to bother going through this! Here it is though - http://pmln.org/?page_id=10342

Agree with this, some of the things in the manifesto definitely won't be done in one term. I think they should have only included what they want to do for this term in detail and then have long term goals and future plans in a separate section.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Monday unveiled his party's much-awaited manifesto for general elections 2018, announcing that he would turn Pakistan into a welfare state if voted into power.

Titled "Road to Naya Pakistan", the manifesto is composed of seven chapters and explains in detail the PTI's agenda for the next government.

One of the primary points of the manifesto, Khan said, is to turn Pakistan into a Islamic welfare state — a model the principles of which he said are also followed in Scandinavian countries.

"We will make the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) autonomous and pursue all cases of corruption," Khan said. "We will empower the people and devolve the power to the village level.

"We will introduce a non-political model of policing like the one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the rest of the provinces as well. And to ensure that Pakistanis get instant and quality justice, we will introduce comprehensive judicial reforms."

Khan outlined the major issues of all the regions and vowed to resolve them. "We will bring prominent changes to the administrative structure in Karachi; ensure successful completion of Fata's merger with KP and will allocate specific funds for it; promote politics of understanding in Balochistan; raise the movement of south Punjab province, and empower Gilgit Baltistan."

The PTI chief further said that his party would boost the economy by creating 10 millions jobs and promoting small-to-mid-level industries. "We will make Pakistan business-friendly and turn the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into a game-changer by enhancing bilateral relations."

Khan also talked about water preservation via the building of dam, which he said would make the agricultural industry profitable for the farmers.

The manifesto, he said, also has plans on introducing educational reforms in schools, religious seminaries and vocational centres.

PPP was the first among the major political parties to share its manifesto, followed by PML-N.

Khan said that his party would safeguard national security and defeat the terrorists' narrative, human resources, finances and weaponry to tackle the internal threats the country faces. However, he said that in order to curb the proliferation of arms and ammunition at international level, the PTI government would also invite India for strategic discussions.

He also delineated his party's environmental agenda, saying that they would "plant 10 billion trees to tackle environmental changes."

speed skimmed this..overall some very similar things to the PTI one but some crucial differences..no talk of structural reform. No talk of reforming key insitutions like the police etc.

also some very vague statements without backing them up. also alot of " to do this we're going to build or throw money at this". e.g. for teacher training, yeah lets build a national academy.

Alot of the manifesto is a status quo manifesto in other words carry on as is..also some of it lacks innovation and original thinking.

some good things around transport and they have a whole section on it. talk about strenghtening our cpec and china policy. Interestingly a whole section on Khatam e nabooat..

they want to increase the number of private providers of education..health care they talked about PM' sehat programme that I am not aware of..

better than the PPP manifesto..but not by much..

Reading through PTI manifesto, I can say the document is very well-rounded and holistic, however, they have set very very steep targets for themselves and if they don't manage to achieve them then you will have plenty of disgruntled voters.

Liked the special mention given to Karachi :D

But again I reiterate, the goals are too lofty. However, as they say "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars"

Mostly likely PTI won't be able to full fill every promise but if they are able to do half of what they have written on their manifesto then Pakistan will be in way better position than it is currently, now.

Just going after corruption, ensuring the collection of taxes and making the police independent will solve 90pct of the problems.

You'll get both the disgruntled and the fan-boy kinds regardless, with or without a manifesto. This entire exercise is a mere eyewash that only grabs the headlines two weeks before voting day and hibernates until the time the next elections are held.

But again I reiterate, the goals are too lofty. However, as they say "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars"

I've never understood this phrase. The moon is the closest object to the earth, so how do you miss so spectacularly that you end up 'among the stars'? Even the sun is closer.
