Tahir is such an entertaining cricketer and this was a nice touch. We really missed out, eh? Imagine Ajmal and Tahir bowling together. :murali

Someone please clue me in, how does a Saffer know who Junaid Jamshed is?

The guy was a household name among Pakistani's no doubt but South Africans?...

LOL, This Saffer grew up in Pakistan.

And the ICC steps in with their usual efficiency...

South Africa’s Imran Tahir has been reprimanded for displaying a personal message without seeking prior approval from his home as well as the ICC during the second Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka in Johannesburg on Sunday.

This contravenes Section G1 of the ICC Clothing and Equipment Rules and Regulations, which says: “Players and team officials shall not be permitted to wear, display or otherwise convey messages through arm bands or other items affixed to clothing or equipment (“Personal Messages”) unless approved in advance by both the player or team official’s Board and the ICC Cricket Operations Department. Approval shall not be granted for messages which relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes”.

Tahir admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC and, as such, there was no need for a formal adjudication.

Didn't Ramdin get in trouble for the "Yeah Viv talk nah"? I honestly don't think what Imran Tahir did was bad at all.

Guess Moeen Ali also got in trouble with the Gaza support thing.

ICC/UEFA/FIFA are all the bloody same. No morals in what they do and don't do.

FIFA also does not allow it. A player got reprimanded for lifting his shirt and his under shirt said "Eid Mubarak". I think it has to do with the inclusive nature of sport and advocating such banners may exclude the people who do not celebrate Eid. Atleast that is the bahana they gave.

Isn't it a standard operating procedure with every sport?

Have seen football players getting yellow cards for wishing any message. Remember Messi getting yellow carded for wishing his mum some message.

To be honest, it was a pretty weird thing to do given no one in the crowd probably even knew Junaid Jamshed, nor was he a global figure like David Bowie or Jackson.
