Ajmal won Pakistan more matches than Imran Tahir will ever win South Africa. Albeit largely due to chucking but that does not deny the fact that he didn't win Pakistan those matches. I would still take Ajmal prime over a lot of other great spinners.

He is 39. Would've been out of the the Pakistan cricket team anyway by now.

We thank him for representing SA with humility and dignity. We will never have a spinner like him. He's given us fond memories, so thank you Tahir.
My son and I'm sure many more adore his passion for the game.
In a way he feels like he's one of our own more than a guy like KP who was motivated by ego, self interest and money. Of course it helps that SA has a more inclusive society than some of the developed nations.

I definitely can't stand his annoying celebrations everytime he takes a wicket ! Runs across half the ground like he just won a 100 mtrs sprint ! calm down lad , be a bit humble and process it in , an a special occasion I can get it , but every.single.wicket

Tahir benefits from good seam bowlers who get early wickets. Our spinners normally come when the team are 60 for 0 in 5 overs because the seam bowlers have been lacklusture. I very much doubt Tahir would have had the same success in a Pak shirt.

I think your first line explains it.

How can any chucker win more matches for South Africa if he won't even be picked?

If we are talking of bowlers, then chuckers will clearly have the ability to "throw their team to a win".

An Ajmal "prime" was still a "chucker" and had ICC been doing their job an Ajmal prime wouldn't be playing cricket chucking.

Your last point is even more weird. Misbah can play at 42 and Younis at 40 and a 39 year old would not be in the team?

You can't win anything if you play for a choker team like SA. Even Warne won't win anything if he played for SA cos they will figure out a way to screw things up.

Tahir has good stats plus good records in tourneys too.

He still has the chance to win champion trophy and can play till the world cup so don't write off SA chances.
