Can anyone truly decipher what someone else believes in? For those who looking to impose even a fake conversion is enough. Eg Torquemada

Its all about numbers which are then used to justify laws. In the past, it was to enslave. in modern times it is manipulate governments.

There are those who converted for business reasons eg. Jinnah's grandfather, Poonja Gokuldas Meghji

Who is Torquemeda and what does he have to do with the topic of forced conversions ?

Also, curious to know if the bit about Jinnah's grandpa is just a rumour or ?

Don't see why not. Just about everyone in India probably had Hindu lineage somewhere down the line.

His grandfather is from a prominent Gujarati Hindu family, who were strict vegetarians.

He wanted to go into fish business.

Jinnah father was the first one to give his kids islamic names

Very glad partition happened. It was beneficial for Muslims in subcontinent.

Looking forward to more Indian partitions in the future.

Jinnah won because he was able to win a homeland for musalmans of India. What happened to Pakistan after Jinnah’s demise was not his fault. Pakistan failed to control the religious influence on its society and government.

Gandhi won because he took all the credit but made blunders during partition. When the land was divided based on religion, there should not have been any Muslims in India remaining. What is the point of partition if there was no full population exchange. It was a total drama. But in Gandhi’s mind, he was no less than a Superman. His followers were total cringe. They had no vision and thought that since British left it will all be rosy.

Overall both nations are trash and nobody really won. But India has come leaps and bounds from total trash to acceptable trash and they are improving fast. There is some hope and path to progress. Pakistan as of now is down in dumps. They are broke and cannot function without foreign aid. They need to radically change the direction their country is heading.

I feel India has brighter future as the society in general is more liberal than Pakistan and open to change.

No leader won. These leaders were not visionaries. They are just politicians drunk on their own fantasy ideas. I do believe India would have been in better shape had Vallabh bhai Patel became the PM instead of that no good Socialist Nehru.
