Younis the reliable batsman, the record-breaker, the master of runs when Pakistan needed them the most?

or

The skipper, the man at the helm of the team. The man who held the team together and gelled a usually fragmented dressing room. The man for a crisis.

Who will the Pakistan Test team miss the most?

misbah

Neither. They are mediocre batsman at best in this stage of their careers. Also, Misbah's captaincy isn't as great as some make it seem. As for experience, there is a limit to how much wisdom a player can impart. Pakistan team will learn more by playing.

Younis would had been missed if we had never found azhar ali.

Azhar ali also has a good conversion rate aswell.

Misbah on the other hand.... well lets just say when misbah comes you know a wicket wont fall from one end and he will stay at the wicket. In pakistan we barely have any such player

Soo offcourse misbah ul haq

He was also the best captain pakistan ever had.

His reading of pitch conditions, using spinners will all be missed

Younis is undoubtedly the better batsman but I'll just repeat what I said a day or two ago

Younis was the better test batsman for sure but I'm going to miss Misbah a great deal more for what he meant to Pakistan cricket as a whole.

Wait until you see all the drama surrounding the captaincy now that he's gone. People forget the good old days of the 90s when we would have XIs with as many as eight players that were, or would become, Pakistan captain at one point or another, throwing games and choking because they were too busy fighting with each other.

Misbah was the fourth person to captain Pakistan in tests in 2010. Think about it, that's insane.

The year began with Oathgate rumbling on and players being punished left, right and centre. MoYo got sacked, banned, retired then unretired. Afridi took over the captaincy then retired halfway through a test. Butt was captain number 3 in 2010 and then ended the year in jail.

Misbah took over after all of that insanity, with his best players in jail, Younis still not in the team after being banned indefinitely and Pakistan without a test series win in four years.

Pakistan cricket can never repay him for what he did for us.

:salute :salute :salute

Wait for the captaincy merry go round and infighting to begin all over again in two or three years.

Neither, but if I am forced to pick one with a gun to my head, I would go for Younis. He is still capable of playing a mammoth knock even if it is sandwiched between 10 failures. Misbah simply doesn't have the same impact with the bat and it is now time for the team to take a new direction in terms of tactics and strategy. We have become stale.

Younis might play mammoth innings, but we have Azhar for that now. Anybody can do what Misbah has as a batsman.

King Khan will be tough to replace as we have a dearth of batting talent in the domestic circuit, but Misbah as a batsman is easier to replace. But his calm leadership skills will be missed.

Both YK and Misbah were heavy burden for last few years.
Thanks God ... that these non performing players are gone.

on a side note: we will miss yk for his slip catching.

I think misbah scored the most runs for Pakistan in this series.

So better get your facts right in future

as a batsman YK is miles ahead of Misbah. Misbahs greater value is his role as the elder statesman who shepherded Pakistan Cricket out of its most troubling period and gave us our dignity and respect back as a cricketing nation in the eyes of our peers.

Purely as a batsman YK is a lot harder to replace. Misbah is a good Test Bat but his conversion rate for a middle order lynchpin is very poor only 10 Test centuries with 2 of them coming pre 2010. 8 centuries in 6 and a half years is not great.

Both will be missed in different ways but id just say YK.

Today was the ideal scenario for YK to come in and score a 40 or so not out and Misbah to score an ugly and laboured 30 or so not out. But both would more than likely have seen the team there to victory.

Nah, can count many times where both Yk and Misbah went missing in 4th innings chases with Sri Lanka being a common opponent.

Yep, just like they did at Bridgetown earlier this year.

They're gone. We need to get over it and move on.

I think you will find that they were there for the team and performed more times than they failed.

Of the current lot, hardly any of them can win Pakistan a Test match.
