Is that why you didn’t give Saif proper chances .. the same backing you gave to Maqsood?

Ummm Talat

Just because his pace bowling is decent dosn’t detract from the fact he is actually a batsmen

May be watch a game or two before you comment. I love Wasim Akram, he is my favorite cricketer of all time but he's absolutely redundant as a pundit and most of his opinion are misinformed and lukewarm takes of a man doing media appearances to get paid.

From Haris Sohail not showing anything special, right after he was the best batsmen in the test series against Sri Lanka, to Hafeez should be a specialist bat when it's painfully obvious that Hafeez can't make his place in the team as a batsman and Pakistan ODI team really needs his 4-6 overs a match.

Contrarian views abound, with silly criticisms on decisions to bowl first or trying Faheem as an opener on the NZ tour. Wasim is beginning to sound like Ramiz Raja 2.0.

I understand you have media commitments and that means you have to give an opinion when asked for it, but atleast do some homework and research rather than just calling your 15 year old nephew and asking him for his hot take and repeating them on air as punditry.

Joining Shoaib Akhtar, Ramiz Raja and Mohammed Yusuf as the clueless bunch on TV and falling to their levels of expertise, he has hit a new low.

Rich coming from the director of the team which had 'star batting talents' in the shape of Ahmed Shehzad and Shan Masood.

That's before we even bring up the topic of Saif Badar or Abdullah Shafique, the emerging players. :yk2

Wasim should stick with commentry job.
Giving wise advice is not his cup of tea.

PSL job isn't too find batsmen. It just gives young players a chance to show their skill and talent. First class cricket responsbillity is to produce batsmen. That's what needs to be improved. Said Badar wasn't even given a fair chance by Multan so Wasim should at least give young batsmen a chance.

How about you send Saif Badar up the order and give him a proper chance rather than batting him from 7 to 11? How about that Waz? Easy to mouth off.

He actually sent him at #3 once against IU.

The result: 0(1).

Difference between Ramiz and Wasim is that the former actually cares. The latter is clueless and doesn't care either.

To be fair, there were actually no emerging batsmen in the other two editions of the PSL either. Such is the lack of quality in Pakistani batting.

He seems bitter maybe because his team didn't do too well.

In such leagues you only need to see potential in one or two young players, batsmen or bowlers. We have seen this.

He’s right. I think he’s talking about emerging batsmen of international standards. We did see a few good batsmen but nothing exceptional about any of them. I mean, you’ll find a few decent young batsmen in pretty much every T20 league.

Great batsmen are produced at lower tiers. PSL is just a platform to showcase your talent and get the attention of the selectors. You spray water at the root of a plant, not on its fruit. He’s 100% right when he says you need to inject more money into first class cricket.

There were hardly any emerging batsmen on display though...

Sharjeel and Fakhar gained their reputation from their excellence in PSL 1 and PSL 2 respectively. The latter was the best batsman in the CT as well.

From PSL 3 - Pakistan may have unearthed another gem in Hussain Talat and Asif Ali looks like the best big hitter in the country.

Fakhar is very much at the early stages of his career. Personally, I think he is another Afridi but hopefully I'm wrong. And Sharjeel...didn't he get banned or something?

What happened with Sharjeel is a big loss to Pakistan cricket but I wouldn't read too much into that for now as recently the head of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports has expressed his doubts over his involvement in spot fixing and revealed that he hasn't seen any evidence.

Fakhar is nothing like Afridi - complete opposite he has great composure and mental attributes as was seen in the CT. He knows how to build and pace an innings perfectly. Early stages I agree but he's doing well. He is currently the only world class batsman in the Pakistan limited overs set up, but I acknowledge when you say there is a lack of quality.

The best emerging batsman Saad Ali was not played a single game in PSL. How can a batsman perform if he is not selected?

This is the problem of PSL despite being great for Pakistan. Players who aren't necessarily T20 players will be left unpicked/on the bench). Hence won't have the opportunity to see what they can do against the international level bowlers/batsmen.

It would be nice if Saad Ali played as he's perhaps the brightest young batting talent in Pakistan atm after Babar. His numbers across all formats are great. Though I understand he won't necessarily be the best PSL batsman, though probably wouldn't be terrible either.

Sami Aslam again while probably wouldn't dominate PSL, has a good domestic record, Pakistan U19 success and definitely looks like a good option for the future. He's sure to get more chances at domestic record.

There's probably other names, especially those who were considered amongst the best in U19 cricket.

I wish these players got more chances in the PSL Sami, Farhan, Saad and Zafar Gohar. Imam too considering he's already been thrust into international cricket. Even though I think currently only Zafar would really possibly excel in PSL at this stage.

Wasim bhai played Selfie in 10 straight games. Of course you're not gonna see any batsmen developing when you have the selfie :shehzad

Wasim...idk what to say this guy played shehzad in every game even though he was failing badly, humiliating himself. His SR in this season was 85, yet he was not dropped. On top of that Sultans didn't give young batsmen a good opportunity either. As much as i respect him as a cricketer, i am not a fan of him as a person-he has been very arrogant in most of the cricket programs i have seen him. He is all talk.

I thought Sahibzada, Hussain and Asif were batsmen.

It's very depressing if we list Sahibzada as some "success story" of the PSL. For every one lovely straight hit he had a terribly timed nudge thanks to poor balance and stance. He has a lot of problems to iron out. I expected much more from him.

Talat was pretty good.

And Asif Ali if we want to consider Pakistan's need for a hard-hitting lower order batsman.

A lot of Pakistani batsmen were underwhelming this PSL. I did expect a bit more. Sahibzada did not look as good as I thought he would given his hype/record.

Talat had a decent tournament, but he didn't set it one fire, no real amazing knocks. Batted low down I understand, so he gets cut some slack. If he hadn't had a good domestic record before, not sure he would be hyped just based on this PSL.

Asif was probably the only not already part of the squad, Pakistani batsman that really stood out, his hitting was on another level to the other Pakistani batsmen (bar maybe Kamran and Fakhar). The bad thing with him is less to do with his performance in PSL which was very good IMO (stood out a lot more than Talat) but why someone who can perform that good in PSL has such a terrible domestic record in general. With that sort of record, was extremely lucky to get picked in the first place.

What is he on about? Just because batsmen like Talat are decent at bowling as well doesn't mean they shouldn't be classified as batsmen.

When u play selfie in all ten games and make Saif Badar bat at 7-8, then u shud not be the one saying this.

Talat should stop bowling otherwise he may turn out to be next Fawad Alam.
