I’m sorry but this is not how you handle test batsmen. India clearly showing their frustration and cluelessness by dumping not one but BOTH of its test match openers that too in only the 3rd test of a 4 test series.

Great players especially batsmen even out over a series and you should always back them for the entire length of it.

Imagine Tendulkar being dumped for the 4th test in SCG in 2004 or Cook during many series in his career where he came good in the last test.

What does India intend to achieve by dropping both their test openers and thereby smashing their confidence.

So what if Mayank Agarwal and Vihari both hit test centuries in this test? If they fail for a couple of more tests are we dropping them too mid way in series and replace them with Dhawan/Shaw.

Indian test openers currently:-
Shaw, Dhawan, Rahul, Vijay, Vihari, Aggarwal

That’s 6 active test openers. You have become the joke in international cricket with your mindless team changes.

Could you not have waited 2 more tests and then evaluated your players and dropped them for a good length of time to back to the canvas? Maybe just maybe they’d have even got back into form. Both Vijay and Rahul are capable of turning it on.

The selection issues with this team are ridiculous.

Dhawan is not our test opener, it was a bizarre one off selection that was corrected and vihari is a makeshift opener because of bad performances and injuries, so it's just 4 openers.

Not at all, you do what is necessary to win and in fact Pakistan would be helped by being this ruthless in selection matters, too often we have backed out of form players unnecessarily and given them too far a long run when they are not in good form, lack confidence and the team has suffered as a result where it would have just been better to give someone sitting on the bench a go.

I will side with the selectors even if both Vihari and Agarwal score ducks .

Rahul averages something like 20 odd since last 12 months and deserved the axe. So does Vijay who has just one 50+ score in last 12 months.

We have to adapt to the situation.

They gave fair chances to Rahul across 3 series. Vijay was given chances too.

The Aus series is on the line and they had to do what they had to do.

What irks me is Rohit's selection in the XI.

Pandya is 1000x better than this fraud.

Anyone is better than this fraud.

Btw, Tendu case was diff. He was a legend by that time. Also he never looked hopeless like Vijay and Rahul had looked at any point of time in his career.

We cant be hoping for the best. The target is winning the series, setting precedence or not doesnt matter at all. If a change in captaincy is required, even that should be done. No question of not doing what is necessary. The openers have been worse than pathetic, it was just about time to kick them out.
