What's new

India (179/2) comprehensively defeat Netherlands (123/9) by 56 runs in their Group 2 match

SKY played some good shots in the first match aswell But was unlucky!
Rauf bowled a peach of a delivery to bounce him out.

I am excited to see how this version of rejuvenated kohli will play in test cricket now onwards

In last 2 year or so he fell below his counterparts smith and root

But now he can make it up if he can lay hold the same form in longer formats

We can expect a century from our star batsman KL Rahul.

It's time we gave KL a rest. He has lost form. Too many distractions, and too much money.

We need to bring in some uncapped youngster with the hunger for runs.

An inspirational performance and 180 is there for the taking

Associates live for these occasions

Could be a close game if ball does not swing. Our death bowling will be poor, hope it does not reach to that point

KL to make way for Pant next game? Left hander and its not like our batting will be worse off anyway.

Below par total from India against a minnow but should be enough.

Considering how the pitch played from the last 5 overs of SA innings to Indias innings, this is a good total. But i trust our bowlers to make this interesting.

India total should had been much higher considering they had lots of wickets in hand and playing Associate team. Any case India quality bowling and experience should be enough for easy win.

Axar Patel is a neither a bowler or a batsman. He's gonna cost India a big match down the line. He's such a halwa bowler, I reckon even I can tonk him for a few.

These Dutch batsmen looks so bad. All you have to do is bowl within the stumps and see them rattle one by one. Right now Indian bowlers are struggling to bowl in line of the stumps.

Shreyas Iyer would probably be a better idea. Pant tends to throw away his wicket by playing silly shots at crucial times.

Pant is a left hander. Even if he consistently gives 15 off 9 , that will have more impact than what KL gives currently.

Currently? He has been failing miserably for long in all formats of cricket.

India posted a target of 180 for Netherlands to chase in their Group 2 clash at the Sydney Cricket Ground, after half-centuries from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.

Winning the toss and batting first, India lost their opener KL Rahul relatively early. Netherlands bowled with great discipline in the Powerplay, restricting India to a score of 32/1.

But skipper Rohit Sharma then opened up his arms, bringing up a half-century. He would soon depart after bringing up his milestone, getting out for a 39-ball 53.

Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav then upped the aggression, with the former, bringing up consecutive half-centuries in the tournament after his memorable knock against Pakistan. He was well-supported by Yadav, who also played some brilliant shots, bringing up his half-century off the final ball.

Kohli scored a 62* off 44, while Yadav finished up with a 25-ball 51*, as India ended their innings at a score of 179/2 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Bhuvneshwar Kumar proceeded to bowl two maidens including a wicket to kick start things for India. India introduced spin early and found success with it as Axar Patel sent back Max O'Dowd off the second ball of the fifth over.

Bas de Leede and Colin Ackermann revived the innings a tad, albeit at slow pace, before Axar struck again to dismiss the former. Ashwin then further piled on Netherlands' woes by dismissing Ackermann and Tom Cooper in the same over.

Netherlands never really recovered from that point, ambling along to 123/9 as India sealed a win by 56 runs to push their net run rate up to +1.425.

That unravelled for Netherlands in the end. I thought they made a good start with the ball. Shame but you’d expect India to beat Netherlands 19 games out of 20.

Their bowling is good. THeir field set is good. strategy good. Fielding is good. Given the conditions they bowled as well as they could. But for pyrotechnics from SKY this probably would have been a lesser total

Pretty big win for India (as expected).

Kohli is yet to be dismissed in this World T20.

if we can't beat a team like netherlands by over 100 runs margin, how can we beat south africa and then others in the knock outs...disappointing performance...Kohli and Rahul are struggling even against minnows.

Kohli is heading towards another Player of The Tournament Award.
India's main concern is KL Rahul and death bowling. KL should be kicked out of the team ASAP.
Make Virat open with Sharma and bring in Rishabh Pant as a pure wicketkeeper since Karthik is doing extremely poor keeping nowadays.
Kohli's form should be utilised as much as possible.
Axar's inclusion makes no sense as he is garbage with the bat and poor bowler against quality sides. But, he will probably save his place as he is like to like replacement for Jadeja.

India should be playing with this team for the rest of tournament.
