This. It was simply an elite team and one of the best ever when it came to handling pressure

Can think of a few other situations when teams had them on the ropes but Aussies were just too good. One of the best examples was probably Australia v England at the 2003 World Cup. Epic choke by England.

New Zealand bowled them out cheaply in that World Cup too but then Australia knocked them over even cheaply.

2007 they were pretty much spotless though.

They let Scotland score 180 against them in the last World T20. This is why some people should never run their mouths.

Oman performed well against Aus in just last T20 wc..

Aus lost to Zim in 1983 WC if considering ODI Zim was associate then I think

Oman gave Australia a tough time too in the last World Cup. Though it was a far better Oman side. I remember Australia were something like 50-3 in 9 overs before Stoinis rescued them

In T20 small passage of play can be won by any team. Even under-19 team can win such passage of play against such teams. People extrapolate that too much.

Bangladesh barely beat Nepal in the same tournament. At the end of the day, as long as you don't lose, you're fine. It's T20 cricket, the margins are very fine.

Only Pakistan suffered the ultimate shame of being beaten by USA :wahab2
 
Oman performed much better than our team who could only score 127 and that too after Shaheen’s wild slogging.

Yes. It's T20 cricket. Slightly lopsided conditions and ending up on the wrong side of the toss is enough to knock even the best teams out.

Also some poor shot selection against an extremely ordinary ball, couple of freak run outs like India had today can put good opponents in uncomfortable situation briefly. In One dayers it is a lot harder though.

Well tbf that was a much tougher pitch to bat on. Doesn't excuse Pakistan's abysmal batting performance but it was a far tougher pitch to bat on against quality spin

Pakistan started very poorly against the pacers as well. If we talk about this match, Pakistan would not have done better than Oman even on this pitch. And so far Pakistan struggled to put up a decent score in every match. Can’t always blame the pitch.

Like I said, doesn't excuse Pakistan's abysmal batting performance but Pakistan recovered relatively well against the pacers after the initial jolt and scored something like 40 odd in four overs. It was when the spinners came on that they looked completely clueless and the whole innings started to unravel very quickly. Pakistan's batters have definitely been exposed to a great degree but I think you will see in the upcoming matches too that it's not an easy pitch to bat on.

you’re right Zimbabwe did beat Australia in 1083 WC. They have caused some serious upsets over the years.

Zimbabwe team of 1999 was very exciting. Not an elite team obviously but you got a sense of excitement watching them play, and it felt like they were on the up and up. They had some fantastic players. They beat South Africa pretty comprehensively in that World Cup too, who were one of the favorites to win the whole thing

Yeah , they were amazing, I used to enjoy their fielding and all rounders. They did well against Pak in a test series in Pak and against India in zim as well.(drew two series and beat us once- all less tests but still counts)

Yup they won a test series in Pak. Against a side featuring Waqar and Wasim. It was really disappointing to see what happened to ZC post-2003.

Whenever I see players like Colin de Grandhomme, Hilton Cartwright, the Curran brothers, can't help but think what a proper Zimbabwean side would have looked like today. Very sad.

They were too slow during first 10 overs. After first 10, they were 62/1.

Had they scored 20 more runs there, they could've won.

1st 10 overs: 62/1.

If you come up with Humbleness/Achievement ratio among fans Bangladesh will be sitting at the bottom of the barrell. You can see them always gloating about some random win they picked somewhere constantly. The sequence all these random wins in such a way and project themselves as world beaters.

Last t20? I meant forgot to mention, Talking about prime Australia 1999-07, even 2008-2015 Aus never let any associate score such amount against them in T20s.

A team that has been ranked no.1 since 2022 ( by the way record number of weeks) , a team that has won recent world cup, a team that has a 5.666 W/L ratio since last world cup, A team that has won 10 T20 series in a row, only team that has positive W/L ratio against every country in the world since T20 was created need to learn from a Bangladeshi fan about how much margin they have achieve while beating a minnow. Thanks for the valuable tip. Will keep that in mind. Epsecially when we play a T20 series against USA.

They never won a t20 undefeated.


But yea India looked like they were experimenting. Oman played well. It’s t20. Anything can happen.

Talking about BD fans.I am not even going to use that as an excuse of experiment. When a team like Oman does well against a no.1 ranked side normal cricket fan would congradulate Oman and move on. We are not talking about normal fans but Bangla fans.

Many of the wins in sharjah and more importantly they most often struggled in important matches like world cups, asia cups, benson and hedges cup etc.

Agree, India were obviously experimenting with Surya not even batting and part time bowlers being tried out. But Oman has to be congratulated for making more runs against India than the chest thumping Bangladeshis.
