What's new

India (202/5) & (3/0) defeat Sri Lanka (202/5) & (2/2) in a thrilling super over encounter in the last match of Super Four of Asia Cup 2025

Good nervy practice game for India before the big final. India was overconfident and now brought back to some reality and good experience for middle order today. If this was not fixed, it was a great game. SL was superb today.
lol Harshit Rana bowling last over raise suspicions

Good comeback by India after Shanaka brain-fade. Arshdeep bowled well in his last over and super over. And then ofcourse you had Surya playing the innings of his life in the super over

All in all, a very entertaining match. Nissanka played one of the finest T20 knocks I have seen in a while

For sure good practice.

And a good match for the casual neutral too.
Good game all round.

All Srilanka did was to exhaust Indian players with their brave fight..kudos to srilanka for their great effort..India should have left them win the game and should have relaxed their shoulders..but egoistic Arrogant India wants to win every game and took the game to 2 extra overs..Anyone would have been so tired with these kind of matches..but it's India..so definitely they are going to come back and demolish pakistan..Jai ho!!

Arshdeep should play the final game against India in place of Axar. In a high scoring game Bumrah and Arshdeep are needed in the last 5 overs consider pakistan lower order is in good hitting form .Nawaz , Faheem and Shaheen can slog big in the death overs
If we play Arshdeep, our batting depth will be reduced. On Dubai pitches, it is a fair selection to go with 2pacers+ 3 spinners combo, and Hardik doing his job well as the second pacer.
It’s sad that a bowler like Arshdeep is not in the final XI, but to accommodate him we have to change too many combinations, which is not good at this time.

My only worry is Tilak varma who made a super human effort to take that catch

That’s so sad they played so well in the actual innings and now they’ll be remembered for that super over.

Heartbroken for Nissanka. That knock shouldn't have been on the losing side.

I'd pay to watch this guy bat. Such a classy player.
Ditto. Dropping an occasional T20 match is no big deal for India as they are winning too many matches. But this would have been an epic match in their T20 history. SImilar to Afghanistan who played two tie breakers in the same match against India and lost it.

I just want to slap sky the way he is behaving on the field. Chapri se bhi ghatiya attitude hai. Uper se muh chalata rehta bhains ki tareh . Clowns :klopp :kp

I know you are being semi serious but it is the mark of a ruthless and excellent team to never stop the intensity. Losing one match can set off a losing streak, better to keep the opposition under the sword at all times.

It was the mark of the old Aussies that they never let up the intensity even in the dead rubbers.

The great Aussie team is what India should take inspiration out of as they ll have the opportunity to win multiple ICC trophies in the coming decade...

Since Jan 2024, India has won 35 out of 38 T20I matches.
Unreal consistency in the most fickle format.
World Champions for a reason. 🏆
actually 35 wins were shared by two set of teams. That shows the tremendous bench strength of India. 3 players retired mid way through.

I'm not count today match as win , it was pathetic performance by bowlers and more pathetic captaincy by Clown sky . :kp

SL has become minnow bashers. They won all 3 games in league phase when there were 2 genuine minnows in their group, and 3rd team was almost a minnow

They lost all 3 when there were decent opponents in super 4 even though they were bit unlucky to lose today's game after Nissanka and Kusal's assault on Indian bowlers

True. Rohit, Kohli & Jadeja won us a T20 World Cup but we have better players now.

Just imagine - Jaiswal & Iyer aren't able to break in this team.

But 35 win out of 38 matches is such a mind boggling stat. Generally in T20s , you are bound to have some rough patch. But not with this team.

The super over elimination only has academic significance.

In record books, this match will be registered as a tie.

But what a game? Great batting by Nissanka

Don't know when will he hang his boots as commentator
I've listened to him probably since he started and he was always pathetic. Initially he fooled you into thinking he was being unbiased. But then you realized he was just trying to be Australian or something. One of his early stints was with Ian Chappell and he got smacked badly when he said something about Gavaskar's record of the highest Indian individual score until VVS broke it being "not much" Chappell laid into him about a double hundred being "not much."

SL batters under a BCCI type set up would be unstoppable, they have tremendous talent but don't have proper apparatus to nurture and evolve them to the next level, which why the likes of Mendis, Pererira, Dikwella etc. end up becoming hit or miss.

:bumrahThey haven't won anything convincingly so far and on a brink of a loss before the final. They haven't been as ruthless as when I last saw them play in the world cup.
Last 38 games
India won 35 lost 3

No team can better that record. It doesnt matter what the situation is, in the end the result will remain the same. - an Indian Win

Tbh, SL is a very unpredictable team- every once a while they will come up with such a ‘dhasu’ performance and then a bunch of average ones. But the ceiling is high for them if they get more consistent.

Man missed the last 10 overs and the super over drama. Lankans deserved it. Monster innings from Nissanka. Kudos.

My guess is this will be the pitch for final as well. India had a good practice on it. It played true for both teams. Will be a cracker of a final.

Gambhir and Agarkar destroyed Arshdeep by continuously benching him. He was our best bowler in last T20 world cup.
They won't do it. Has skills and also great nerves. His bowling at the death in the T20 WC final was insane. So was Bumrah's so they will pick him.

No great Aussie team. They were cheats and got lucky when other teams weren’t as professional apart from SA

West Indies. Take inspiration from 80s West Indies

Comments show how Indians were rooting for Nissanka to pull it off. Good support for SL from India

This match was fixed by BCCI to give Indian team a wake up call before final..... India won all their matches one sided, so Indian team shouldn't be complensant before the final..... therefore it is fixed match
