I won't say he is on the decline. He has had these mini phases even when he was at the peak. Right now he is not at his best touch. That is true. But not on decline. Temporary lull. HE is still ranked world no.1 in Tests and ODIs. One reason he has been scratchy is he is skipping a lot of one dayers. Mostly Rohit leads the side. He plays all 3 formats. According to calendar he is the busiest cricketer in the world despite breaks. He takes time to be in sync with the Indian ODI line up

Having seen the way Warner pace his innings so sedately of late, he's clearly short of match practice. Pre-ban Warner would never have found himself 8 off 25 balls.

Australia made a blunder dropping Handscomb and making Khawaja bat at 3, when he actually prefers to bat against the harder ball in the first powerplay overs.

Ideally I would have Khawaja opening instead of Warner and promote Steve Smith to 3 and bring Handscomb in the side to occupy the spot at 4 or 5.

You can never write off the Aussies, but Handscomb's exclusion might leave them sweating a little bit more.
