India (373/7) defeat Sri Lanka (306/8) by 67 runs to win the 1st ODI

Only way we can Play sky if Kishan play instead of gill and sky instead of rahul

Kishan
Rohit
Virat
Iyer
Sky
Pandya
Jadeja
Kuldeep
Siraj
Bumrah
Umran
My playing eleven for world cup if these players are fit

Just woke up and checked the scorecard. All Indian batsmen feasted on mediocre Lankan attack.

Siraj has turned into an excellent bowler. Must play all formats from now on. He is the 2nd best bowler after Bumrah in India.

And this is why Kohli, Rohit and KL played. How can they let Kishan, Sky and even Samson:)ab) demolish this lankan attack and secure their spots in the team? :inti

Hardik bowling is improving day by day but his batting is in regression mode

Sangakkara was non-stop blabbering in Indian innings how this is flat pitch there is nothing for bowlers no pace blah blah blah
Now he is tight lipped

Rahul has batted fine today..39 of 29.. he is good at no 5 when hitting but question is in a pressure game, will he able to take India past the line? As of now, he hasn't shown the temperament for the same.

All srilankan X players are biased, they never praise anyone apart from srilanka ..

Look at Mohammad Siraj, two wickets upfront. This is why you want a strike bowler first up and that's why I was backing him in India's squad for all formats.

He is better than all our bowlers when it comes to picking wickets upfront with new ball. Things could have been different had we taken Siraj to World Cup. We instead went with Bhuvi because of his bilateral consistency but Waqar Younis during Asia Cup said it numerous times that Bhuvi lacks the pace which really is needed for India on flat decks to pick wickets upfront.

169-0 and 152-0 won't have happened if we played Mohammad Siraj in the team. I would pick him and Bumrah over any of the other pacers in Indian team.

This series is not a part of ODI Super League. So, this is effectively a dead rubber series.

There is lots of competition between Indian pace bowlers.

Bumrah and Siraj are a lock. Then there is only one spot remaining. Umran/Arshdeep/Shami/Chahar has to fight it out for the 3rd pace bowler spot. If Pandya is bowling well, India may not even need the 3rd pacer slot.

Arshdeep bowls too many no-balls. I think Umran should be the 3rd bowler.

Such a satisfying sight to see Chahal getting tonked.

Chahal gives too much air and bowls slowly too. Too much time for batsmen to adjust and play the big shots. Not sure why he persists bowling like that.

Soft century by Kohli. :inti

For thr past month or so you were fighting against the world defending Babar's 100s on those roads which eventually didn't even win 1 match for his team. Now you come here and call Kohli's century as soft. I thought you are a rational and neutral memeber who doesn't support based on personal likes and dislikes but god how I was wrong.

India va SL T20 are atleast worth watching, the 50overs are hardly ever worth watching.

Srilanka has too many bits and pieces players. They don't have big innings playes. That works in T20. But in ODI that is not enough

You got that perfectly right. My comment was for those who call Babar's each run soft these days irrespective of match situation. Waiting for those hypocrites to talk about the pitch, bowling attack now. :ab :inti

We need to fit Surya somehow and extract most of his golden run. He is 31 and in his absolute prime.

Maybe open with KL Rahul next game, drop Gill and bat SKY at no 5.

Long story short, Ishan Kishan should be no where the ODI team...thank you

Or long story short, Sanju Samson then should be no where the ODI squad too...thank you :viru :inti

Good to see Bhuvi fans have taken a U-turn on Umran now. They can't be relied on any player as they take U-turn as per their wish :91: :inti

in last 2 years highest batting average in any test host nation is PAK 37, second best zim at 31.4
of course that is called playing on roads. few 'fake neutrals' unable to digest the facts.

Umran Malik has certainly made one poster upset here. There is no other way left for him now, he has to support Umran and make up lies regarding Bhuvi and his so called fans. :91:

Kishan - check
Umran - check
Samson is next :inti

We are too complacent and are not ruthless enough.

No way SL should have been allowed to reach anywhere close to 300.

Poor team, led by an equally poor captain.

These jokers will face the reality in the real world cup.

Shami looks to be expendable from all formats. Way too unfit, looks one trick pony.

Rohit dropped a catch of Umran. Shanak would have been long gone.

Umran is a wicket taker but he leaks runs a lot. Question is will that pace be enough vs top team batters like England, Kiwi or Aussie batters to produce quick wickets? That I am not sure.

I will pick Bumrah and Siraj definitely ahead of him. With Shami and Prasidh and Umran, there is a choice for third pacer which is still to be made.

No Umran was fine. Shanaka just used his pace And also Rohit had terrible field set for Umran.

His economy in other series isn't that good too. I am not going to go too much into economy as long as he picks wickets but against top teams especially the SENA teams, they are used too with 145+ kph speed so that will not hurt them as much. His wicket taking skills will be tested then.

it was a mediocre bowling effort from mid way but the whining on this thread right from the toss has been **** poor. whining on every inhalation and exhalation of players. bitter.

Virat Kohli and Dasun Shanaka stole the limelight as India defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.

Virat Kohli scored 113 off 87 balls -- his 73rd international century -- as India posted a formidable total of 373 for 7 against the guests, who ended their quota of 50 overs at 306 for 8, thanks to Dasun Shanaka's unbeaten 108 off 88 balls.

For India, Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) laid a solid platform with a 143-run opening stand after Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first.

Kasun Rajitha picked three wickets but he leaked 88 runs in his 10-over spell. During Sri Lanka's chase, Dasun Shanaka, Pathaum Nissanka (72) and Dhananjaya de Silva (47) showed good resilience but failed to avoid a defeat.

Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 57.

SIraj was leaking runs in the end overs. So he was taken off. Umran was brought on. He immediately created teh opportunity. it is not his fault Rohit shelled a catch.

You still have doubts regarding Umran Malik lol? Have you ever watched Shoaib, Bond, Lee bowl live? :inti

If they had attacked Chahal they would have had a shot. India scored just 30 odd runs in the last 5 overs. Should have touched 400 plus easily. Gauhati is known for extreme dew under lights especially last 20 overs perfect for hitting.

For me, Bumrah and Siraj are locked. Bumrah's death over skills were missed today.

For 3rd pacer, I am still not confident on any of Shami, Umran or Prasidh so will watch them in more games before concluding. These three however should be in our scheme of things for the squad.

For now we have to take Bumrah out of the equation. His fitness is still uncertain. He may even miss world cup.

That would be a huge loss for us. If Bumrah isn't fit, we are not favourites for the World Cup. Death over bowling well be meh. Chances of getting to semis itself will be very less.

How many times has this been said during last few years?

Only by fans. They carried him to Aussie land. Didn't play him even against minnow :) Now he is once again our lead spinner. Kuldeep only recently took 4 for 18 against SA. He can hold his bat.

Death over batting is also mhe. We scored 38 runs today in the last 5 79 in the last 10.

India's bowling in ODIs :-

Bumrah - Good with new ball, brilliant in death overs.

Shami - Excellent with new ball, bad in death overs. But age might be catching him

Siraj - Excellent with new ball, inconsistent in death overs but he has skills to execute yorkers well.

Umran- Enforcer in middle overs, want to see him more in death overs. He needs to take up that role.

Prasidh - Excellent with new ball, bad in death overs. He has height and can extract bounce and pace on pitches which have a bit of bounce.

Arshdeep- Can swing both ways but lack pace and doesn't have mastery with new ball either. Good in death overs but again pace might be done when it comes to long spell bowling.

lol, isn't it funny?

Kuldeep takes 4-for in his last ODI, he is dropped from the next ODI we played.
Kuldeep takes 7-for in his last test, he is dropped from the next test we played.
Kishan scores fastest ever double ton in ODIs, he is dropped from the next ODI we played.
