Batter at no 8 means batsmen can always keep being aggressive.

India won both 2024 WC and 2025 CT w/o dropping a match due to batting at 8.

He's as good as a proper batsman in T20s (31avg at 140 SR) and is good enough for a few overs in the middle. He is anyways the 6th bowler so might not even bowl. More of an emergency thing.

You may not have seen him bowl but he has plenty of experience bowling in IPL and domestic.

In T20 it doesn't make sense to play the extra batter when you have so many all-rounders at your disposal. And his batting numbers are good too. I remember everyone (myself included) was slagging him during the last T20 WC. But fact is, he stepped up when India needed him to perform in the Final.

Anyway , there's no way to bat until #8 and still have 6 bowling options without picking guys like Dube.

Yes I think having a deep batting order and multiple bowling options matters alot in T20 now. But you also need players who can do both roles relatively well.
