What's new

India (60/1) defeat UAE (57) empathically by 9 wickets in a one-sided encounter in Asia Cup 2025

The one player who is missing from the Indian line-up and who really deserves to be there is Shreyas Iyer.

The competition for spots in the Indian T20 team is crazy. Iyer would walk into the playing XI of most teams based on current form.
Bang on.
The funny part is Iyer could walk into any side playing in Asia Cup (including) and captain it as well.

Pandyas new look is cringe, however not as cringe, chavvy and trashy as this look....

I guess it's all relative :cobra

I like batsmen who bat till the end and put a prize on their wicket
This is Test cricket? You only have 120 balls as a team. 36 of them are when you can only have 2 fielders outside of the circle. What good is putting a price on your wicket if your team is falling behind?

Unfortunately our ex cricketers think the same. Aamir Sohail and Salman Butt were criticizing Farhan to go after the opposition during first over which is actually his role. Wasim Akram today was going gaga over A Sharma today; 'I haven't seen anything like this' when Afridi and Gayle were doing the same in longer formats 20 years ago. Some people are still stuck in 90s.

Among the openers with 10 plus matches or more Abhishek has the highest strike rate in T20 history

That’s an interesting point about just having 36 balls with 2 fielders outside.

Batting first is there a team, international or franchise, that you think sets the template on how to approach powerplay in t20?

If any Bangladeshi has blonde hair, I would also call that out. I call out Taskin's past blonde hair. Anyway, he has black hair now.

That's the difference between you Indians and us normal people. We are not blind nationalists. We don't jump around like monkeys if our country/countrymen get criticized. We know how to take criticism. You should learn from us. :inti

Just Indian being Indian. LOL.

They bring up random stuff which have nothing to do with the thread. :yk
These Indians have this impulse of 'defending honour' of their players when on one is even attacking them.

They appear so desperate for Pakistanis to praise their players that they keep sneaking in random stats to boast how mahaan bhartiya players are. :misbah

They expect everyone to praise India 24/7 (that too on a non-Indian platform). Pretty high entitlement.

They live in a cuckoo land. :inti

Pitch was also different.
Regardless, the second best Asian side should be expected to score a bit more than 66?

UAE is getting destroyed by Indian media right now and mocked across the board. They are actual minnows, and coming up against the best T20 side in the world.

But Afghanistan’s humiliation has been ignored completely, maybe because Pakistan was the one who inflicted it?

Afghanistan has only one way to win. When they don't get it, they don't win.

Sure, but ignoring Afghanistan’s humiliating display while absolutely murdering UAE and questioning their place in this Asia Cup?

It’s not the first time an associate has been decimated this way. Pakistan beat Hong Kong by 155 runs in 2022, but you didn’t see our media run their mouths like this.

It’s downright disrespectful, UAE boys were doing their best out there. You don’t have to insult their presence in this tournament just to prove India is a brilliant team.

Such terrible collapses can even happen to the best teams. I am sure if the same UAE team were to face the same Indian team tomorrow, they (would lose for sure but) won't collapse as badly.

A team like South Africa lost the dead rubbers of the recent ODI series against Australia and England by humiliating margins of 276 and 339 (a record defeat by runs) runs respectively. Nobody in South Africa is having a go at the team or the cricket board. Those defeats largely went unnoticed because RSA won both series 2-1.

With all the discussions going on about india such as them being too superior to be in this Asia Cup, can send a second string team to win this asia cup or add Africa to make it more competitive and stuf like that, i feel it might get real ugly for india in this tournament as it progresses.

And why do you feel this?

Any logical reason? Or just hope/wishful thinking?

Considering:

1. They are the WCs and won it undefeated
2. They are the no 1 ranked team
3. They have a 27-3 record since 2024 (and those 3 did not have Bumrah and one was a complete B team)
4. The 2nd highest ranked team in the tournament is ranked 6th

India have won the AC multiple times undefeated in recent years.

Yes pride hath a fall but this false pride is limited to the fans/media. Ind payers are thorough professionals.

Complete dominance by India and as expected, they won by a big margin... 10 wickets win would have been a perfect one but anyways.. it was still a great display of bowling and batting...

Lol where did nationalism come in, why are BD in general so touchy that every time an Indian points out something wrong they try to corner Indians as nationalists. What a strange tactic, maybe thats what being a jammati does to their brains....
:noori

Pakistani bowlers against India should be --> Shaheen, Rauf, Faheem, M Nawaz, Sufiyan, Abrar, Saim.

XI:

Farhan (wk)
Saim
Fakhar
Agha (c)
H Nawaz
M Nawaz
Faheem
Shaheen
Rauf
Abrar
Sufiyan.
Terrible lineup. PAK don't need 7 bowlers. Take Rauf out and play a batsman. No need to change the template that has worked well recently.

Ind, Aus and NZ never lose to minnows.

NZ consistently make KOs by not losing the matches they shouldn't.

Never? That's not factually accurate.

NZ lost to BD in 2017 CT.
India lost to BD in 2007 WC, 2012 Asia Cup, 2023 Asia Cup.
Australia lost to Zimbabwe in 2007 World T20 and Afghanistan in 2024 World T20.

Its a tough decision but the issue with taking out Harris Rauf is that Faheem may ball at death overs. Using Sufyan to bowl 19th over can be risky.

They rarely lose to minnows. But 'never' is factually incorrect.

Australia lost to Afghanistan in the last T20 World Cup. They may not be minnows anymore but they are a far weaker team. Afghanistan would have beaten them in the 2023 World Cup too had it not been for poor fielding and Maxwell playing an ATG knock.

New Zealand probably has the best record against minnows in ICC tournaments. But they lost a T20I to UAE too a couple of years ago, though not in an ICC tournament.

Hair color is someone’s personal choice, calling it out is idiotic. Doesnt matter if he is Bangladeshi or Indian.

NZ lost to Afghanistan in the last World T20 as well, same as Australia

Faheem bowled well in the recently concluded tri-series, and was actually bowling with alot of smarts and according to the conditions. It's not like Rauf is Bumrah or Umar Gul either that we absolutely need to play him because of his death-bowling prowess.

If PAK want that batting depth, then there is little choice. One of Sufiyan /Rauf cannot play.

Faheem and Nawaz are the only allrounders available

Exactly which media outlet/channel/website/news paper you came across 'getting destroyed by indian media and mocked across the board"?
Or could it be possible that Maybe you mistook normal reporting of the events on the field , which is what most channels/websites worldwide including yours are doing - as 'getting destroyed and mocked'?

Once again, exactly where did you see 'run their mouths like this' and 'insulting their presence in this tournament'
which outlet exactly said UAE should not be in this tournament, before/after/during yesterday's match?

Lot of sub 100 all outs can be seen in this edition. So far only 3 teams have been bowled out under 100 in Asia cup T20.

UAE - 2 times
Hongkong - 1 time
Pakistan - 1 time
