I love the many comments I'm reading from Indian fans and it goes like this:

India only lost because Kohli decided to bowl first.

These people don't realize we won our previous 3 matches - all while chasing.

Who is to say if we bowled first we wouldn't have dismissed India for under 200 and chased it down? Just like we dismissed South Africa, Sri Lanka and England cheaply.

Tbh all the papers and pundits finally realized the power and strength of Pakistan this is no fluke win

Oh don't you worry bro.

There are 5 phases of Loss :srt

This and many other threads are clearly meant to draw a reaction. Really poor attempt at one.

Needless to say this is not even hurting much. And the team is already catching a flight to the windies. Sad to see them play non stop but when you are earning millions you have your work cut out.

Also we are not in any denial. This is a one day game and the team that plays well on the given day wins which your team did. Now moving on we already have some fantastic tours coming up, I just hope the PCB is able to arrange some for your team coz it would be such a shame to lose steam after finally you lot started to perform in the odis after a long time. Wish you well in your future games.

And who decided to bowl first after winning the toss? The Indian captain.

I agree with most of what you say. But I do think maybe this "we'll take it as just another game" vs. sarfaraz's "we are very excited to play final" might have made a difference.
I can see why it worked for Pakistan, but I can also see why getting over-excited might not work for India. They've far more silverware in recent times than Pakistan. Maybe its all post-event justification, but I think Pakistan were hungrier for it.
I think Kohli has gave an excellent pressers throughout the tournament including post-final, but I do think he went at pains to dissect logically and took the emotion out of it. Passion has a role to play in sports.

Is it too hard to accept defeat. To say your opponent beat you fair and square. Just admit it and move.

An observation: More and more posts by Indians: saying how X is filthy rich and how X is earning millions

:yk

We don't care!

Absolutely the more hungrier team won it and that is a fitting end to this tournament. Indian Cricket Team after having won a lot of silverware have become a bit bland and monotonous and this whipping will definitely and hopefully revitalize their hunger to win games of cricket with a little more passion and bring in some necessary changes for the next world Cup.

Is everything ok with my Indian friends? As I have millions of Indian friend, especially many my Noreg High school friends and no one is taking my calls or replying back my text?

Are you guys ok? I know mother nature can be so cruel and sometimes a special viral attack can happen to the entire one ethnicity regardless of where they live on the planet. I am so worried about my friends, I am just trying to approach them if they need any my help?

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends

Never let your friends feel lonely.

Yo, I remember you. I am glad, you aren't getting spammed by junk messages.

No excuses here Pakistan played the best cricket in the final. I always wanted Ind vs Pak final because we don't play against each other much.

Also this is a good lesson for hardcore IPL fans. They were in delusion that IPL finals are the most exciting and intense games. Now you know what winning and losing against your arch rival means. If you are still not sure just watch the news channels. They all will be waiting for the next Indo Pak match to take revenge but thanks to BCCI they are not going to get that. Keep waiting for the next world cup. :inti

They obviously have a lot of passion, just show it a little less. But at the end of the day, passion can't do much alone.

Yes, maybe passion in this game was the incremental that made the difference.

Here's what a Indian friend posted in my Badminton group after the defeat:

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

I’ve seen a lot of anti-India ranting here in the past and certainly yesterday - almost like a deranged hermit blabbering away with no respect or consideration to time and occasion.

Imagine two neighbours, who have young boys who compete regularly in a race and ……..boy they race hard. While one boy has been tremendously successful, the other kid is working very hard to improve and despite several unprecedented challenges and moments of hopelessness, he finally managed to break the hoodoo and win a race to signal a potential epoch. Now at this winning moment, instead of running to his boy, hugging him, praising him for his efforts and basking in the glory of this incredibly hard earned success, the father of that boy runs to his neighbour and starts yelling “*** murdaabad, death to you ……shame on you, you Mushrik, You Kaafir, You Jahaanumi…..and so on” and while all this time the boy who worked his entire life for this moment is standing bewildered waiting for that hug and appreciation from his father and on second thoughts, looking his father’s action, perhaps wondering if this is the reason why success has eluded him for so long?

We are in the month of fasting, which to some people is no more than refraining from food and drink during the day time. We’ve been told to focus solely on Ibaadah and strongly told to avoid confrontation, arguments and fights. Yet, in the messages yesterday, the taunting tone with a very strong underlay of venomous blind hatred was impossible to miss.

I have always believed that a person’s speech and behaviour is a manifestation of 3 things
1) His own individual character
2)His upbringing and
3) His beliefs.

Every word and action is a reflection of one or more or all of the 3 things above.

Using derogatory speech, trying to insinuate hate and animosity, trying to poke fun and derive sadistic pleasure from others, especially in this blessed month begs some serious questions.

If you don’t care about your own self, on how your words and actions reflect your character and personality then atleast spare a thought about your parents/guardians who worked tirelessly to make you a good Muslim and a better human being. Hopefully they didn’t lack in their effort to inculcate good character and values in you.

Now if you don’t even care about yourself or even your parents, then at least look up to our beloved Messenger ﷺ. If you profess to be a “aashiq-e-rasool” or an Ummati then perhaps take a leaf out of the noble life of our beloved Messenger ﷺ. He forgave even the murderers of own kin, didn’t fight or argue with a Jew who urinated in Masjid Nabwi in the presence of our beloved Messenger ﷺ and Umar rz, forgave Abu Sufiyaan while entering the gates of Mecca and even forgave the inhabitants of Taif who physically assaulted our beloved Messenger ﷺ leaving him bleeding profusely.

And yet …..the behaviour of the self professed “aashiq-e-rasool” or “Ahle Sunnah” couldn’t be more opposite….

Finally, if you don’t care about yourself, your parents or the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger ﷺ then at the minimum, listen to Allah. Quran is laden with Ayyah’s which expect a good, humble and polite character from a Muslim. If you are not even doing this, then perhaps time to introspect if you really are a Muslim because if not following the commands of Allah and the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger ﷺ isn’t a fundamental requirement to be a Muslim, then I am not sure what else is….

May Allah forgive me if I have said anything wrong, for I will be amongst the greatest of all losers if Allah doesn’t forgive me.

Rabigfirli – Ya Raabul Aaleem – Rabigfirli….Aameen

Talk about making an Indian drama about it

When Indians try to pass off as humble and modest after being handed a real whooping is beyond hilarious. I know it stings, coupled with the fact you lost on Father's Day is a double whammy. That joke is on you for an eternity.

😂

It's funny because had they won their reaction would have been arrogant and down-right disrespectful like it has been on all previous occasions.

They can dish it but aren't man enough to take it.

Make no mistakes about it my friends.

We brutally crushed the dreams, the arrogance and the delusion of over one billion people. Such is our power!

Such is the power of the Pakistani nation!

Let that sink in.

On their father's day, a large portion of smug Indians were walking towards the oval stadium. Blowing horns and singing hymns of their obvious win to come.

It was only around 15 overs of India's batting, only 15 overs of their proud batting and hordes of Indians were seen rushing out of the stadium. As if they suddenly had an important appointment to attend. What could be more important for an Indian than to have the privilege of experiencing the amazing batting skills of their superstars live on field?

With the win on Sunday they wanted to crush us. They were looking forward to teach us a lesson. A lesson for the history books. They attended to humiliate us so badly that even our next generation would not dare to think of playing against India. A victory to gloat about for years to come.

They wanted to show us the gap in quality and skill between them and us. They were assured that by handing us a brutal beating they would answer for once and for all, why they don't play against us regularly. It's so obvious, we are not worthy enough to be their opponent and they were looking forward to proving it to us.

Come June 18 and they will manhandle us and assert their total dominance for all to see. They will make us cry and beg for mercy. They were looking forward to cheer on their players as they lift up the trophy while our players would stand their in total humiliation and regret.

Never did they once recognized our fight back in the tournament. They played it down. It was all because if a series of good fortune, so they thought. They underestimated the will power of our youngesters and were caught off guard.

They can now downplay the loss, as much as they want. But the world knows what the Indians were hoping to demonstrate on June the 18th. On their father's day they had everything prepared for a night long party.

Look at various pre match videos on YouTube and you will get a sense of the amount of arrogance that was surrounded by a vast majority of Indians. Imagine the billions of Indians back home, their excitement level and self-belief just right before the match.

Even when the target of 339 was set. They were fully confident and deluded in their arrogance. They wanted us to mark their words that their incredible India will chase it down easily.

Oh how much it must have hurt!

When the expectations and dreams are high, the arrogance and delusions are over the moon, a slap by reality is infinitely times more painful.

That's the reason the Indian's were rushing out of the ground despite their proud batting still going on. Had they stayed any longer the world would have seen some ugly scenes. Scenes of the oval ground getting flooded by a strom. A storm of Indian tears.

India are still the better team, but despite how much their bowling has improved this game should end the myth that they now have better bowling then us.

Bhuvi averages 38 in odis, he is what people accuse Amir of being.

Our weakest pacer, Junaid, would walk into India's 11, not to mention that Shadab outbowled both Sir Jadeja and Ashwin

One tournament is not enough to see how things stand between the two teams. In the last 2-3 years before the CT, India's bowlers averaged 7 points less than Pakistan's.

Shami (with an ODI bowling average around 24) can't find a spot in India's XI, let alone Junaid.

What an incoherent rant. Never have I once witnessed these "muslim" Indians standing up to their fellow countrymen on social media and asking them to behave. In fact I have witnessed the opposite.

What kind of rubbish is this? It is all in your head. We couldn't care less about humiliating Pakistan. How much celebration did you see after being Pakistan by 124 runs in the first match?

I'm surprised that you are happy at seeing people sad and crying. Be happy that your team won, not how much other fans were hurt.

Well put and so accurate!

Also, why was arrogant Tendulkar there in the crowd? The Indian cameras showed him when Pakistan was batting as he traveled thinking India will win and he can celebrate with them. The cameras didn't even show his face the entire second innings?I thought he's the greatest batsman ever? Wouldn't you show his face?????? Or did he leave early????

That's not because of Indian bowlers ability. When Indian batting score 300+ regularly, other teams have to go hard at bowlers from early on and take risks.

Like in Oval batting first India would likely have made 250 despite losing early wickets. But since they were chasing 338, they toke more risks and were bowled out for 158. I didn't see anything special from Indian bowlers in all tournament, they didn't move either new or old ball.

Pakistan won the last encounter between the 2 teams (quiet convincingly) - we are the better team until we play again - no question!

This win is getting to your heads. In ODIs, this is still how the teams stand:

England/India
Australia
South Africa
New Zealand
Pakistan

According to you. YOU.

And what time period are you basing that on? Australia handed you a new one last World Cup.

If you are going by recent results instead then Pakistan whooped you bleeding.

Totally concur, had Indians won the game they most certainly would have stooped to new lows. I'm not buying this facade of the entire Indian community acquiring much needed heart transplants overnight. They aren't humbled, merely digressing from the outcome of the 'War' as they referred to it. To be frank, they are beyond devastated. Totally broken. 😎

According to me, rankings and most non-Pakistais.

I'm basing it on consistent performance over the last 1-2 years. Not one match.

West Indies won an ODI against Pakistan. Does that mean they are better than Pakistan?

What was our reaction after winning by 124 runs two weeks ago? Did we disrespect Pakistan? Did we make posts saying we are happy to see Pakistan humiliated?

Ah cut the BS. How is it based on rankings when rankings has South Africa as number 1 and you have them 4th? It goes to show it's just your opinion (which no one will take seriously).

You my friend might just be a special snowflake. A anomaly among the Indian fans. I applaud you for that. My comments are in no way meant to describe each and every Indian fan, but a large portion of them. It is strictly describing them. It's also not referring to the general attitude of the Indian team.

Virat also comes across as an atypical and humble Indian unlike another Indian great.

Open the whole congratulation threads of cricketers .All have said pakistan was least expected to even be in semi final. Pakistan is unpredictable, tomorrow ypu may loose to afghanistan also. So relax.we have also won champions trophy last time where pakistan wasnt even able to win a single match i guess if i am not wrong. this time also we are finalists and that too when we played our poorest of cricket.Rankings are like this...
australia
india
south africa
,england ,
new zealand
Bangladesh
sri lanka
pakistan
westindies

I have heard reports of Tendulkar leading the Indian's fan on their brave retreat back home. He is said to have been the forerunner. Still unconfirmed though.

General reaction amongst Indians was pretty poor towards Pakistan throughout this tournament.

The most overused quote in Indian media and social media was how England India final would be the most challenging game, and Pakistan in the final would be a boring easy game.

Along with this, they have taken massive pot shots throughout at things as petty as Sarfraz' English and compared this to political situations and gaining revenge on Pakistan.

Its been poor and the only exception has been the Indian team themselves- who come across as a pretty decent genuine guys with alot of flair/likeable arrogance.

Guess It was a boring , easy game- just for the other side ;)

Those are not bad comments. Anyone could predict that England would be a more challenging opponent for India, considering they are the better team. That is not arrogant.

Well if you constantly put down your opponent and talk them down like they dont deserve to be on the same stage you then you deserve the whooping of a lifetime.

No one said England wouldn't be a better opponent- they are no1 in the world imo but it is the fact that India cannot pick and choose what is "better for cricket" or who gives them more of a challenge. If we are going by this analogy then why does India deserve to be in the final or why is that good for cricket?

Did they not play Bangla in the semi owing to a technicality? or lose to Lanka?

If we are going by ratings then India isnt the top 2 in the world

It was disrespectful and had the air of someone whose god given right it was to be there in the first place.

What about mocking him for his lack of English? he's clearly not anglophone. Mate stop trying to defend your pals, they were wrong/spiteful on every level, thus you guys deserve every second of your Father's Day humiliation. Just my opinion.

I agree. The young Indians never imagined this could happen. Not used to this. A young Pakistani team beating them. Nothing short of a miracle.
The world welcomes a rejenuvated Pak team

Not at all, atleast not me.

Pakistan played such positive cricket, they stormed back into the tournament after that first loss, the intensity was fantastic right throughout. To beat the No.1 team in the world, then a takented Srilankan team, then the tournament favorites and then the defending Champions all in must win games deserves credit. I hope Pakistan achieves a lot more success in future.

As for India, we are still a very good side, hopefully we will continue to do well.

we should stop gloating now guys.

We played very very well, and the Indian team have been very humble in defeat. We had our time to celebrate, now let's be good winners and stop trying to draw negative reactions from our Indian brothers

I don't know what people are talking about. Last Sunday I was not at home, was meditating at a spa. Don't have cable connection and no newspapers, no social media. Also have short term memory loss. So can someone explain what this thread is about?

My Indian friend made a stupid argument saying that Pakistan only technically won 1 game before making the semis. His logic was that the SA game we won off DLS:facepalm: He's bitter saying that 1 win shouldn't make you a world champ:))

Indians have certainly become major hockey fans :)) All major Indian news sites had the hockey news update as prominently displayed as the cricket news. One even had a separate headline to say the hockey team wore black armbands to protest "attacks against their army".

Some Indians said they never cared about the Champions Trophy. 1 billion people watched the game... wonder who they were.

Get real fellas. That was one hell of a beatdown your boys took.

They've been anything but. I found the Indian fans to be gracious in defeat and praiseworthy of Pakistan's accomplishment.

2 reasons makes this defeat hard to take for hardcore the average Indian Fan.

1) There are hardcore Indian fans that love making this more than just a game. People talking about Kashmir, religion, insults and sooooo much self-entitlement it makes England fans look humble.

2) Alot of ex-cricketers and Celebs chimed in. It's clear there is a massive lack of integrity and professionalism in Indian media. Tabloid style journalism stands out. Even to their standards, they took it too far. Shoaib Akhtar was the voice of reason when interviewed along with a smug Sehwag and a presenter looking to stir stuff up.

Let's face it, India thought it was in the bag. The average Pakistani fan was hopeful that it wouldn't be a painful loss.

Summary: Indians turned this game into more than just cricket, now is reaping the misery it sowed.

Sad, Imagine how strong PCB and BCCI would be if they worked together.

Hey, no denial here... bookies said there was a 65% to 70% chance of India winning and I thought it was accurate.

30% to 35% event happens 30% to 35% of the time, so no surprise for me about Pakistan winning this one. If Pakistan win the next 3 then I will be really surprised.

I wonder if you'd ask an average Indian from the street to name a couple of their hockey players without looking it up, would they be able to do it?

This win is getting to your heads. In ODIs, this is still how the teams stand:

England/India
Australia
South Africa
New Zealand
Pakistan

lol ... 180 runs and 8 wicket phanti's given to both top teams

If that's how top teams perform in big tournaments, I don't want to be no. 1

Yes after the 124 run victory Indian fans were mocking Pak right here on this site as well as on heir own ones!! Many Indian fans have humbly accepted that they simply lost to a better side where as others are seeking cheap excuses. Indian players are welcome to their million's, tours and being adored by their fans, why should Pak or it's fans even care about that? Pak has proved that despite their IPL the PPL is producing big hitters as well. We have proved that Pak Cricket easily survives with or without India.

They've been anything but. I found the Indian fans to be gracious in defeat and praiseworthy of Pakistan's accomplishment.

I agree most Indian fans have been gracious, many genuinely.

The problem is no Indian fan thought India could lose, let alone by such a huge margin.

It's not too bad when youre team is the underdog and loses by a few runs or a wicket or two but when you are odds on favourites and are demolished like a minnow, in a final, cant be easy to take.

Who made you the spokesperson for over a billion Indian's? Yes millions of Indians did want to absolutely crush Pakistan to the degree that we would be singing your anthem. Then there are the millions of humble ones who just saw it as a Cricket match. I am enjoying seeing the arrogance, delusion and pride wiped of the faces of many not all Indians.

Some are saying pandya would have won the match if not for jadeja!! LOL which means he would have scored around 230-240.India took one hell of a beating i thoroughly enjoyed the moment but now time to move on!!

I wonder if you'd ask an average Indian from the street to name a couple of their hockey players without looking it up, would they be able to do it?

Just a few days back they were telling us how Hockey is irrelevant. Yesterday NDTV had it is their headlines news after they beat us. Nonetheless, even in this undemanding Sport we have won the World Cup four times to their one. Dada akhir dada hota hai:afridi

That's a correct assessment.. Yes a lot of people wanted to crush Pakistan because of the hatred towards them, a lot saw it as just a match and a lot did not even care about the match and did not watch it were busy with their own real life problems you know like trying to get something to eat at night..

I don't see any harm in accepting Pakistan was the better team on the day why people have to find excuses is just plain stupid.. BCCI now needs to evaluate where we went wrong and plan their future rather than finding excuses we need to find replacements for Dhoni and Yuvi, Jadeja and Ashwin for 2019 WC which will be in England.. 2 years is more than enough time to groom youngsters.. If we keep playing the same team for 2019 WC we won't win that and that would be an actual problem..

:inti

I don't think there is even a single person in India who would say an IPL final trumps any India v Pakistan cricket match.. If you do find such a person do let me know would love to know stupidity and delusion has reached new heights..

LOL this post is the definition of Denial :))) :))) :))

NDTV would have showed the result of hockey match regardless of who won and regardless of cricket results.. Their sports section is pretty good and shows about all sports even show about football, formula 1, tennis, golf etc.. Channels like Times Now, Republic, ABP news showed the hockey result as breaking news which was funny because before the hockey match they didn't give 1 min air time to hockey and were focussed on cricket.. Well not times now and republic they don't focus on sports but the other Hindi news channels..

They would not have made Hockey the main headline news had the won at the Cricket. It was simply a way to lessen the blow. I am glad you agree that generally no one cares about field Hockey.

NDTV might have their sports section is pretty good for all sports and they focus less on cricket than other TV channels.. The other channels would not have cared if India won or if India had won then they might have taken the stance where they would show how we won in both cricket and hockey and used both the results to mock Pakistani teams.. But yes generally not many care about hockey and the headlines about hockey was used to leases the blow of the cricket loss..

LMAO Indians here in the US were crying. I can only wonder what the scenes must be in India. :)))

One of those moments when I am forced to write...

Look dear Indian bros... Those who have accepted the defeat is actually mature. Let's move on... It was a game and this time we nailed it. Next time we might not.

But... Other Indian bros... Do not. Do not bring rankings or consistency into this discussion. This is where I know you are burning and looking for an excuse. You know why you shouldn't discuss rankings and consistency? Let me answer.

Relevance of rankings is only till a team qualifies for a tournament like this or not. Had we not qualified, you would have had the right to whoop some *** and tease us. But hello... Eight teams qualified and now they are battling it out in a mini world cup - get over rankings already!!!

It's not hogwarts house selection that the tournament cup will check the rankings before awarding itself to a team...

Consistency?? Dude. We won the cup. The team that wins a world tournament is the team of the moment. Period. You could be king of rankings but if we totally owned the top 3 teams... They need to humble up and say well played. That's it. That needs some balls but that's the way to go.

No body cares if South Africa has been the best team for ever... They didn't produce tangible results. If we can do it from the 8th ranking.. Boy... Be scared of what we'll do when we get to number one.

Congratulations team Pakistan, splendid victory and a complete dominance throughout the tournament. They simply were the team of the tournament and deserved to win the final.

No excuses at all. Pakistan were the better teambith in terms of ability and more importantly strategy as well. Kohli and the management were dumb to field first while paying 2 finger spinners. Anyway I'm glad we lost otherwise our weaknesses would have been glossed over. Time for some fresh blood.

Looks like there has been a sudden mass conversion of fans from across the border who now suddenly believe in the significance of wins in big ICC Events ... RIP the overall W/L ratio :))

I have gotten over this loss for the most part. What worries me more is that so many people who were behaving nicely on here a few days back suddenly started posting tripe and became extremely arrogant. Enjoy the win, but you have to calm down with the gloating.

the pitch was USED!! the Pakistani batsmen tampered the pitch for Aamer bowling!!! Oh no!!!

:lol

Personally am not denying the victory,Pak was defn the better team and played well in all areas.
But as a fan and personally speaking the loss has hurt me,think its more so because it was in ICC champ trophy final against PCT and also coz Pak was ranked #7.

Also hated that we were so far from chasing it,ICT's body language on field, reminds me of 90's and I'm mentally in denial of how this happened, what could had been done ,had this happened would we had won and all such mental scenarios still are running in my mind, inspite of knowing that one cannot change the past.

So yeah guess denial about ICT team's performance is there atleast for me mentally but in another week or so when some other even happens we will forget it and hope that ICT as well infuse new blood into our team and prepare well for 2019 WC.

To OP the comments you're reading are probably from other sites.

Most Indians here have been very gracious in defeat, few were even happy for us.

No need for this. Pretty much everyone acknowledges be it Indian or neutral that we outplayed them in every department.

If they wanted they could bring up the fact that they have murked us time and time again in ICC events post 2009, but they don't.

Coming from a Pakistani myself, this is honestly one of the lamest threads ever.

What do you expect the Indian posters to say? Yes, they lost. I see most of them accepting that fair and square, just like Kohli. Pakistan was the better team on that day. In the tournament, they were the most improved side, but not the best. We still have issues with our batting. Just two crushing games (semi finals and finals) do not erase the problems we have.

Anyone saying Pakistan is the best team, I'm sorry. India is miles ahead in terms of stability and consistency. It feels like Pakistan has a settled side because everyone's fired in the last two games. It's just going to take one more game where Azhar/Hafeez/Malik fail and you'd be calling for their heads. And then what? Who do you replace them with?

Honestly, if you are expecting Indians to stop defending themselves after this loss, get over yourself. They are by far a better team than us. One game isn't going to change that.

Having said that, I really do hope this tournament gives Pakistan the belief that they are on the right track. Keep playing like this, with this intensity, wit this self belief, and we should be quite ready for the World Cup in 2019.

Learn from Sarfraz and be modest about win. Pakistan can be back with Sarfraz and team like 90s but still a lot of work needs to be done.

Well said bro. Everyone loves an underdog.

The way Pak played was true definition of Cornered Tigers™

I love the many comments I'm reading from Indian fans and it goes like this:

India only lost because Kohli decided to bowl first.

These people don't realize we won our previous 3 matches - all while chasing.

Who is to say if we bowled first we wouldn't have dismissed India for under 200 and chased it down? Just like we dismissed South Africa, Sri Lanka and England cheaply.

Of course there have been denials, but I've read reams of heartfelt congratulations from Indian fans. The English and the Aussies are rarely so gracious. Just look at the English response after their pasting. By comparison, this thread is cheap and mean spirited. We are still not used to winning, it is very clear.
