On the eve of the series - here is a quick breakdown of India's tours to Australia historically.
1940's -

1950's-
No series played.
1960's -
Played 4 Won 0 Lost 4 Draw 0.
1970's-
Played 5 Won 2 Lost 3 Draw 0.
1980's-
Played 6 Won 1 Lost 1 Draw 4.
1990's -
Played 7 Won 0 Lost 6 Draw 12
2000's
Played 9 Won 2 Lost 4 Draw 3.
2010's -
Played 12 Won 2 Lost 7 Draw 3
Overall India won 7 test matches lost 29 and drew 12.
My favorite win of the Indian team was from 2003 when India won the 2nd Test match in Adelaide after conceding 556 runs in the first innings with Ricky Ponting scoring 242.
But India fought back with a gigantic partnership from Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman and Agarkar showed his magic in the second innings. It was a great win.
