India maintain their supremacy in ICC Test Rankings

Lot of hard work for Sarfraz if we are to get close to India...

Can't wait for the equally challenging return series against our arch rivals SL :108: ,I hope the SA series is further curtailed to accomodate more challenging India-SL cricket.. that's how the No.1 teams roll folks.

Unlike last leg of away tours, there is a lot of potential this time. No dead weight in the team, all young but experienced players who will be looking to turn things around this time.

I think the fact that few test specialists like Ishant, Ashwin and Pujara are heading to county shows that the away leg is on the team's mind.

Cant complain - rankings are given nice boosts

Play them on seaming tracks, would be a good prep for SA. As for your illicit sarcasm, I'm sure people would love to face this SL side in SL, Warner says hi ;-)

Absolutely.

India gained a whopping 2 points to win the series 3-0 completely annihilating SL while running the risk of losing the no.1 spot even if they drew or lost the series

But why let the facts get in the way. :)

Looking at the difference in points between the two, anything less than a whitewash means that the higher ranked team loses points. So a number one team is required to keep whitewashing lower ranked teams, just to retain one's points. So the next time the two sides meet, even a whitewash against Sri Lanka may not fetch India any points.

Also the core of the side already has a lot of away tours under their belt

Yes. Which is ridculous. Away wins should have more points

Pakistan I think didnt win any points over the 2-2 series draw IN England

India are the best test side in the world for me. I don't think many of the current teams would have beaten Lankans 3-0 in Lanka as weak as Sri Lanka are.

Test for India now is to compete and win some games outside of Asia. Looking forward to there series versus Poms and South Africa.

Hope you understand how ranking works. i bet everyone would want to play team which is higher in ranking if they understand how ranking works.

less pressure to play with teams higher in ranking, dont have to win a series to gain points. draw or losing by less margin (series defeat margin) would get you points whereas if you play lower ranked team, you must have to thrash them to gain points. cant afford to have drawn game.
