Zimbabwe to host India for T20I series in July

Zimbabwe Cricket has announced that they will welcome India for a three-match T20I series at the Harare Sports Club in July.

The series will start on July 23, with the second and third matches to be played on consecutive days - July 25 and 26.

India’s previous tour to Zimbabwe for the shortest format was a five-match series in July 2024 that the visitors won 4-1.

The two sides last met during the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Chennai, where Brian Bennett put up a valiant effort of an unbeaten 97 in a mammoth chase.

The Chevrons head into the series on the back of an impressive T20 World Cup campaign, where they topped a competitive group featuring Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman to reach the Super Eight stage unbeaten.

Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni believes the upcoming series presents a valuable opportunity for both the team and its supporters.

“Matches against India always generate enormous interest and this is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions on home soil,” he said.

“Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series gives us a strong platform to build momentum and continue growing as a competitive force in international cricket.”

As announced earlier by the BCCI, Zimbabwe are also set to tour India in January 2027 for a three-match ODI series, marking their first bilateral visit to India since 2002.

Makoni welcomed the prospect of returning to one of cricket’s premier destinations.

“It is a landmark moment for Zimbabwe to be touring India again for a bilateral ODI series after more than two decades,” he added.

“India is one of the premier destinations in world cricket and this tour represents both an honour and a valuable opportunity for our players.

“We are looking forward to competitive and high-quality cricket and we believe this engagement will further strengthen the relationship between the two cricketing nations while providing invaluable exposure for our team.”

I believe this is Zimbabwe's first bilateral series in India since 2002 (back when Andy Flower was playing).

It has been 24 years. :inti

You did not just mention bangladesh.

Stop being so hurt
points were all valid, or in your view only BD security concerns are valid- whose hurt? I am tickled mate with the hypocrisy....what was it said....with great powers come great responsibilities..maybe stop being so fragile

It's the best time for Suryavanshi to make his debut. I believe we should send our reserve team to the 3-match T20 series against Zimbabwe, Ireland, USA, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, etc. The Indian senior team can play according to the FTB .

By doing these associates / minnows boards can earn the huge revenues and our upcoming talents can show their worth at international level n
