Was scrolling through my Facebook homepage a few hours back and stumbled upon a poster/promo for the Pak vs Ind Champions Trophy match.

The poster had Kohli, Dhoni, and Yuvraj on the Indian side, and Sarfraz, Hasan, and Shadab on the Pakistani side. The usual perception is that Pakistan is the team carrying oldies and in the recent past we've seen new faces emerge on the Indian side while Pakistan was still being represented by Afridi, Misbah, Irfan etc.

The poster got me excited initially because it's been a while since we've fielded young and unknown players against India. I went ahead and calculated the average age for both teams assuming these starting XIs:

Pakistan
Shehzad, Azhar, Babar, Hafeez, Sarfraz, Malik, Akmal, Shadab, Amir, Hasan, Junaid

India
Sharma, Dhawan, Kohli, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Jadhav, Pandya, Ashwin, Jadeja, Bumrah, Yadav

Pak avg age: 27 years and 219 days

Ind avg age: 29 years and 340 days

I haven't done the math for previous Pak vs Ind matches, but I doubt we've fielder a younger team than Ind in our last 10 meetings.

Can :sarf:'s youngsters finally overcome the odds and upset India on the 4th of June?

Dhoni Yuvi are seriously Buddha eleven and need to retire ASAP.

Add 20 years to Pakistan's age as they probably hid their age. Also subtract 2 years from the average Indian age cause Indian players are so gracious and modest that they probably exaggerated their age.

India's older players are still bombastic match winners compared to Pakistan's youngsters. Pakistan are serious under dogs here.

Good but you did it wrong buddy. Imad Wasim is a guaranteed starter and I don't think we'll have Umar batting at 7. If Umar does play at all, I'd think he'd bat at #6 and Hafeez would then open instead of one of Shehzad/Azhar (probably the former). Imad would probably be there at #7 as a result.

Also, I can see Wahab playing ahead of Shadab, which also boosts our average age significantly.

And not to forget, the list of our tried and tested failures incluse most of the youngsters and not the aged guys except for hafeez

Seen Dhoni Run between the 22 yards lately .. ?

Not even one from the Pak team can match his Fitness. Plus no need to speak of his lightning glove work behind the stumps

I was trying to find a reason to generate some sort of optimism for the match. I guess this was a failed attempt :uakmal

i am a simple guy...often (when not biased) persuaded by bowling and batting averages and strike rates.
