Has the BCB/Bangladeshi nation shown more national pride, guts and decisiveness against the BCCI in comparison to Pakistan?

Pakistan for years accepted numerous insults from the BCCI and the IPL owners

- Pakistani players going unpicked in the IPL draft in 2009 or 2010
- Ban on Pakistani players in the IPL
- Ban on billateral cricket with Pakistan by the BCCI and Indian government
- Snatching away the ICC Champions Trophy Final from Pakistan in 2025
- No handshake controversy in the Asia Cup
- Anti Pakistan statements, taunts by Surya, Abishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Tillak Verma, Rinku Singh

Pakistan inspite of having the leverage of the importance of Indo-Pakistan contests for the ICC for revenue generation and being number 4 on the ICC revenue distribution kept on compromising, putting up with these insults from the BCCI, Indian government, Indian players, ex players by

- Agreeing to play in India for the ODI WC Semi final in 2011
- Agreeing to play in India for the billateral series in 2012-13
- Agreeing to tour India for the T-20 WC in 2016
- Agreeing to tour India for the ODI WC in 2023
- Pakistani commentators happily commentating in the IPL knowing full well Pakistani players were banned from the IPL
- Pakistani coaches, support staff happily coaching in the IPL knowing full well Pakistani players were banned from the IPL
- Pakistani current and ex players showering non stop praises to Kohli, Rohit, Bhumrah, Pandya, Indian Cricket team and IPL

In contrast the BCCI, IPL and Indian government humiliated one Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rehman by dropping him from the IPL after he was picked up by KKR and it took the BCB, Bangladeshi government no time to announce a complete suspension of IPL broadcast in Bangladesh and that Bangladesh will not play the T-20 WC in India. Mind you Bangladesh does not have the same kind of relevance and significance as Pakistan does to the ICC and BCCI and they probably have a lot more to lose and not enough cards to play with but still they took a forceful stand without thinking twice or worrying about the long term consequences.

Something for the PCB and the Pakistani nation to ponder upon and reflect

It remains to be seen to which extent Bcb will go

PCB tried best to normalise relations with bcci but they just don’t respect PCB

This is no longer about cricket. This is about security and safety of the players/fans.

In India, there is a genocide going on. Minorities are constantly getting lynched, harmed, and even killed. So, BCB's stance is fully justified.

I think Bangladesh should refuse to play cricket in India until India become free from sanghi terrorism/extremism. :inti

You cant compare both situations.

At the time of these tangles with India, Pakistan was going in without any information regarding how India would react. Their enough is enough point came when Naqvi took charge of the PCB and realised that India wouldn't change.

They took some tough stances in the end, and achieved some results. Sure it may have taken some time, but this was an arduous journey to navigate against someone with far bigger financial clout in cricket. Pakistan also had very little backing from other cricketing countries, was plagued with internal security battles that made it difficult to fight on every front. Our priority was restoring cricket to Pakistan too.

Bangladesh has 10+ years of Pakistan's experience to look at, and is able to go in armed with a precedent where ICC changed a tournament for India. It also has the support of the PCB so is not alone in this tangle with India. They are also not isolated in the same way PCB was as they can play cricket at home. Once international cricket had fully returned to Pakistan, they managed to fight from a firmer base.

Your analysis is too simplistic; you genuinely cannot compare both positions.

Agree. Good point.

I dont' know much about Naqvi's domestic policies and I do not have an opinion. But, I think he handled India in cricket very well. Naqvi gave India a taste of their own medicine. :inti

Bending over backwards is what PCB did all along until they couldn't. BD cut to the chase keeping honor intact, dealt with BCCI - "jootay kee noke purr". Good job BCB.

Bangladesh now have proper leaders, Pakistan part from IK always had criminals parading as politicians. Their aim is money, not self respect or the betterment of Pakistani cricket.

Today, if India was to call PCB and state we will allow Pak players in the IPL or to tour India, the PCB will turn up swiftly.

BD is irrelevant in cricket.

That's not the point. Point is Bangladeshi players should not have to play in front of the sanghi terrorists.

Bangladesh should play their games in SL. :inti

They shouldn't play in India until India become free from sanghi terrorism.

Brother, I can only partially agree w/ your post. What you’ve stated is understandable from the PCB’s perspective, as they had to exercise diplomacy in their interactions w/ an ever more intransigent BCCI, that just wasn’t ready to be reasonable.

The But I would have expected a lot more restraint from individuals in the Pakistan cricket fraternity, rather than the kowtowing we saw. The examples in italics below were particularly cringe for me to see, especially the idol worship of Indian players.

Aside from a sense of purpose, your health, and your loved ones, the only thing you have of priceless value is your self respect. I felt that the individuals below didn’t fully value their sense of national identity when doing these side gigs and singing the praises of Indians.

- Pakistani commentators happily commentating in the IPL knowing full well Pakistani players were banned from the IPL
- Pakistani coaches, support staff happily coaching in the IPL knowing full well Pakistani players were banned from the IPL

I dislike the idol worship too. It was totally cringe but is at the very least a sign that our players didn't fall into the same trap as the Indian side and were happy to treat the sport as sport and politics separately.

As for the commentators and coaches, yes it is was wrong, but it also displays the hypocrisy of the Indian side and their weird shifting stance on issue to issue.

Pakistan has generally accepted the hand of friendship, even the current hand shake and trophy drama was started by the Indians.

Perhaps the examples you give are instances where these people didn't value their national identity, but perhaps we can look at it more positively and use it as examples of how our patriotism, sense of nationality and politics isn't tied to a game of cricket as much as Indians.

No one is forcing BD players to play in front of Indians. Nobody misses these useless minnows in world cricket. :mv

Say what you want about this Pakistani leadership on a domestic level but your post is way off the mark at a international level.

Pakistan smashed Indian planes out of the sky, wrecked airbases and sent Indians into a complete meltdown and state of panic.

Defeat of India was acknowledged around the world, from white house to Beijing.

And the current regime is the one who have pushed back against Indians in cricket.

Because they have treated Imran badly doesn't mean that every interaction or every moment they make is bad.

India has been battered badly by them.

Ya atleast pakistan has a slight leverage of garnering increased viewership. India can go without playing BD forever. Isn't that what Australia does? Australia/England never invited BD to their country. THey rarely visit BD. May be they play T20s there with their Z string team. That's about it. Bangladesh also just needs Pakistan, Srilanka. Afhganistan, Zimbabwe. So it is a win win situation for both countries :)

This is about cricket not war . India forced Pakistan to play its home match in a different country. 90% of the crowd was Indian .

Even if IK didn’t exist corruption would be rife . The more money institutions make , the more gets pocketed. No Pakistani or even a Scot can deny this

BCB has taken a strong stance which has surprised me.

Let's see what happens next as that will determine the next chapter. If ICC refuse to change the venues & BD actually ends up going there, all of the bravado will look utterly stupid.

If they manage to get venue shifted to Sri Lanka or boycott the tournament or pause bilateral cricket, that will be something unheard of and may throw cricket in serious turmoil.

Personally speaking, I am tired of the animosity between the Asian countries. Pak is not on good terms with Afg & Ind & now BD & Ind are also having ugly political issues. It's such a bad look for the region as well as for the sport.

Whom are you fooling mate?

BCB had no security concerns just 2 days ago. ICC has published the fixture long time back but BD has no complains. It is only after IPL removed Mustafizur from participating, Bangladeshi ego got hurt and your govt asked BCB to not travel India.

It is a ego tussle and nothing to do with security.

BD should schedule 00 T20's and 20 Tests against Zimbos and Irish. They have no business playing big boys :cobra

You think no broadcast in Bangladesh matters to IPL?

So taking decisions without thinking about long term consequences is right?

These are shameless people they will come begging when they need something, that’s their history

1947 separate from Hindus to create east Pakistan, 1971 run and beg the same hindus to save themselves

Pcb and Pakistan have more self respect.

Lol.who cares its Bangladesh, they don't attract proper media coverage it's no loss and no one cares..

But Pakistan matches will attract interest all over the world and PCB would be making decent coin from the matches..

Bangladesh can show all the guts they want only issue is no one is there to see or care about their guts 😆

Agreed and I think you are bang on with the point of little to no backing from other boards. It was such a turmoil time for Pakistan with the 09 attack still fresh in memories and then another massive scandal in 10'. PCB was in turmoil and no choice but try to play along and be amicable as possible when they were likely facing financial struggles. No PSL at the time either.

Things have drastically improved since then with all the major countries consistently touring Pakistan. Security concerns have significantly subsided and at least aren't the only conversation when you utter the name Pakistan. They even got awarded with an ICC tournament in Pakistan which would have seemed unthinkable not too long ago. PSL is making Pakistan money. Now at least PCB has two legs to stand on and take a firm stance. I don't often give PCB credit but credit where its due, they took a firm stance and now its paved the way for another board to do the same.

I do think there needs to be a bigger & serious conversation at just how fragile international cricket seems at the moment.

Wasn't it ramiz raja? its only Naqvi who has saved us from further humiliation from india

You idiot Mohsin Naqvi is doing the exact same thing to India now, forcing them to play their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 matches in a different country. That’s pure ***-for-tat.

Meanwhile Ramiz Raja was busy chasing India around like a desperate fanboy “yes sir, anywhere you want sir, just please play cricket with us.”

I doubt if it’s the same situation.

PCB is a as dysfunctional as they come, but they had a lot more to lose. India Pakistan had many points of engagement and the one on o e matches were huge money spinners for everyone. Plus their response evolved over time.

BCB has little to lose. Their share of international revenues is through ICC. Few care for India BD matches so not a major financial incentive.

They’re just being reactive. That said, India’s decision to move expel one player hasn’t impacted them in the slightest.

Pakistanis are known for not having self respect or intelligence so it’s not surprising Bangladesh gave them a masterclass in what national pride is meant to be.

However Pakistanis are good at back channel diplomacy and also slight of hand as demonstrated by Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai @Major

Pakistanis have no self respect.

We as a country are watching and dancing on a song that was made part of an Anti pakistani movie. So that gives you an idea

It reminds of a comedy act by Chris Rock, joking about how women often madly dance to rap music in pubs the lyrics of which are often deeply insulting to women. When questioned about it they just say “he aint talkin about me” and continue dancing :yk

PCB and BCB are working together behind the scenes. They are going to form a strong bond and try to come at india together. There is no way Pakistan didn't nudge Bangladesh to take this step.

Pakistan played their home match in a different country where the crowd was 90% Indian. This is shameful for any nation. India doing it because Pakistan first embarrassed itself, they are no better.

India will also be playing its “home” match in Sri Lanka so yes, it’s *** for tat. But indian agents like you will conveniently downplay that because the deal was signed under Naqvi but would happily go after ramiz raja because was appointed by imran khan

You're slow. Both Pakistan and India are shameful, Bangladesh has more self respect. Its very simple to understand.

Yes, Pakistan’s position was embarrassing under India’s boot-licker Ramiz Raja, and you’re just as shameful as India for dragging politics into cricket whenever it suits you.

Credit where it’s due though under Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan forced India to play their World Cup “home” match in Sri Lanka. That’s how you respond with leverage, not begging like ramiz raja.

Credir to Bangladesh for not playing in india but they yet have to force india to play their home gane outside india just like naqvi did

According to reports ICC has rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift their T20 World Cup matches.

ICC has told the BCB to play in India or forfeit their points. (ESPN Cricinfo)

Let's see they have self respect or not. He fas gye Guru. .

:klopp :kp

Abb dikhao national pride, guts and decisiveness against the BCCI.
Next time they should told same thing to PCB. Anyways Pakistan are not hosting anymore ICC tournament so no problem for india

For champion trophy 2029 and World cup 2023 - either Pakistan came to India or forfeit the point. Simple

:kp

Things you say when you have nothing else to say, and there are no excuses left after your hypocritical bhangra,
When you have nothing to say why they are not coming to india. Need proper explanation because i can bust those excuse within a minutes.

Think both BCCI & BCB should discuss this issue in private & settle matters

No need to escalate matters from here onwards. BCCI should privatelu apologise for Mustafizur fiasco & ensure it does not happen again

An apology isn’t happening, not in this lifetime. First not needed, second when was the last time one read or heard about institutions apologising to individuals, even privately? Even a small institution such as a school.

This will go one way three ways, BD boycotts, BD plays in India and BD plays in SL.

Whatever happens all sides are going to claim a win, including non- combatant Pakistan…

BCCI could have been discreet. Told BCB that right now BD players in IPL could be a political issue. So withdraw the players for this IPL and wait for things to settle down after next month's elections

Very poor management

The whole point of this exercise is to show their fans how seriously they take these incidents and the country always comes first. There is a reason there was a hue and cry first, then BCCI proceeded to remove Mustafizur from the IPL team.

What you are proposing will not achieve that.

Agree with the OP.

In fact, Bangladesh cricket doing this is less emblematic of them having a spine than Bangladesh cricket existing in the first place (as opposed to them still being part of Pakistan cricket in another universe).
