With another ICC tournament starting in a few days , lets take a look at how both India and Pakistan have fared in tournaments that feature teams from all countries.


The tournaments in order of their significance are listed below:

World Cup : India 2 ( 1983, 2011 ) , Pakistan 1 ( 1992 )

T20 World Cup : India 1 ( 2007 ) , Pakistan 1 ( 2009 )

Champions Trophy : India 2 ( 2002, 2013 ), Pakistan 0

Overall its India with 5 ICC Tournaments and Pakistan with 2 ICC Tournaments.

Must say that when it comes to Global events , India has a very impressive record compared to Pakistan.

When it comes to WT20s, the semifinal in 2010 was another ocassion where we bolted under pressure. It's fair to say that India have exhibited far greater mental strength in tournaments.

India does raise it's game in global events and less choking.

India never really won the 2002 event. However, yes, they've been better in the ODI tournaments. Won several more Asia cups than Pakistan as well, which is all down to being the superior ODI team since the mid/late- 2000s.

^ It is actually post-2010 where Pakistan have fallen behind. India have managed to win a World Cup and a Champions Trophy in this decade whereas Pakistan have won nothing, albeit performed very well in the 2011 World Cup and have been hurt by not having any tournaments take place on home soil. Before that, they were on equal terms with India, with one World Cup win each in each format.

Its all due to mental weakness, we just simply suck under slightest pressure. India are ten times better than Pak in this regard, i think skill wise even now we are not far behind.

Add B&H World Championship that we won in 1985.

That was a bigger cup sadly doesn't get a mention inspite of beating Pakistan in the final! The only thing people remember then is Audi of Shastri.
Guess we didn't have media power then.

Not for India but for those who got the phainta ... the free supply of Hajmola from sponsors must have helped

Thats true ... but it was a major hit .... by then good chunks of India had TV coverage and it perhaps triggered the next wave of cricketers.
