When India lost to Pakistan in world t20, the fans targeted Mohammad Shami. Just because he was Muslim, Indian fans targeted him claiming he has allegiance towards Pakistan.

Today, when Arshdeep dropped a catch of Asif Ali, Indian fans have started to bash Arshdeep on the lines that he is a pro Khalistan. Khalistan has been bought in for no reason.

Interestingly, the 19th over was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Yet, each and every time, in Secular India, the minorities are targeted.

He didnt really smile. His face is like that. Even when he was discussing with rohit sharma during the4th delivery, it looked like he was smiling, but it was just his face that gave that look.

Scott Styris in commentary was fuming when the catch was dropped and Arshdeep gave a smile that was so funny (to Pakistan fans at least).

Styris is a closet Indian fan!

1) Indian cricket player Arshdeep dropped a catch in the 2nd match of India Vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2022.

And, now accounts from Pakistan are running Khalistan propaganda & calling Arshdeep a Khalistani.

Here is the thread!

MenInG can i pist the screenshot which i posted earlier in op in response to this post?

That screenshot showed all indian accounts on twitter that referred arshdeep as khalistani

He should not be targeted for his religion but must be criticized for dropping that catch. That was a schoolboy error which costed us the game. The smile that followed made it even worst.

Anyway, I so hope there is no more Ind-Pak game coming Sunday. I am completely drenched after 2 consecutive Sunday's and another game is not good for my health. Absolutely heartbroken since yesterday after what Arshdeep has done. My friends and I were watching the game in a casino and there were a complete pin dead silence with eyes popping out after that drop catch. No one was able to understand what just happened. There were English fans who were watching Man Utd vs Arsenal in adjoining screens also took interest with what just happened the way we reacted.

Anyway, Pakistan-SL final is what I am rooting for as can't take one more Sunday.

Let us get our breath back and meet again on 23rd Oct

These sanghis have tuned a gentleman's sport into a really toxic culture.

We saw even abroad in Leicester the behaviour of their fans chanting death to pakistan and attacking pakistanis.

Afghans are another bunch of nutters hopefully the uae ups the security at the gates and riot police for the Afghan vs pakistan clash because these Afghans are a danger to everyone.

Poor post. Dont genralize and dont drag afghanis into this. Few may act as lunatics, all are not same

Usually Bollywood makes movies based on past “events”

But somehow they made “Chak De” before even these events took place. Kabir Khan being called desh drohi for losing the match against Pak

Mohammed Shami (for being a Muslim)
Arshdeep Singh (for being a Sikh)

Sad that these people are representing us Indians. But let me tell u not all Indians are like this. I’ve met and made some really and I mean REALLY good friends who are Hindu

It’s a hugely populated country there are bound be some bad elements. Not a big deal

It’s a hugely populated country there are bound be some bad elements. Not a big deal

So a person of minority being attaced with racial slurs or being called a traitor just because he belonga from a minority group is no big deal?

It’s a bit rich coming from you being the OP who needed to highlight the hate Arshdeep is receiving because of some bad people

I’m just saying you have no right to criticise another person who highlights the hatred the fans of some countries receive from some bad people of Afghanistan.

The same argument applies here too. These are some bad people of India targeting an Indian minority player.

Most of the accounts were from pakistan. Similar things happened during Shami incident.

Already the officials of Wikipedia have been summoned by ministeries to explain how Arshdeep's Wikipedia got changed.

The twitter officials may next.

Indian govt has summoned Wikipedia that allows edits to take place? :)))

I don't how many of them were labelling him as khalistani ( i m sure there would be a lot) but many people were blaming him for losing the match

. In many interviews with Indian fans by various Indian channels all of them were blaming arshdeep for dropping the catch and losing the match.

In defence of Arshdeep, he became too casual and the backspin on the ball was his undoing. These catches are not as simple as the look against spinners

Very simplistic to say it cost the match. It was a bad drop, but match was leaning towards Pakistan regardless.

But obviously some pathetic fans need someone to blame. And racist fans will always blame a minority.

Very simplistic to say it cost the match. It was a bad drop, but match was leaning towards Pakistan regardless.

Well, the wrong guy was dropped.

Iftikhar would have done more than what Khushdil was threatening, but Asif Ali being dropped is costly

It was BK who lost the match not Arshdeep.

Also want to add that it’s not all Indian guys. Let’s not blame all here. Especially South Indians are really open I am friends with so many and are often so helpful

Young left-arm paceman Arshdeep Singh had a moment to forget in the crucial Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Pakistan, as he dropped an easy catch in the 18th over. The dropped catch gave Asif Ali, batting at 0 at that time, a reprieve and he went on to his two boundaries and a six in the remaining two overs to help Pakistan overhaul India's total of 181 runs.

Arshdeep though made valiant comeback as he bowled a splendid final over and kept India in the hunt till the penultimate ball. But the youngster has since been trolled mercilessly by fans for that dropped catch.

Several former Indian cricketers have come out in support of Arshdeep, like Harbhajan Singh and Aakash Chopra, since then. Even Virat Kohli defended the youngster in the post match press conference.

Now, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has come out in support of the youngster and asked fans to not "humiliate" the youngster as anyone could make mistakes.

"My request to all Indian team fans. In sports we make mistakes as we r human. Please don't humiliate anyone on these mistakes arshdeepsinghh," Hafeez tweeted.

India now have to win both their remaining Super 4 matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Asia Cup final alive.

Punjab Sports minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has encouraged Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh after the 24-year-old dropped a catch against Pakistan in the India Pakistan super four match in Asia Cup, which India lost, in Dubai on Sunday. Talking to Singh’s mother Baljeet Kaur over phone, Hayer told Kaur that Punjab as well whole of India is proud of Singh and youth like Singh are an inspiration for the youth in the country.

“You all should be in high spirits. Whole of Punjab as well India stands with Arshdeep today. People, who have not played cricket ever, are making such comments. Arshdeep carried the hopes of 140 crore Indians and it’s a big thing for a 24-year-old youngster. The captain showed faith over Arshdeep for bowling the last over and that speaks of Arshdeep’s talent,” Hayer told Baljeet Kaur, mother of Arshdeep Singh on Monday morning.

The Punjab youngster had dropped the catch of Pakistan batsman Asif Ali in the 18th over of the Pakistan Innings with Pakistan requiring 31 runs off 16 balls. With Pakistan needing seven runs in the last over, Singh bowled the last over and removed Asif Ali off the fourth ball of the over with Pakistan requiring two runs off two balls. Iftikhar Khan scored two runs off the penultimate ball to hand Pakistan the win. “A lot of people fail to see the hard work done by the players to play for India. Arshdeep bowled the last over superbly. When Arshdeep will come after winning the Asia Cup, I will accompany you to welcome him at the airport. Please tell Arshdeep to concentrate on the rest of the matches and he is an inspiration for the youth. We have seen players like Sachin Tendulkar too not scoring runs in some matches and things like these happen in sports,” Hayer said.

Arshdeep’s mother Baljeet Kaur , who along with her Husband Darshan Singh, is in UAE to watch the Asia Cup matches, told Hayer that the whole Indian team is with Arshdeep Singh. “When we sat with him after the match, Arshdeep told us not to worry and he will give his best as always. The whole Indian team has supported him and he will answer the critics with his performance,” Kaur told Hayer.

Exposed! Pakistani Twitter accounts fuelling hate against Indian bowler Arshdeep Singh

Young pace bowler Arshdeep Singh was at the receiving end of hate-mongering after he dropped a crucial catch in the 18th over of the Super 4 clash against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022. Especially on social media, the left-arm pacer was brutally trolled and even branded a 'Khalistani' by some on Twitter. But there is more to the hate than meets the eye.

Many of these trolls seemed to be following a ******* of sorts to target Arshdeep. More so, many of these accounts were from Pakistan. The propaganda machinery has been working overtime. The widely shared message read: 'Indian TV anchor from ABP News calling Arshdeep Singh a Khalistani after India loses to Pakistan today. You can't even imagine the amount of poison these hate-mongers carry in their hearts for their own Sikh people.' The same tweet has been shared with many accounts. These have been shared by many accounts like Federal Public Service Commission (@FPSC_Islamabad) and M Hasan Sial (@IMHassansial)

While many Indians were able to see through the smokescreen and call out the Pakistani handles, some, unfortunately, fell for the hate campaign.

What happened on September 4 night?

Team India had set a daunting target of 182 runs. Pakistan won off the penultimate ball of the innings. On the third ball of the 18th over bowled by Ravi Bishnoi, Asif Ali edged the ball in the short third man direction. Arshdeep, who was fielding in the position, dropped a simple catch.

The dropped catch swung the momentum in Pakistan's favour. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 19 runs in the 19th over. Arshdeep was given the last over of the match, with Pakistan needing seven of the last six legal deliveries. He took Asif's wicket but could not stop Pakistan from winning the match. Arshdeep ended up with figures of 27 runs off 3.5 overs and a tonne of hate online.

Shami received similar hate

To recall, a similar backlash had come pacer Mohammad Shami's way when India lost their first-ever ICC World Cup match against Pakistan in October 2021. Even then, much of the hate propaganda seemed to originate from Pakistani Twitter handles. Using fictitious names, many of these accounts abused the pace bowler -- termed him a traitor -- and sought to encourage others to share the same.

Pakistan link in tampering of cricketer Arshdeep Singh's Wikipedia page The IP address that was used

The IP address that was used to edit Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page was the same IP address that edited out references to Pakistani military and Parvez Musharaf. According to sources, Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) is behind the conspiracy. The ISPR is the media and public relations wing of Pakistan's armed forces.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology summoned Wikipedia executives in India to seek an explanation on how Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh’s Wikipedia page entry was changed to reflect the Khalistan association.

The Wikipedia entry was changed after India's five-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Asia Cup on Sunday

Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh, who had dropped a catch in the match, was criticised after India's defeat.

Following this, the Wikipedia page entries read that Singh had been selected to play for the "Khalistani national cricket team". The page was subsequently restored.

Indian govt summoning wikipedia :))) :))) these people are ridiculous....

We are talking about twitter and this guy is talking about wiki edits

It's a simple sports mistake with varied reactions, some reactions being disgusting.

But see the lengths Indian propaganda accounts are taking to make up a phantom reason to blame Pakistan yet again.

Yet Indian public find it hard to believe Indian media would pull wool over their eyes for major claims like "surgical strikes".

Given the political climate in India last 8 years it is laughable that some of our resident Indian posters still cling on that Pakistan has to try to devise some online bots scheme to create the vitriol against Shami last year.

So you are saying no indian is calling arshdeep a khalidtani?

Why are pakistanis calling him khalistani?

Why do pakistanis pretend to be Indian online to spread propoganda? How many times this has been exposed?

It’s one thing to abuse players and their families by these Indian trolls. But it takes another level of hatred to justify it, and u can see people doing it on this thread. Not just justifying it but blaming it on other country. When we all know it’s out India that is filled with hatred mostly

Glad I am from south India where people have common sense

Ridiculous? Why? Just because some other countries and their government were ignored by social media companies doesn't mean India would be. Difference in stature and status internationally.

Twitter users were also exposed.

I am Indian and I’d agree with u. But let me tell u people in South India, I doubt they even posted one such thing. We South Indians are educated and hence are mature and settled. Also most Foreign companies want to invest in south India coz they know we’re mature and educated.

Sad truth. But please don’t think all Indians are like that. We South Indians are educated and are mature. These trolls are also mostly incels and they’re the ones who ask for “Bobs and Vagene” pics from girls on social media. A disgrace to us South Indians

They’re mostly jobless bro. They usually do two things on social media. Ask for pics from girls or spread hatred. They have no happiness, no jobs, no peace, no girl nothing in their life, and social media is free. Hence they take their frustration out there. But South Indians are exact opposite of it.

If u look at top 5 richest cities in India

Chennai (South India)
Bengaluru (South India)
Mumbai (South India & Bollywood)
Kolkatta (Educated and zero hatred)
Delhi (Capital)

This clearly shows the cities who are doing good are the ones who have jobs and less time for hatred. When the people don’t have jobs and are frustrated they take it out on social media

Werent indians calling him a khalistani on twitter?

All countries have idiotic fans but there seems to be many more Inds and that just isn't in absolute numbers but higher proportionally . They are full of hate. The lad was too casual, and paid the price and some idiots will always label him as a traitor

Im glad that the 19th over was bowled by bhuvi, had it been bowled by arshdeep, they would had even said more bad things about him.

Funny how bhuvi isnt targetted by them, its always the minority players. Criticism is fine, but to throw racial slurs and questioning their allegiance.

As one poster said, we saw this in shahrukhs khans movie chak de, so its not like this thing isnt known..

I feel bad whenever pakistan defeats india as our win leads to indians targetting their minority population

atleast Pakistani fans abuse the players without any discrimination ... we dont see who the player is, where he is from... its blanket abuse lloll

What is being edited is visible in history of Wikipedia. So the IP and the edits of the Pakistani person visible, before Wikipedia removed it.

Are we just supposed to take their word for it that the “IPs” are Pakistani?
Lol

Does Wikipedia have “executives” in India? Or will they be forced to fly in from outside?
I hope they have a good enough reason and can explain this massive error or else india make nuke them all. Lol!!!

We dont discriminate. That oh flana is pathan or that flana is sindhi. Even when danish kaneria makes stupid remarks pakistanis dont resort to stupid arguments.

Its india that starts questioning your allegiance.

And than we have posters here who say india pakistan is just an ordinary game and isnt consodered to be that special.

Yeh, when india losses to australia, thats when the minority players are targetted as being goras right..

I find it hilarious that indian govt is summoning wikipedia that why you allow edits

Like bhai, wikipedia works on contribution from users, no person has that much knowledge to write all the articles on wikipedia.

Its as if indian govt came to know about wiki edit feature just yesterday

Wikipedia better get this mess in order or else they won’t be allowed to play in the IPL.

India has summoned executives of Wikipedia after a national cricketer's page on the online encyclopedia was edited following a match with rival Pakistan to claim that he was linked to a Sikh separatist movement, a government source said on Monday.

Indian cricketer Arshdeep Singh has incurred the wrath of Indian social media users since Sunday when he dropped a simple catch in the closing stages of a tense India-Pakistan match.

Singh's Wikipedia page on Sunday said the Sikh cricketer, born in northern Indian state of Punjab, had been selected to play for Khalistan, referring to Sikh freedom movement.

The Wikipedia page has since been rectified.

A senior government source said the federal information technology (IT) ministry has summoned Wikipedia executives over the incident, without elaborating.

India's IT ministry and Wikipedia did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

India's Economic Times newspaper reported earlier on Monday a government panel will question Wikipedia on how the online encyclopedia is edited and how modifications such as those made to Singh's page could be allowed.

"The edits have been traced back to servers in the neighbouring countries and can cause serious damage to the internal peace and national safety of India," the newspaper quoted a government official as saying.

Wikipedia's articles, written primarily by unpaid volunteers, are relied on by platforms from Google to Amazon Alexa to give their users information and context.

Emotions run high whenever India play Pakistan in what is cricket's most passionate rivalry between the bitter neighbours.

India prevailed in the first group match between the arch-rivals on Aug. 28 but Pakistan swiftly exacted revenge clinching Sunday's thriller at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

IITs are topmost Colleges of India, and when graduates of these internationally reputed Institutions are working/doing this, then there is no expectation from ordinary Indian.

It’s still a lot less widespread there. The worrying fact is it’s the young South Indians who are falling in the RW trap. Most of South Indians from the previous generation are some of the friendliest Indians I have met.

Very well!

If Arshdeep does get Pakistani citizenship, and manages to play for Pakistan in say 3-4 years, will the Wikipedia executives escape jail time
In India?

Asking for a friend!

Sad to see parents being brought into this story as well. But nice of them to step in and support their child. Not easy against rabid cricket fans.

Why was his wiki page vandalised from a Pakistani location at the same time pakistani handles were spreading the khalistani propoganda on Arshdeep on twitter? Coincidence?

Could be a bit both. I would not say that India does not have a problem with this after the Shami incident. At the same time maybe, some Pakistanis milked the situation as well.

Will need to dig some more.

He should be offered asylum in Pakistan and fast tracked into our national team. The kid has plenty of talent and would serve us well.

not surprised, anyone who has had any exposure to Indian social media knows it is a vile online environment. if there was a button to mute all India-origin tweets/posts, etc I think most people would hit it.

pakistan deflection aside, the bakhts know deep down theirs a huge proportion of their ranks who act and think like this regardless of the image they would like to project.

Blaming the whole game on 1 catch is a coping mechanism. 10-11 RPO is par in T20 clash few overs these days when wickets in hand.
There was no guarantee that India was going to win the match even if Arshdeep caught it. Pak had 3 batsmen still there who can hit the big shots and win Pak the game including Ifti, Shadab and Khusdil.
secondly, don’t forget India got the extra 8 runs due to drop catch from Fakhar, so all Arshdeep did was made it even.

I feel for the young lad and this could affect his career going forward.

The problem is it was such an easy catch that I couldn't actually believe that he dropped it and it was of course against Pakistan.

However no excuse for the abuse from the social media warriors.

It was BK who lost the match not Arshdeep.

Tbh I don’t think any of them actually did. Pakistan should have eased to the total and made it a bit hard for themselves by not properly cashing in on Bishnoi’s over. Asif Ali missed two easy leg side long hops which he should have sent for 6 instead of missing them for wides. Bishnoi got away for 10 runs less in his last over

Bhuvi doesn’t have enough pace to trouble sloggers like Asif and Khushdil on a road like yesterday. He was probably going to concede 10-12 runs anyways in that over

Most of the accounts were from pakistan. Similar things happened during Shami incident.

Already the officials of Wikipedia have been summoned by ministeries to explain how Arshdeep's Wikipedia got changed.

The twitter officials may next.

You're so delusional its not even funny.

The Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits, Liberal Hindus and Christians of India should all band together against the radical BJP Hindus who are a cancer.
