KARACHI: Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria on Saturday said there was a lot of positivity among the people of India and Pakistan.

The governments also have positive intentions to normalize the relations.

“There is need for taking at least small positive steps to create environment for major decisions on different counts,” he said during an interaction with members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Moving towards this direction, India has taken a "baby" step by softening its visa policy for Pakistan's senior citizen and the children under age of 12 years, and issuing visas on humanitarian ground in some particular cases.

To a question, he said normally it took 30 to 35 days to process an application by a Pakistani for an Indian visa. However, the Indian mission here tried its best to make the process easier.

On pointation that even Pakistani businessmen were issued India visas at the eleventh hour to attend or participate any trade event, Indian High Commissioner assured that in future they would get visa in time.

Indian envoy said he firmly believed that the neighboring countries must have good relations with each other. "We would encourage every positive effort towards peace," he re-affirmed.

He said despite many issues/ hindrances, the bilateral trade last year figured dollars 2.2 billion. The fact is that, the trade potential on both the sides was more than 30 billion dollars per year.

He suggested that business communities and the general public on the both sides should come up and form pressure groups/lobbies to push their government to work for closer relations in the two countries.

He was optimistic that both the governments had adopted positive approach and had agreed that both the countries should respect each other. He said both the countries had also decided to exchange the prisoners.

He appreciated Pakistan Navy’s good gesture to save India fishermen from drowning in the sea.

India diplomat said there should also be series of cricket matches between the two neighbouring counties to normalize the environment and bring the peoples closer.

He said Karachi was a safer place even for foreigners.

When his comments were sought on Indian stance on China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he simply said his country's position was very clear on CPEC for certain reasons. However, he added, it was good to establish connectivity in the region.

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muffasar Atta Malik, Chairman, Businessmen Group in KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, Senior Vice President Abdul Basit Haji Abdul Razzaq were also present.

According to Indian residents of PP, India does not want Bilateral series.

He is already in Pakistan, so, where will be he told to go by RSS supporters of BJP?

Seems as if it is India that wants Cricketing ties to continue more then Pak does.

To be honest, I think India is indifferent to this cause overall - neither positive nor negative toward resumption of bilateral ties.

But as track record tells you, things can change overnight and same time next year, we'd be eagerly discussing a 3-match ODI series that has just taken place, planned at the eleventh hour.

Did Indian HC conducted a poll and asked the general population? NO.

He is only saying his opinion for obvious reason to ease the tension.

Have you conducted a poll?

I said “according to Indian residents of PP”

I don't really see how those baby steps are anyway connected to reviving bilateral cricket games.

I always said Me and Indians I interact with shows no sign of interest if the games take place or not. They all netural. And many people on here says the same, so yea we actually speak for ourselves unlike Indian HC who is spouting lies just for good PR.

They are not. The purpose of this press conference is to ease up some tense situation between two nations. Tbh i honestly dont see any significant changes to the policies.

Seems to be a contradictory stance. If you speak for yourself, why are you telling us the Indian High Commissioner press conference is to ease some tensions between two nations?

Then what else could that presser for if not to ease up tension? Im only reading the situation

You speak for yourself. Indian HC was given the job to represent India in Pakistan.

Your view is limited to what you think and believe, his represent what Indian government think and believe what Indian think.

Ultimately his views are still his opinion and does not have any facts to support that claim.

Neither does your claim that his claim does not resemble the views of many Indians unless, as you have asked, for there’s a poll that negate his comments.

So if he says tomorrow that People of Kashmir are happy to be part of India, will you buy that?

So, do you have a source where any poll was conducted to get the views of general Indians?

Until such poll is done, you just have to take what people on here have to say.

If they are so indifferent why was their a spate of suicides after champions trophy defeat.

Because there are a billion people here and dozens of news channels figuratively baying for blood (pun intended) to slot in a story at prime time..
