Multiple Indians have been arrested in a drug bust: :inti

PEEL REGION – Peel Regional Police, working with national and international partners, have dismantled a transnational organized criminal network trafficking illicit drugs into the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The investigation, Project Pelican, marks the largest drug seizure in the service’s history – with nearly $50 million worth of cocaine seized.

In June 2024, Peel Regional Police began investigating a cocaine smuggling operation using U.S.-Canada commercial trucking routes. By November, working with partners including the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Task Force in Detroit, multiple individuals, trucking companies, and storage sites linked to the operation were identified.

Between February and May 2025, information from Peel Regional Police lead to:
CBSA intercepting a commercial truck at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, which led to the seizure of 127 kilograms of cocaine concealed in the trailer and the arrest of the driver
CBSA intercepting another truck at the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward, which led to the seizure of 50 kilograms of cocaine hidden within the trailer and the arrest of the driver, with support from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
Additional seizures were also made across the GTA in connection with commercial trucking by Peel Regional Police, some of which included individuals in possession of loaded firearms at the time of arrest.
Over the course of the investigation, the following was seized:

Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police, as part of a Joint Force Operation with local and provincial law enforcement partners, have recovered more than $4.2 million in assets following the dismantling of an organized criminal network linked to the towing industry.

In July 2024, Project Outsource was launched to investigate a criminal organization believed to be behind a significant number of extortion incidents and related acts of violence. As the investigation progressed, it became clear that the criminal network operated with two distinct, but interconnected components: one dedicated to extortion and violence, and the other rooted in the towing industry.

Several suspects were found to be associated with towing companies operating under the names Certified Roadside and Humble Roadside. Investigators uncovered evidence that these individuals were engaged in insurance fraud by staging vehicle collisions, and using threats, assaults, and firearms to exert control over local towing operations.

As of June 10, 2025, Haleh Javady Torabi, a 37-year-old woman from King City, and the following 17 men from Brampton have been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation:

Inderjit Dhami, 38

Four personal vehicles, with a total value of $840K
Five stolen vehicles recovered, with a total value $571K
Six firearms
586 rounds of ammunition
Two bulletproof vests
Various weapons, including cross bow, taser, baseball bats

Project Outsource was a Joint Forces Operation with Peel Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Halton Regional Police, York Regional Police, and Toronto Police Service. The successful completion of this investigation was made possible through funding from the Government of Ontario, Ministry of the Solicitor General, in which the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario supported this Joint Forces investigation.

In recent years, Peel Region has experienced a sharp rise in violent extortion attempts targeting South Asian business owners, including demands for large sums of money, threats for non-payment, and acts of violence, including drive-by shootings. In response to these incidents, Peel Regional Police established the Extortion Investigation Task Force in December 2023.

There needs to be an inquiry why so many Indians are responsible for criminal behaviour in Canada.

Agree. Those who commit crimes should be deported. Canada used to have a very low crime rate.

Many Indians in Canada are doing all sorts of unethical and criminal things --> gang violence, auto thefts, unethical business practices, visa fraud, fake academic institutions, other frauds.

How would you know that unless someone actually collected data?

Crime data is obviously recorded in various police databases.

Send an email to the Canadian Bureau of Statistics and ask them to release the data.

What a post.

Kick out illegal Indians with no jobs and surviving on crime. When you mass immigrate thousands and millions into a country that cannot support everyone these things are bound to happen. Crime will spike. As much as the blame goes on these illegal Indians, an equal blame should go on Trudeau government. I am sure all of these guys filed asylum as they fear for their life by the oppressive BJP Government.

Canada is going down anyways.

They are all oppressed by Modi Government and feared for their lives. Canada gave them asylum or at least these guys are waiting for their case to be heard by the court. Canada deserves this.

Here in Canada, many of the auto thefts and drug-related crimes are being done by Indians. Just go through this whole thread. :inti

Here are some examples:

Why even immigrate if you're going to cause problems 🤦🏻🤦🏻

Canada is now an Indian colony so its also natural most of the stories in Canada will now have people with links to Bharat.

Why even immigrate if you're going to cause problems 🤦🏻🤦🏻

I live in Toronto since 2005 and this city was pretty golden till about 2019. After 2019, crimes started to increase. We are now seeing incidents like frequent car thefts, break-ins, shootings, and various other fraudulent activities.

A lot of these crimes are being committed by the Indians. Go through the thread to see examples.

Indian immigrants used to have a good reputation in Canada (10-15 years ago) but not anymore. People are frustrated with their rudeness and unethical practices. Some of them are even committing major crimes.

My cousins also live in Toronto. My dad's brother and his children immigrated to Canada. They share the exact sentiment as you do. So I get what you mean.

I see.

A family friend of ours had a break-in. Valuables were stolen.

My brother's car was smashed by a car thief. It cost my brother $10,000 (insurance didn't cover everything).

Another family friend had their car stolen.

Canada needs to strengthen the immigration system and justice system. Things are way too loose currently. Criminals aren't punished hard enough in my opinion.

In Lahore I dont face any issues either.

ONTARIO - According to court documents, on December 9, 2023, the victim was alone in her basement apartment when Mr. Singh, then working as a Bell Canada technician, responded to a service call to come to her new residence to install an installation cable for her wifi router.

After using the victim’s bathroom, Mr. Singh came out with his pants unzipped and exposed himself to the victim. He exposed himself for a period of some twenty minutes.

During this time, he made inappropriate comments to the victim about her physical attractiveness and asked her untoward questions about her dating status. The victim was traumatized by this incident.

Last month, it was determined that Mr. Singh will serve a 90-day conditional sentence on house arrest. After he has served the conditional sentence, he will be placed on probation for 12 months.

India is an epicenter for scammers and criminals, so no surprises they take the same traits else where.

There are many Chinese and Arabs immigrants who came from humble settings to Canada but you never hear them committing crimes, robberies and running drug cartels there. All the mass influx of Indian immigrants in last decade or so really seem to have ruined the place

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Peel Police have arrested three additional individuals and issued one arrest warrant following multiple violent robberies in Brampton.

Between April and May 2025, police investigated three separate incidents where suspects engaged with victims via social media to arrange in-person meetings under false pretenses. Upon meeting, the victims were reportedly robbed, and in some cases, a firearm was presented.

On Saturday, May 31, two suspects were initially arrested. However, as the investigation progressed, a total of six suspects were identified. Investigators now believe that the suspects relied on false pretences to target South Asians, including members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and lure them into meeting up.

On Friday, July 4, police executed search warrants at several residences in the Region of Peel. As a result, 18-year-old Hardil Singh Mehrok of Brampton and two male youth aged 16 and 17 were arrested and charged with:
Kidnapping x2
Robbery x3

An arrest warrant has been sought for 20-year-old Preetpal Kooner of Mississauga for the same offences.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not come forward out of fear. Please note that investigators will prioritize protecting the identity and well-being of all victims.

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA - According to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court, Surrey gangster Opinder Singh Sian was at the centre of a vast conspiracy to import precursor chemicals from China and export narcotics through the port of Los Angeles to Australia.

Sian was well known in Vancouver organized crime circles. He was linked to the Brothers Keepers and survived a shooting in 2008, as well as another in 2011. In 2022, he became involved in a plot originating in Ankara, Turkey.

According to court documents, a special agent was brought in to investigate the drug trafficking.

This person had a phone conversation with a member of the drug trafficking organization in Turkey and then with Sian.

They arranged four drop-offs of methamphetamine to the confidential source in Southern California for shipment to Australia, including approximately 30 pounds of meth on June 22, 2023, 200 pounds of meth on July 6, 2023, 100 pounds of meth on Aug. 21, 2023 and 200 pounds of meth on Aug. 28, 2023.

After the pickups, the confidential source led Sian and others to believe that they had their drugs safely stored until they could be shipped from Los Angeles to Australia. However, when the drugs arrived in Australia, officials packaged fake drugs and placed a tracking device inside.

The fake drugs were then driven to a stash house and officers with the DEA in Australia then raided the stash house and arrested the receiving couriers. “After their initial contact, Sian and CS-1 continued communicating and arranged an in-person meeting in Vancouver, Canada, on February 1, 2023,” the court documents read.

According to the affidavit, Sian thought he was moving hundreds of kilos of meth, but the DEA intercepted all of it.

Court documents also allege Sian was involved in the purchase of precursor chemicals from China and the distribution of those chemicals to Mexican Cartels.

Mother and daughter accused of alleged marriage scheme promising Canadian residency

Police in the Northern Indian state of Punjab have uncovered an alleged marriage scheme involving a mother from India and her Canadian-based daughter. Police say the pair allegedly targeted young Indian men with the hopes of getting married and moving to Canada. They are alleged to have collected over $200,000 (₹1.60 crore) from several men and their families.

In an interview with OMNI News, Khanna police in Punjab confirmed that Sukhdarshan Kaur has been arrested in the city of Ludhiana, after allegedly organizing several fraudulent marriages for her daughter, Harpreet, who lives in Surrey, B.C.

Police allege Sukhdarshan would seek suitors through newspapers and advertisements for daughter, Harpreet, who police say posed as a potential bride and spoke with them on a video call. The alleged victims were then reportedly promised immediate marriages and Canadian visas after their engagements, but the bride never physically came to India. The supposed weddings would then be delayed or even excused.

Sukhdarshan allegedly asked for money from the groom’s families, explaining she had incurred debt after sending her daughter to Canada. It is alleged that both women would then begin requesting money, citing student tuition, rent, and medical emergencies. Some families told OMNI News in Punjabi that they sold ancestral land or took out large loans to pay the financial demands. They described emotional trauma and financial ruin because of the process.

The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in a statement said they cannot comment on specific cases due to reasons of privacy and consent.

“In instances of marriage fraud, enforcement action can be taken which include issuing removal orders to a spouse or partner who commits marriage fraud on the basis of misrepresentation. This could in turn lead to their removal from Canada,” IRCC wrote.

“It is a crime for a foreign national to marry a Canadian citizen or permanent resident only to gain entry to Canada.”

In a statement, Surrey Police confirms they have no records of complaints against Harpreet being reported.

“For SPS to investigate the matter, they would need to establish that the incidents occurred in our jurisdiction. Given the anonymity of the internet and the remote location of the victims, that may not be possible.”

OMNI News attempted to contact Harpreet by using a phone number provided by the alleged victims but it has been unsuccessful.

Punjab police said they became aware of the scheme after one of the alleged victims, Rajwinder Singh, who already lost over $29,000 (₹18.5 lakhs) received a WhatsApp voice note by mistake. In the voice note, Sukhdarshan discussed money-related matters and raised Rajwinder’s suspicion, who reported the tip to the police.

Police raided one of the alleged engagements on July 10 and stopped the ceremony, only to find a photograph of Harpreet, without her actual presence. Police then arrested Sukhdarshan, her son, Manpreet Singh, and another suspect, Ashok Kumar.

Inspector Akash Dutt told OMNI News that the investigation revealed transactions of over $200,000 made by several families. Many allegedly defrauded families spoke with OMNI News but declined to speak on camera.

Punjab Police have advised families to proceed with caution and thoroughly verify cross-border marriage proposals.

20,000 Indian students didn't show up to class after arriving in Canada. What happened to them?

Long celebrated as a global hub for international students Canada’s reputation is under scrutiny

Nearly 20,000 Indian students have failed to enrol at their designated colleges and universities after arriving in Canada. This has raised significant concerns about immigration fraud and the misuse of the student visa system.

A variety of factors play into this mystery. The first involves many Indian students being lured by fake colleges. And some have used their student visas to enter Canada and work rather than study. Some of those students seem to have been misled by unregulated agents promising easy access to jobs or permanent residency.

Do Canadian authorities have a handle on the problem?

Long celebrated as a global hub for international students, Canada’s reputation is under scrutiny. Troubling data has been released by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada indicating that in March and April 2024, 50,000 international students – 20,000 from India — failed to show.

Fake colleges in Canada, often referred to as “diploma mills,” operate by exploiting loopholes in the education system and using deceptive tactics to attract students.

These institutions typically lack accreditation from recognized accrediting bodies, which is crucial for ensuring the quality and legitimacy of educational programs. They often use misleading advertising, claiming accreditation or recognition that does not exist. This can include false claims about job prospects and post-graduation outcomes.

And unlike some other countries, Canada does not require upfront tuition fee payments, making the country’s system vulnerable to misuse.

If they don’t show up at their schools, what do the students do?

According to Canadian immigration expert Henry Lotin, most of the missing Indian students remain in Canada, working and seeking permanent residency rather than crossing into the U.S. Many students take up odd jobs to support themselves, often working in restaurants or as delivery couriers.

Meanwhile, some students are suspected of using Canada as a gateway to cross into the U.S. illegally, though this is not believed to be widespread.

How is India responding?

Indian authorities are investigating potential links between Canadian colleges and illegal migration networks in India. India’s Enforcement Directorate has conducted multi-city searches across India, including Mumbai, Nagpur, Gandhinagar, and Vadodara, to gather evidence related to human trafficking and money laundering.

These searches have uncovered incriminating documents and digital devices, as well as frozen bank deposits, indicating potential collusion between Canadian colleges and Indian entities.

What’s next?

Many students, especially international ones, are left financially and emotionally devastated after discovering they have been deceived. Their families often invest substantial amounts to sending them abroad for education, including tuition fees, living expenses and travel costs. If they do not enrol, these investments are lost, exacting a financial burden on the family.

Families also expect their children to secure high-paying jobs and then send funds back home. If they disappear it can mean a loss of future income, adversely affecting the family’s financial stability.

As a result, there is a growing call for stricter regulations and better monitoring systems and in doing so to reaffirm Canada’s reputation as a premier education destination.

Terrible.

The Khalistanis are a menace, the quicker the Canadian government places immigration filters on them the better, a case should be opened up as to what his qualifications were when he entered Canada and how is it being allowed.
they are Indians and they came from India

wasn't that hard was it? don't call them anything else, they are Indians.
They don’t want to be called Indians but Khalistanis.
I can call them criminals if thats good , and would be great if Canada and UK can return the Indian criminals as India has been asking for since 1985

Surprised that two neighboring countries (USA and Canada) have been intaking different breeds of immigrants. One gets the creme de la creme and the other gets riff raff.
I am afraid the picture is not as simple as it is being made out to be. Canada does not have the massive labor market as the US, plus they have a massive housing crisis on their hands. They also need immigrants more desperately than US and took on a lot of Indian and Chinese immigrants in the last two decades or so and now these people are struggling due to the poor employment situation.

Canada needed/needs these people hoping their taxes will fund their struggling social welfare schemes, but now its a catch 22 for them. Like US, Canada also has a massive aging population and needs an injection of young immigrants, but the other challenges already in place have complicated the situation.

Indian Punjabis need to stop man you giving whole of Punjab a bad name with these antics :ROFLMAO:

Not all of these criminals are punjabis. Some of them are from other areas also.

For example, many of the call center scammers are from West Bengal. West Bengal is a hub for call center scamming.

Don't care about those other Kumar's bro, but I have a deep affinity for Punjabis of any religion and UP Muslims. When these groups come into the news I get a bit sad.

I see.

A few years ago, one of my teammates (I used to play cricket with him) was a Punjabi Indian. He was very anti-Modi and anti-BJP.

They don’t want to be called Indians but Khalistanis.

you can just call them indians, if you want to pick another name for indians then u can use rapist, racist or scammers. These are globally acceptable alternate names for indians

Kumar is not a name by itself among Hindus. 99% of the times it is always preceded by another first name. Kumar is found all over India. Even among Christians. Names like Maria Kumar, Yesu Kumar are quite common in South Christians. Kumar is also found in Buddhists all around the world.
