Seriously disappointed with Khaleel. What a trundler he is. Bowls short at 130k. I read that he is a 140k+ bowler who can bowl yorkers and slower balls. Have not seen anything from him.

Right now Khaleel looks like a left handed Srinath in his early days. Only some 10kmph slower.

Yep. 130 regular with effort ball at 135 at most. Below average Fielding and batting. He's in the team now just because Kohli wants variety. I firmly believe Shami will be the third seamer soon. Decent fielder and can tonk a few along with being a better bowler.

I can foresee MSD meeting with the same fate as Shoaib Akhtar, who was dropped after Ross Taylor hit him to all parts in WC 2011 at Pallekele (albeit Akmal's fault). That was Shoaib's last ODI. I am guessing MSD would be dropped mid WC after a horrific performance and would be replaced by Pant! But it may be too late for us by then!

True. There is huge external influence that keep some of the deadwoods still in the squad. It is not going away. I made peace with myself that India will exit the first round of 2019 world cup. By now these youngsters should have played a substantial number of international games.

Gill's selection raised hopes but the chief selector confirmed that he is a back up opener. That means he will just warm the bench. Rayudu is a guarantee. Apparently Pant is still in the mix and will compete for a spot against DK I guess as a finisher and a backup keeper.
Pandya/Jadav/Jadega will fight for the AR spot.

Hershell Gibbs once said that the secret of SA's success then was one of him, Gary Kirsten or Kallis staying till the end. The rest just bat around them. But they had someone like AB as a fail safe with potent all rounders and gutsy lower order to bail them out.

This Indian team is a boom or bust depending on the top 3. There is just no fire power after them. Precisely the reason why they can't score more than 320 even on pattas. That is why they prefer to chase. Team's strategy is to bowl out opposition to less than 270 and then chase with one of the top 3 scoring centuries. Irony is India will fail if the wickets are flat. They need a sporting wicket that their skilled top 3 and the bowlers can take advantage of. India can probably reach semis with the top 3 and the bowling order but cannot go beyond there.

What did Rayadu win today??? I could count atleast 5 aerial shots that landed in no man's land before he gifted his wicket away. He had no control over any shot.

As it turns out, Rayudu, Dhoni, and Karthik are the best India got. I hope they continue playing. They deserve it for all the hard work they put up years and years in domestic and international cricket respectively.

They are certainly not our best but we have got such batting strength that even our expired players are better than most teams.

India will reach the semifinals in world cup. Any thing more would be a bonus. One should feel happy with a semi final finish.

Rayudu and gifted should never be used in the same sentence unless it reads 'the bowlers and fielders of the opposition were generous to have gifted runs to Rayudu'.

But I somehow feel Rayudu or Kartik, both wont make it to Worldcup , it'll be only one of them.
Maybe Rayudu will get injured or maybe Kartik.
But I feel optimistic that, Pant and Gill will be in. How I have no clue.
I mentioned before that there will be/should be a unforeseen turn of events such that Gill and Pant will be in .
I for sure would gamble with their inexperience rather than

experience of Rayudu & Kartik.
Dhoni is not going anywhere, but then again despite his slow batting in recent past , I have optimism he will play a positive vital role in world cup, especially in some low scoring game.As for Jadhav and Pandya, I still feel they will deliver when no one will expect them to deliver.

The toughest challenging teams for India to beat will be NZ and England and Pakistan to a bit lesser extent just because it is in England and no other reason.
If India play normal average game they will defeat most of the other teams. Of course there is always sports possibility of miraculous one time performance by some one in opposition but that will be an anomaly.
But for NZ/Eng to be beaten by India, some Indian player will have to perform above average on that day.Same goes for NZ/Eng...to beat India, one of their players will need to be exceptional on game day.

As Dhoni will be playing, I would like to firstly look if we can find any solid batsmen at 4 or not,

1) If we can, then Dhoni will bat at 5,Jadhav at 6(sixth bowling option) and Pandya at 7.

2. If we can't, then I will ask Dhoni only to bat at 4, Jadhav comes at 5, Pant at 6(as a specialist batsmen) and Pandya at 7.

So, if Gill can be that solid batsmen, then my XI will be: -
