Indian Premier League | Day 14 | Delhi & Hyderabad | Apr 23, 2016 | Match thread

Punjab as usual rubbish.

Gosh this IPL, it seems like every team is competing as to who is more rubbish.

KKR are still firm favourites to win this IPL.

MI are playing like lulloos but they have the core quality to comeback.

True, but Fizz is bowling to the requirement of his captain. He bowled more fullish length than bowling the cutter which has the danger of being struck for a six on this flat wickets.

And talking about wicket, you can only wicket if your able to put bat on ball. You can see that batsman are not being even able to put bat on ball.

Agree with that today. These batsmen are like deer caught in the head lights.

No worries about that. Part of the game and that looked out to the naked eye

I will worry about it given the amount of dodgy decisions (mostly wides and no balls in the first game) weve had so far today. That was missing by a good few inches and adds to the list of poor decisions.

Yep. KKR looks unbeatable.

Ofcourse you can't see the logic. Because you don't have one. Because you are still depressed from the Wt20. Because you are a huge Fizz fan and were disappointed that he didnt pick 5fers in every game. I feel you though

Really enjoying mustafiz's bowling batsmans in front of him looking like some club level batsmans

They should hand out a Pink cap for best economy. Fizz will win it hands down

Axar patel on steroids? He looks malnourished but hitting daddy sixes :shakib

Effects of a more convincing appeal perhaps showing through there, that ball that Bhuvi bowled that hit the thigh pad was only missing a few mms more than Mustafizur wicket ball was but no one really went up bar him.

Can someone familiar with the process tell me whether Mustafiz will play for Hyderabad next season or will he be auctioned again? Right now he is getting something like Rs. 1.5 crores. I'm sure he'll get a few times that amount after his performance this season if he gets auctioned again. Right now he is getting robbed.

Next season he will be watching IPL from his home

There will be a full fledged player auction in 2017. But the pattern has been that only AUS, SA players get the big bucks.

Lol Mashrafe got something like $700,000 a few seasons back. IPL auctions are really random and the owners don't have much cricketing sense.

Not anymore. They are very particular these days and typically multi dimensional players are paid more. It helps if you are from SA or AUS or WI

IPL is the breeding ground for future SA, Aus stars because its all Aus coaches. Sometimes i forget that its an Indian league. Even too many "ROOKIE" foreign comms, i am missing arun lal and Harsha bhogle TBH

Also, he will most probably be retained by SRH and will not even go for auction. When Starc is being retained for 600k, you know that bowlers don't typically get the millions unless they are all rounders

The same reason why the fielding standard of Indian cricket has gone up.

Starc for 600k would be an absolute bargain but i guess starc wanted to be in RCB otherwise he would have fished million. Narine too, was never released though by KKR.

You have a point about other bowlers. Someone like Steyn won't win you too many matches here, same goes to the likes of richardson, sean abott. We had taskin, he was bowling really good but he didn't take too many wickets for us.

No complaints with Fizz today. It was expected considering the Punjab team though. Picked up a couple of wickets and was responsible for a couple more. Great economy.

But bowling standards hasn't improved as much as one would like with Donald, Bond.

But yes, India has been exceptional with the fielding. Some tell that their bowling in World cup becomes good but its the calmness of Dhoni and exceptional fielding under pressure that makes their bowling look good.

Starc did the smart thing. Players around the world crave for long term contracts because there could be loss of form or there could be another player that's better in a year's term. The pot is limited and also being a foreigner limits your options.

Majority of teams rely of foreign bowlers in IPL. Indian bowlers are OK under pressure and I'd attribute that to IPL. There is not much you can do when the cupboard is bare

I think it might be a KKR vs DD final this time. I would have said RCB if not for the minnow bowling.

yes indian bowlers can maintain the pressure. They get yanked so much in IPL so they come strong in international cricket. But the big difference is in the fielding and captaincy. A lot of captain and fielding unit chokes like SA did in the CWC.

Not sold on DD yet. Their inexperience will haunt them come the playoffs. KKR, MI, RCB and GL/SRH in the playoffs I think

Indian batting doesn't get overwhelmed by big name bowlers because of IPL as well. They play them in IPL every year.

Top bowling from Mustaf.. saw every ball today. Nice to see someone bowl with so much control.. Punjab's ineptness helped him though

We can bring that up when India start playing other batsman. India play same batsman over and over again, understandably so but let's see how the bench performs.

I will single out kohli. He gets better under pressure when the likes of ABCD goes missing despite the skill

Why does the bench strength matter when talking about how the main Indian batsmen do under pressure?

Good teams don't change their players often. Having said that, there was one change recently and Manish Pandey did well. Even if a new player comes into the team, he would have already had experience playing Starc and co. At the least, he will not be overwhelmed by the name any more.

Sunrisers are looking like a real force now, with Williamson, Nehra and Yuvraj back they will be even more deadly. And Mustafizur will be hard to get away always now at death.

I liked pandey. Drop raina play pandey

That's what they did in AUS. Raina's done I think.

Raina is a has been. Not a technically great batsman but had tremendous nerves and good hand eye coordination, the latter fading with his age i guess

Yawns. People thought India's batting is done when Sachin, Dravid retired. But we replaced them with Kohli, Rahane. Don't worry guys, we will continue to churn out batsmen ;-)

Sunriseres look strong maybe too reliant on Warner, so that's why I would get Williamson in for henriques nd try to find a place for yuvraj.

Top bowling by Fizz today absolute force and finally gets a well deserved MOM.Punjab probably will send some of their players home early again.
