The dream the frontier the glass ceiling has been shattered by Virat Kohli. India defeats Australia in Test Series at their own backyard.

Being a Pakistani cricket fan, I am
Even willing to sacrifice my 1 months salary if the guarantee is they will win Test Series in Australia. That is how much desperate I am for the last 29 years.

This fairytale Indian legend win will be described with more passion at the end of 21st century.

Yep, even without Smith and Warner, I think that tomorrow is the greatest ever day in Indian cricket history.

I hope they understand that this dwarfs silly limited overs World Cups!

Yes it does and thats why kohli and co will win the world cup 2019 with ease against all A B C D teams participating in world cup

Well, being the best cricket team from subcontinent, I never had any doubt that if any Asian team got the quality to beat Australia in Australia, it got to be India. And boy, didnt they prove me right or what.

It is needless to say that I am elated with this historic series victory. But what is most satisfying are the young players playing the major role and we were not over reliant on only Virat Kohli.

Pujara has been exceptional but so is Mayank Agarwal. Who would have thought he being not in original squad, landed a day before christmas and played magnificently infront of 60k crowd at boxing day test in MCG. That kind of character among young players is what makes a champion team. Rishab Pant being another revelation on this series, not only in terms of scoring runs but winning hearts as well. A young bright character who is great with bat but also very social and has got great character. Kuldeep Yadav got to play only 1 test and performed exceptionally well. Hanuma Vihary was good throughout the series.

India's test batting is no longer dependend on Kohli/Rahane and bowling is not on Ishant/Ashwin only. I think IPL played a huge role for giving these kind of confidence to India's young cricketers. 15 years ago, a new young opener would be scared to face McGrath in a packed stadium but now likes of Aggarwal/Pant don't have a worry on earth facing Starc/Cummins. Though our first class developed test cricketers....IPL transformed them into characters.

The fact that we can beat Aust in Aust with minimum contribution from seniors is most satisfying. With an influx of great young players, I dont see India losing its no.1 rank anytime soon.

May be for you and few others. But for most of the fans WC matters more. Even for most of those hard-core cricket fans who enjoy cricket irrespective of the format WC is a bigger forum.

Had to happen one day, but no one would believe the Aussies ever losing at home to a subcontinental team watching the side from 1999 to 2008.

As a team to play the most cricket test matches in Australia (12) after England (15) this is an inevitable but nonetheless laudable achievement

India should have won back in 2008 . I do not want to get into the s...t that happened...
Anyway, der aaye durusth aaye.

We can appreciate victory in one format without belittling others.

Perspective, the shine's been taken off somewhat due to Aus well under full strength.

it is only the first step. india should beat australia in every series it plays against them.

Much deserved series win for india. They had the strength in batting to score runs to do well in Australia and now have bowlers to win them games abroad. Yes the Aussies are weak but even so india have been excellent.

Lol no it doesn't dwarf any world cup but it's something most fans have waited for so long.

No one other than you will ever think that, the world cup will always be the biggest competition.

At home even average teams can be difficult to beat for some teams. For example England and Australia both lost in BD against BD even with Smith. Similarly a half baked team Indian side winning in AUstralia is big big deal. I would not be surprised had the Indian team been a settled side. They were more unsettled than Australia when they landed. Two poor openers. Ridiculous tail. Noob keeper. Iffy middle order.

Indian could have asked Aus to follow on in 2 out of 4 tests here.

The last time, Aus was asked to follow on at home was in 80s.

Great achievement by India. They deserve credit for the win. They can’t control idiocy of Smith and Warner.

As an Indian I can tell you that you are wrong. The two greatest days in Indian history are when they became the #1 ranked team in the 1970s, and when they won the 1983 WC.

I respect the Indian cricket team and acknowledge that they have become the new Aussies of the 2000s in ODIs but Australia are without Smith and Warner, who were taken out of the team abruptly so their replacements weren't prepared and rushed in.

Every test side excluding Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies and Pakistan can defeat this Aussie side in their backyard at this moment. This is still a great performance, because they are the only sub continent side who can do it which speaks volume about the professionalism and strong development in cricket that has occurred in India meanwhile other subcontinent sides have lagged behind.

Whether ENgland, New Zealand and South Africa can defeat Aussies in Australia is an assumption. India has defeated the Aussies is a fact! And thats how it is.

We came so close in both 2003/4 and 2007/8. Winning either or both of those series would've been rad!

Amazing achievement. Pujara has had ATG performances in an overseas series.

Respect to Indian team and congrats to my Indian brothers here. Winning in Australia against Australia is no mean feat and needs to be cherished. Well done.

It is not lauded by some due to absence of some Aus players, but Indian team also have quite a few inexperienced players in this team.

Congrats to the Indians are in order. need to wait though to see if its will be 3-1 or 2-1. Our board could certainly learn from BCCI on building the cricketing infrastructure and promoting cricket and the grass roots level with proper incentives and mentoring provided to junior player's.

Wait...what? Did we complete the roof of the National Stadium, Karachi which has been under renovation forever

Good win by Ind but let's not get carried away. If Australia had batted first in these tests they would have also won.

I am happy that we finally managed to cross this threshold. Hopefully other Asian teams will take heart from this and do the same.

India might have won even in England and SA if not for the tosses. Similarly it might/might not have won if smith and warner are present in the team. so the luck got neutralized I feel.

Congratulations to India and it’s fans!

What a remarkable feat achieved by the team!

I wont say that lol. Pakistan's 2017 CT and 2009 ICC T-20 WC win and ODI series win in Australia against an ATG side in 2002 and a great SA team in 2013 are all forgotten. Australian posters could pin point that the 2018 Aus team was the weakest in history. It all depends on how Aus fairs against other teams going forward.

But I will admit, I thought Pakistan would be the first SC side to do this but that thought only came in my mind when Pakistan had a peak Akhtar, never in a million years though India could do it

Lol I don't think Pakistan will win a Test, let alone a series in Australia in my entire life time
