Rather than attacking @finalfantasy7, why don't you acknowledge India's poor infrastructures and the need to make it better? :inti

This is a common issue with many Indians. When a problem is highlighted, they attack the person instead of acknowledging/fixing the problem.

Majority Indians on this forum don’t have that time to even consume his news but he takes so much effort to go through random youtube and tweets to go through India’s problems, nothing but admiration there for him.

When you highlight their country's shortcomings, they attack you. Funny people. :inti

This is why they are 4-5 times behind China despite having similar populations.

Good roads can up accident rate: BJP MP Konda

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Vishweshwar Reddy alleged that the mishap was a result of poor planning and negligence during the BRS regime.

HYDERABAD: BJP senior leader and Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy on Tuesday held the previous BRS government responsible for Monday’s accident in which 19 people died when a tipper rammed a TGSRTC bus.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state office in Hyderabad, Vishweshwar Reddy alleged that the mishap was a result of poor planning and negligence during the BRS regime.

“If roads are bad, vehicles move slowly and accidents are less likely. But when roads are good and sharp, the chances of major accidents increase,” he remarked.

He said the Bijapur National Highway, announced in 2016, was delayed as the then BRS government failed to complete land acquisition, allegedly due to its focus on real estate interests. “The bus accident is a direct consequence of the BRS government’s negligence. It bears 100% responsibility,” the MP stated, accusing the previous regime of prioritising real estate gains over public safety.

Vishweshwar Reddy said he had written several letters to the previous BRS government, raising concerns about road safety, and has now requested the Union government to construct the highway in a straight alignment instead of multiple curves.

Multiple Vehicles Collide On Noida Expressway Due To Dense Fog, Many Injured

The accident took place on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, a 135 km long, six-lane wide expressway passing through the Haryana and Uttar Pradesh

Noida:
Over a dozen vehicles, including cars and trucks, collided on the Noida Expressway amid the dense fog in Delhi-NCR on Saturday morning. The accident led to a long traffic jam on the expressway and left several people injured.

The accident took place on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway or the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Expressway, a 135 km long, six-lane wide expressway passing through the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Visuals from the accident site show a white car that had climbed onto the divider with its bonnet severely damaged. A truck stands adjacent to it. Another car is seen stuck under a truck. Vehicles appear to have rammed into one another owing to reduced visibility amid thick smog.

The police and toll management personnel are involved in clearing the damaged vehicles with the help of cranes. Responding to the video, the Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) Police Commissioner office said that the cops are present at the scene and an investigation is underway.

"In the said case, the police force is present at the scene, and necessary actions are being taken," the Police Commissionerate wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Details about the exact number of vehicles and people affected by the accident are awaited.

Residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to a thick layer of smog, resulting in reduced visibility on the roads. Noida Sector-125, which is closer to the expressway, recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) of 449, falling under the 'severe' category at 12 noon, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police Issues Guidelines

In view of the dense smog covering Delhi-NCR, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Traffic Police has issued speed guidelines. On the Yamuna Expressway, the speed limit for light vehicles has been set at 75 km/hour, and for heavy vehicles, it is 60 km/hour.

Speed limits have also been set on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway: 75 km/hour for light vehicles and 50 km/hour for heavy vehicles.

Speed limits on the Noida elevated road are set at 50 km/hour for light vehicles and 40 km/hour for heavy vehicles.

India's deadly train crash renews questions over safety as government pushes railway upgrade

India’s prime minister had been scheduled to inaugurate an electrical semi-high-speed train equipped with a safety feature _ another step in the modernization of an antiquated railway that is the lifeline of the world’s most populous natio

India’s prime minister had been scheduled to inaugurate an electrical semi-high-speed train equipped with a safety feature — another step in the modernization of an antiquated railway that is the lifeline of the world's most populous nation.

Instead on Saturday, Narendra Modi traveled to eastern Odisha state to deal with one of the country's worst train disasters that left over 280 dead and hundreds injured. The massive derailment on Friday night involving two passenger trains is a stark reminder of safety issues that continue to challenge the vast railway system that transports nearly 22 million passengers each day.

India, a country of 1.42 billion people, has one of the world’s most extensive and complicated railways built during the British colonial era: more than 40,000 miles (64,000 kilometers) of tracks, 14,000 passenger trains and 8,000 stations. Spread across the country from the Himalayas in the north to the beaches in the south, it is also a system that is weakened by decades of mismanagement and neglect. Despite efforts to improve safety, several hundred accidents happen every year.

From 2017 to 2021, there were more than 100,000 train-related deaths in India, according to a 2022 report published by the National Crime Records Bureau. That figure includes cases in which passengers fell from the trains, collisions, and people being mowed by speeding trains on the tracks.

Official data also suggests derailments are the most common form of rail accidents in India, but have been on a decline in recent years.

According to India’s Comptroller and Auditor General, Indian Railways recorded 2,017 accidents from 2017 to 2021. Derailments accounted for 69% of the accidents, resulting in 293 deaths.

The report found multiple factors including track defects, maintenance issues, outdated signaling equipment, and human errors as main causes of the derailments. It also said lack of money or non-utilization of available funds for track restorations led to 26% of the accidents.

Even though the railway safety in India has improved compared to earlier years when serious crashes and accidents near unmanned crossings were more frequent, scores have still died and hundreds have been injured.

In 2016, a passenger train slid off the tracks between the cities of Indore and Patna, killing 146 people. A year later, a derailment in southern India killed at least 36 passengers.

The Modi government, in power for nine years, has invested tens of billions of dollars in the railways. The money has been spent on renovating or replacing the old tracks laid by the British in the 19th century, introducing new trains and removing thousands of unmanned railway crossings.

The train Modi was supposed to inaugurate Saturday was India’s 19th Vande Bharat Express, connecting the western city of Mumbai and the southern state of Goa.

The modern trains are designed to help reduce the risk of crashes and derailments. They will be paired with a countrywide automatic train collision protection system, a technology that will make travel safe, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

But the system was not yet installed on the track where Friday’s crash took place. It wasn't clear what caused the trains to derail and an investigation has started.

Experts suggest that the country’s railway system needs to prioritize safe tracks and collision protection.

“India has achieved some success in making train journeys safer over the years, but a lot more needs to be done. The entire system needs a realignment and distributed development. We can't just focus on modern trains and have tracks that aren't safe,” said Swapnil Garg, a former officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers.

At least 25 killed as bus bursts into flames after crash with motorbike in India

Some managed to break windows and leap to safety with minor injuries, while others were charred to death.

A passenger bus burst into flames after a motorbike crashed into it, killing at least 25 people and injuring several others in southern India.

A fire ripped through the bus within minutes early on Friday, trapping dozens of passengers as it sped along a highway near Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh state.

Some people managed to break windows, leaping to safety with minor injuries, while others were charred to death, senior police official Vikrant Patil said.

There were 44 passengers on board, most of whom were asleep at the time of the crash.

The bus was gutted and the unidentified bike rider also died, Mr Patil said.

The accident occurred in Chinnatekuru village near Kurnool, around 130 miles (210 kilometres) south of Hyderabad.

The bus was travelling between the cities of Hyderabad in Telangana state and Bengaluru in Karnataka state.

The motorbike rammed into the speeding bus from behind and became stuck, Mr Patil said. It was dragged for some distance, causing sparks that engulfed the bus's fuel tank.

"As the smoke started spreading, the driver stopped the bus and tried to put the fire out by using a fire extinguisher, but the fire was so intense he couldn't control it," Mr Patil said.

A team of forensic experts was investigating the incident.

India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered his condolences to the bereaved families.

Supreme Court raises concerns about highways becoming death traps during winter

“The affidavit blamed local and police administrations, while the Court did not want to treat the case suo motu as an adverse litigation, but only wanted solutions to the problem,” says Justice Maheshwari

The Supreme Court on Monday (December 15, 2025) drew the attention of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to the fact that the dark months of winter, lack of streetlights along long stretches, and vehicles parked haphazardly along the tarmac invite tragedy and loss of lives, like in the recent horrific accidents on highways in Telangana and Rajasthan claiming nearly 40 lives, many of them children.
Bench of Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi did not appear happy with an affidavit filed by the NHAI in response to the Court’s questions about why Indian roads continue to be such killers. Justice Maheshwari said that the affidavit blamed the local and police administrations, while the Court did not want to treat the suo motu case as an adverse litigation, but only wanted solutions to the problem.

Heavy traffic in India is getting discussed on PP. Truly, PPers are struggling for discussion points

How fascinating😂😂

You must be an Indian. Else, how are you getting these articles on your feed??
Basically i have to cach the bus to to work, as not enought car parking, i read a lot of news in the mornings and lunch break where i walk around for 45mins - both occasions i just read news, as i have a android phone, previously ive been reading some indian articles and hence my phone keeps sending me indian articles - based on my previous reading algorithms - so i save the articles i think people on pp would be interested in, then list these articles when im back at home generally in the evening time.

So as google employs mainly indian employees - aka the yardees - as you know, are generally paid for a fake $50 degree to get these jobs - its not my fault that my phone algorithm is like this - blame the indians, not me

28 Students Injured After School Bus Plunges From Bridge In Madhya Pradesh

At least 28 children were injured in the accident, with the condition of four to five students reported to be serious.

Bhopal:
A school picnic turned into a terrifying ordeal on Sunday morning when a bus carrying students and staff from Higher Secondary School, Bahadurpur, fell from a 12-foot-high bridge over the Sagad River in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district. At least 28 children were injured in the accident, with the condition of four to five students reported to be serious.

The bus was carrying approximately 45 students on a picnic trip to Sanchi. The students had left the school premises at about 8:00 AM, and the accident occurred at approximately 10:30 AM in the Nateran police station area, nearly 80 kilometers from Bahadurpur.

Eyewitness accounts and a preliminary investigation suggest that the Johad bridge is narrow. While giving way to an oncoming vehicle, the driver reportedly steered the bus towards the edge of the bridge. The vehicle lost balance, went out of control, and plunged straight into the dry riverbed below.

Moments after the crash, screams of frightened children echoed through the area. Local villagers rushed to the spot and immediately alerted the authorities. Police teams and administrative officials reached the scene promptly and launched a rescue operation. Children were pulled out of the damaged bus and rushed to nearby hospitals.

Several students suffered injuries and fractures to their hands and legs. Four to five children who sustained serious injuries were immediately referred to Vidisha Medical College for advanced treatment. Other injured students were taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital in Ganj Basoda, where doctors kept them under observation.

Confirming the incident, MLA Mukesh Tandon said that nine injured children were referred from Ganj Basoda to Vidisha Medical College, while the condition of the remaining students is stable. He added that all the children were from Ashoknagar district and were on an educational visit. "Fortunately, there has been no loss of life in this accident," he said.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kshitij Sharma stated that the bus was carrying around 40 to 42 children at the time of the accident. "Four to five children sustained serious injuries and have been referred to the medical college. The others received first aid and have been sent back to their district," he said.

After medical examination and treatment throughout the day, around 35 children were later sent back safely to their home district of Ashoknagar. Officials from the education department and district administration were present to oversee the medical care and transportation of the students.

Deadly Fog Triggers Major Road Accidents in Haryana, Several Injured

A major pile-up involving several vehicles, including three to four buses, occurred on NH-352D in Rewari amid heavy fog, leaving multiple injured and marking one of several such accidents across Haryana.

New Delhi: Multiple road accidents were reported across Haryana as dense fog drastically reduced visibility on major highways, leaving several people injured.
In Haryana’s Rewari district, a major pile-up occurred on National Highway 352D during the early morning hours when several vehicles collided amid heavy fog. Initial reports suggest that three to four buses rammed into each other while travelling from Rewari towards Jhajjar.
The sudden loss of visibility is believed to have triggered the crash. Those injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, though the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

Another accident was reported on National Highway 152D, also known as the Trans-Haryana Expressway, near Kharkara village in Rohtak district. Several vehicles, including trucks, buses and cars, were involved in a collision after dense fog engulfed the stretch, once again highlighting the hazardous road conditions prevailing across the region.

Following this, a separate pile-up also took place at Dhiktana Moda in Hisar, on National Highway 52, around 8 am. The incident began when a Kaithal roadways bus collided with a dumper truck. A second bus following closely crashed into them, after which a car and a motorcycle also became part of the chain collision. Multiple vehicles were damaged in the accident, and injuries were reported.
In a similar turn of events, several vehicles collided near Bambawar village in Uttar Pradesh on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway on December 13, which encircles the eastern side of Delhi. Reports said multiple people were injured as visibility dropped sharply due to dense fog.

IMD Cold Wave Alert for Haryana as Dense Fog Hits Delhi-NCR

The strings of accidents come amid a severe cold wave gripping Haryana, with temperatures ranging between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius across most districts.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier issued a cold wave alert for the state, warning of dangerous driving conditions due to fog. Commuters were advised to use low-beam headlights, maintain safe distances and exercise extreme caution while travelling.

The accidents also occurred against the backdrop of worsening air quality in the National Capital Region. Delhi woke up to dense smog on Sunday morning, with the average Air Quality Index recorded at 461 at 7 am, placing it in the “severe” category despite the implementation of GRAP-IV measures, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.
Thick haze was reported in several parts of the capital, including Ghazipur, ITO and Anand Vihar, where visibility remained critically low. CPCB data showed that many localities in Delhi continued to record severe air quality levels, compounding the risks on already fog-bound roads.
