India produced a myriad of talented pace bowlers in the 00's:

1) Zaheer Khan
2) Nehra
3) Balaji
4) Sreesanth
6) Munaf Patel
7) RP Singh
8) VRV Singh
9) Ishant Sharma
10) Praveen Kumar
11) Irfan Pathan

Agarkar was still playing until 2007 WC.

Can't think of any more

Has India ever produced so many talented pace bowlers? I initially thought most, if not all would go onto have long careers, instead of short lived like some pace bowlers playing for India in the 90s.

In the 90s:

1) Srinath
2) V Prasad
3) Kuruvilla (late 90s)
4) Mohanty (late 90s)
5) Harvinder Singh (only played 2-3 games, that too in late 90s)

Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan were really good bowlers.
I wish we had those kind of swing bowlers today in our team.

no, this thread is about 00's, our bowlers were much better in the 00's then the trundlers on the menu here in this post, Zaheer was average back then only had a few really good series but overall as a fast bowler he's mediocre, and Irfan was a total failure overall

I can count 7 who started and stayed a lot quicker than your latest trundling sensations.

I can count all fast bowlers in Indian history who started slower than Pakistani fast bowlers in the history of cricket

Doesn't change the fact that many of the bowers listed above would be among your fastest if they debuted for Pakistan today.

@ the guy with the username on the end "1998"

Was you born in 1998? (just making an assumption based on your username) If so, you probably started watching cricket when most of these guys made their debut's in the early-mid 00s.

some Indian fans are claiming that Umesh Yadav is the second coming of Waqar Younis, with his vicious pace of 140 on average and a rare 144k delivery and some 135k deliveries and massive 2-centimeter reverse swing.
By that logic, this list indeed is on par with Pakistani bowling of the early nineties and West Indies bowling of the eighties. (Indian fast bowler logic)

the best ever fast bowlers of Indian cricket history would not even make it into the Pakistani team of 80s and 90s, and arguably 00's

Now you are derailing the thread. But since you mentioned, Umesh bowled 145 average for 7 years, and now he averages 140 in Tests.

Waqar Younis after the first half of his career was trundling at 125-135kph pace. So, it will be in your interest if you compare them on talent and not on pace. That will shut Indians up for sure. :)

Maybe not, so? I never claimed that, nor is it the topic.

hahaha biggest joke here, Waqar Younis was clocked at 153k even after his back injury in the mid nineties, in the last few years of his career when he was past his prime and bowling around 135k he was still obliterating battng line ups, Umesh average pace is 140k everyone who hs watched him recently can tell that, he is an average bowler at best, but by Indian standads he is one of the best in history, averaging in mighty 30s, illetrate Indians fans crying with inferiority complex of never having an express pacer. Keep boasting Umesh and tell everyone that he;s 160k on average:D

No Indian claimed it ever, and now that you are making things up, I would give this stupid argument a rest.

If these all are sensations, then Anwar Ali too can be considered a 'Legend'.

You forgot to add the real crowd pulling sensations

Vinay Kumar, Ashok Dinda and Jaydev Unadkat

They were all okay in ODIs; But absolute rubbish in Tests.

Besides Zaheer Khan. He is India's best ever pace bowler. Also very underrated among other greats.

Bait Thread.

Zak_Fan pounced on it like a jiffy! Looks like the OP did a lot of research to find all those names.

The fact that India have managed to win a series in WI (in 2006) with that bowling attack is commendable. Not many teams have done that in their life time, with far superior bowling attacks!

On the day when Sehwag conquered Multan, posts like these come :D

and after that younis khan also conquered in india after he destory india best bowling ever sorry

their are more than one innings i cannot post :salute

Yadav has been all class this series.. Shami has shown lot of promise too

This thread is clearly a troll, that being said India's non-existent pace attack is all we have as Pakistani's to gloat about. If anything this troll thread has just highlighted just how bare the cupboard is in every other aspect of cricket.

:)) bowlers like sadaf hussain, taj wali who cant make it into the national team are better than the ones mentioned above

Same could be said about Priyank Panchal, Shreyas Iyer and a lot of Indian batsmen compared to what Pakistan has served. Why get into this mudslinging contest friend? OP has done a good job baiting!

Zaheer, Nehra, Sreesanth, Munaf, Ishant, Irfan

So much potential.

All wasted.

Munaf was so good when he came on the scene.

Irfan and Ishant were next level.

they are very talented, you should have named someone like Imran khan junior of Zalmi, he is ideal for Indian team

Is this thread about batsmen or bowlers?

I always saw zaheer khan an equivalent to our umar gul.

Indian Pace bowlers have always been below pakistan and this trend (to my surprise) is still going on. Even a 2nd rated Pakistani fast bowler Umar Gul which carried on for 3 years as spearhead after banning of Amir and Asif and retirement of shoaib .... has equivalent stats (and better skills) to guess who ... indias finest Zaheer Khan .. LOL

Indian fast bowlers rely massively upon their batting to save the day, their batsmen pile up giant totals, backed by great fielding and leadership. Take that all away from indian fast bowlers and you get messed up chest open actions, lack of skills (seam and swing), waywardness ... Pakistani Cricket has become a circus now. Laced with corruption, lack of management, ruined batting and fielding, even in these conditions we have proper bowling talent coming through. Those who agree with me will understand that technically pakistani fast bowlers are still more technically correct and skillful than Indian pacers. Stats are a product of environment you play in, people like Amir, Wahab, Asif, Hasan ali, Sohail khan , Raees, Gul, Sami, etc never played under leaders like dhoni or kohli supported by fielders like yuvraj, jadeja, kohli ... pakistani pacers do not get to defend 350 in ODIs ... Their captains usually give them stupid field settings, and even if chances are created, catches are dropped. They dont get anything still they win us matches so guys have some respect for them. On the other hand India is a kind of a side where people like Ishant Sharma with an average of 37 has played ~80 tests LOL ... offcourse we cant question ishant when the biggest legend in India Kapil Dev had a test average of what 30 ? ....

Btw its same with pakistani batsmen and Indian ones. Azhar Alis stats in tests almost matches with Virat Kohli but does that mean anything ? ....

Bait thread for indians ... clever indian friends will understand.

Please stop lying and educated yourself

Even on his last legs he was around 135-138kph

I personally preferred the legends Vinay Kumar, Unadakat and Mithun

Wish they form a 4 man attack with Dinda one day

Those trundlers won more games in Australia and South Africa in the 00s than well...your trundlers.

Sorry but were any of those bowlers sensations or even close to?

Praveen Kumar ,RP Singh, Balaji, and Sreesanth "bowling sensations" . :))) :))) .

Most of them were rubbish.

Irfan was a good swing bowler prospect who could have ended up with a career similar to Zaheer/Srinath but was wasted.

Shami is good but his fitness should be cared off.Yadav has improved immensely but it's to be seen how he does overseas.

Ishant started off great but is nowhere near top 15 bowlers in the world.

Basically, India had three pacers Kapil/Zaheer/Srinath comparable to James Anderson level and that is the best we had in our history of cricket.

Barring Zaheer who himself took till the late 20's to become a quality bowler the rest were nothing to write home about.......
