Some names that come to mind straightaway :-

Henry Olonga :yk
Poster boy of bongo bongo in Cricket. Mostly famous for his long hair and frequent confrontations with the Indian team when India were only good enough to have a rivalry with Zimbabwe lol. Remembered vividly for getting phainty from Sachin but he had the last laugh when he knocked India down in world cup 1999.

Javed Miandad trolled him so bad in a test match it became stuff of history. Now any talk show involving ex Indian-Pakistani players is incomplete without any mention of the incident.

He might have been a very good cricketer but kids of 90s will always remember for his legendary name more. Still remember teasing school mates by calling them Attapattu.
 
Zulqarnain Haider, the king himself!

Man asked for his passport to get a sim, a few hours later claims asylum in England!
 
Shivalkar and Rajinder Goel. Great spinners who couldn't play because presence of spin quartet.
 
Used to love that guy called Ramesh Pawar. Proper swagger don.

Also Andre Nel for his anger issues. Scary bloke!
 
Palla maheshweri the first genuine fast bowler from Asia, nobody know how quick he was, as he was bowling in late 1890's but story goes that he was frighteningly quick and genuinely use to intimidate British with his pace.

I am glad you stopped at 1890 because Indians would go as far back as Mahabharata to prove they had fast bowlers. :akhtar

Bhai you can check article on Google about him, also this was during British India. We had archers and mace welders during Mahabhaarat

Yes a midget version of Snoop Dogg he was :yk

And while we are at it who can forget Laxmipathi Balaji and rockstar reception by Pakistani brothers during Jeet lo Dil series in 2004. He was the originally bongo bongo of Indian cricket before Hardik Pandya claimed it.

India have produced two of the fastest bowlers in cricket history.. It's a travesty that they couldn't showcase their ferocious pace to the world.

Palla maheshwari used to bowl at 160+ regularly and is faster than any bowler in history of the game barring one.
Atul Sharma has been clocked at 175kmph and his average speed at his peak was 163.2kmph, because of injuries he couldn't make it to international cricket otherwise he would have made the so called fast bowlers look like trundling teletubbies..
[MENTION=65183]freelance_cricketer[/MENTION] might not be aware of these two legends sincd he is a young kid so he needs to read a bit more about them..

Actually name of Robin Singh. He is very regarded in Indian considering his mediocre stats.

No need to ridicule palla maheshwari, if I am not Wrong their is not a lot mentioned about him except that he was from Gujarat And use to bowl quick.

When did I ridicule him? He is a legend and one of the fastest bowlers the world has ever seen.

As soon as I saw the thread I expected Chetan Sharma's name to be there.

To be fair, the guy was a good pacer. Just had the bad luck to be in front of Miandad on that day... And in a documentary even Miandad himself defended him. Indian fans were too harsh on him after the 6er :facepalm:

Later, he redeemed by getting a (match-winning) 5fer in England. He was not a hack!

Anyone remembers that West Indian spinner who issued statement against Indian batsmen that he allows nobody to dominate him in his home lol. :yk He sounded very serious. It was like 5-6 years ago i guess. :)))

Not sure how.many of you remember this but the first ODI when India toured Pak in 2000s, Pak were chasing 349 and a six was required on the last ball. Ashish Nehra bowled an absolute dolly of a full.toss to Moin and it was a catch instead of a six. Similar scenario, different batsman

But sometimes one incident defines your career. Like it or not he will always be remembered for that six Javed hit him for. It was the last ball of the match in a major final.

And I am son of bharat there is no shame in that, mahabharat represents whole Asia not just India its a pity you have to take dig at it, considering it is one of the most fascinating epic of time but most importantly it gave one of the most beautiful lessons of living life in bhagvad Geeta

The moment you took his name in same sentence along with Atul Sharma its clear that you are taking dig at him he is mentioned by Harsha bhogle ESPN star atleast we should respect our pre independence Era sportsmen like palla, Amar singh and Mohammad nissar or Ranji singh duleep singh

I don't know if anyone who's good enough to play so many test matches for England can be labelled mediocre. He clearly is one of the best cricketers in the country.

He gets positive and negative coverage and is often in the limelight because of how he impacts the balance of the side because of the question as to whether he can play as a sole spinner and hold up one end bowling 25-35 overs a day.

He averages 30 with the bat and 36 with the ball, that's not world beating, but definitely better than "mediocre".

Didn't achieve much but people will remember him for one thing. Hitting monstrous sixes. He could really hit some big ones. One of the cleanest strikers of the ball ever.
 
Gary Pratt.

His singular known achievement in international cricket being the run out of Ricky Ponting at Trent Bridge in the famous 2005 Ashes series.
 
Olonga also wore the black armband against Mugabe in the 2003 World Cup alongside Andy Flower and others.
 
I'd add Richie Benaud- he's far better known as a broadcaster & "the sound of cricket" to a generation of fans here, many of whom are only vaguely aware he used to play and don't really know what he did playing the game.
 
Alan Mullaly who once became the best ODI bowler for England, but now his views are pretty left field I must say - Does anyone remember him??

Doshi was not a nobody. He was not a trail-blazer by any means, but he had well over a 100 Test wickets. As a comparison, his stats are very similar to Mohammad Amir's in Tests, and better than him in ODIs :-D
Not having being born sooner is something I can understand, but only people who have not read enough yet try to appear know-all often fall prey to stupid posts.
