Too many negative threads on IPL already.

Saw some negative threads on PSL when it was ongoing.

It should not come to a point where failure of the event in one country brings joy to the other.

I am not a big T20 fan and have only occasionally seen/attended some PSL games. Will probably not watch IPL much at all since no Pakistanis play there. Doesn't mean I'd want it to fail.

Both the events will go on, both will get stronger as they grow and will bring joy to millions. They won't be affected an iota because of naysayers on the other side.

Live with it!

Thank you, and an even bigger thank you if you are a Pakistani fan. We need more your kind. :salute:

Positive thread dont get many replies unfortunately :sanga
People like negative threads more..

Yup I don’t watch the IPL anymore but I don’t want it to fail. Both tournaments can exist and thrive together.

It’s fine to compare both leagues, but we shouldn’t be rejoicing and ridiculing the opposite country’s league when something goes wrong.

Very good thread but unfortunately it will not get many responses, I don't watch that much IPL but I hope it will get only bigger and better and same for psl. Both leagues can be successful and useful for both the countries, In Sha Allah

Most of the negativity stems from a section of the crowd who want to feed their insecurity and are hell-bent on trying to prove that the pigs can fly and the earth is flat, i.e. the PSL is (will be) better than the IPL.

As a result, you have people hopelessly trying to educate them that the PSL will never be half of what the IPL is. The PSL ends up getting bashed as collateral damage. As vengeance, the same folks end up criticizing the IPL because they cannot digest its glory and success.

If we accept the fact that the PSL is Mickey Mouse in front of the IPL, we will learn to appreciate the good that it has done for Pakistan cricket and will do so in the future. Considering the constraints, the PCB could not have done a better job with the PSL.

As far as the IPL is concerned, it is a phenomenal tournament. InshAllah it will get bigger and better in the future.

It’s honestly quite sad how you don’t wish for the PSL to get bigger and better in the future but do for IPL :(

The other issue is that as we speak, there is Champions League, Masters, various football Leagues, Commonwealth games, formula 1, baseball and a million other sport going on. So much to choose from for majority of the world.

While all we are spending our time is comparing the two leagues for the past 2 months.

Just need to chill.

This thread is about ipl and you talk about insecurity then bring up psl. So I wonder who's insecure.

I have followed the IPL since the 2nd season. I have enjoyed it throughout. Just like I enjoy the PSL. At the end of the day, we just want to see good cricket. PSL can never match IPL,in fact no T20 league can. So let's just enjoy both leagues and stop making threads about Pakistan vs India, etc.

IPL have watch parties this time on a much bigger level. They have select cities where they show the live on big screens.

My post from another thread:

f_c stirring the pot as usual. Feeding the insecurities of our fans and then taking a backseat as they show their vulnerability. Well played.

You have to feel sorry for our fans. They simply cannot come to terms with the reality that the PSL will always be insignificant compared to the giant that the IPL has become today.

Pakistan cricket does not have the appeal, marketability and star power of Indian cricket, and unless the PCB finds a goldmine, it will always lag behind the BCCI in terms of financial muscle. As a result, the high quality players will always prefer to play in the IPL.

The global perception of the two countries also makes a difference. It will take a lot of time and a lot of effort for Pakistan to improve its reputation, while India has made great strides over the last 15-20 years or so, and are greatly respected as a nation.

As a result, our fans have created this alternative reality where the quality of the bowling in the PSL is better than the quality of bowling in the IPL.

However, when you ask them to explain why and how, they end up falling over each other in an attempt to juggle all the contradictions.

“McCullum, Gayle etc. have failed in the PSL but are IPL stars”

Okay, but then how do you explain the success of the batsmen who have done well in the PSL.

A quick look at the top scorers in the league’s history says everything that needs to be said.

How many of these batsmen are world class players with significant achievements at the top level? Zero.

The quality of bowling in PSL is better”

Who are these high quality bowlers? Obese Patel of all people, bowled his side to the title with his legendary spin bowling.

Rahat Ali, a proven failure in international cricket, was one of the leading pacers.

A 50 year Sami is still one of the top bowlers, and he will not last a series in international cricket.

A past his prime Afridi had a great season with the ball, and he was finished as a bowler years ago.

PSL have a few good Pakistani bowlers, but that is it. Apart from Tahir and Narine, it does not have quality international bowlers, especially when it comes to fast bowling.

In the IPL, majority of the contemporary world class fast bowlers play alongside very good Indian bowlers. It is a league where Boult, Starc, Rabada, Steyn, Johnson etc. play and have played in the past.

These names are too big to play in the PSL, as Johnson showed. Even after retiring, he could not be bothered to show up in the PSL.

However, he will definitely play in the PSL once he is no longer good enough to get an IPL contract. Same goes for Bravo and others.

The IPL wipes the floor with the PSL in every single aspect. Always has and always will. It is the gold standard of franchise cricket, and the quality of cricket is the same as that of T20 internationals. It is international cricket in franchise form.

The PSL is nothing but a poor imitation. It is a Made in China version of the IPL, and same goes for the other leagues who attempted to copy the IPL but do not have the clout of Indian cricket.

PSL’s overall quality is poor. The bowling is mediocre, but the batting is embarrassing. The fact that the batting is minnow level and easily the worst among all T20 leagues make the mediocre bowling look better than it actually is.

The PSL bowling attacks will get hammered in the PSL, and the IPL bowling attacks will do well in the PSL.

Our fans have always lead the way when it comes to being delusional, but I feel sorry to see them do this to themselves. Yes every Pakistani, including myself, would love to see Pakistan cricket and the PSL surpass Indian cricket and the IPL.

However, it is never going to happen for a multitude of reasons. Hence, instead of trying to live in an alternate universe to feel better about your misery, why not make it easy for yourselves by accepting the reality?

The PSL does not have to be half as good as the IPL to help Pakistan cricket. The PSL will be doing its job as long as our people are able to watch the matches at home and the young players are getting opportunities to stake a claim in international cricket.

Why try to become something that is beyond our reach? The jealousy, insecurity and bitterness are not helping us one bit. Stop embarrassing yourselves by comparing the PSL to the IPL.

I wish for many things, but wishes are mere wishes. The PSL will never get anywhere close to the IPL due to a multitude of reasons.

Like it or not, but the IPL is the future of cricket.

its a good time pass when theres not much to do on saturday evening before going out with friends

Wonderful thread. To be honest, I'm new here, but I find the incessant trolling to be distasteful. I'm a proud Pakistani supporter but that doesn't mean we can't appreciate good cricket. I'm proud of the PSL; the way it has come up despite unbelievable odds to be an established tournament is something to be very proud of. The IPL is and will remain the gold-standard for leagues; there's no shame in accepting that, or making claims that the PSL is somehow better. We just come across as bitter, and it's not befitting us. In fact, most Indians I've met in Canada, have been pretty positive towards the PSL; it's the Indian media that like to have a chip on its shoulder.

Let's just enjoy the cricket on show and back in the fact that players who were snarling at each other a month on opposing international teams are bum buddies in the same team.

THAT is the magic of franchise cricket and what made the IPL special when it launched. Seeing Symonds and Harbhajan get on, Laxman and Afridi share a laugh, Ponting and Tendulkar on the same team, and MOST importantly, Indians feel bad when Akmal drops another catch is what made it all special. It would be good if we can all get along and have a single league. Considering that Starc, Rabada and Cummins are injured and people like Laughlin are getting call ups, there is definitely place for Amir, Hasan and Junaid in the IPL.

Let's enjoy cricket and let it bring us together, not take us apart.
