"Iran has suffered from terrorism as well, from groups operating in Pakistan" : PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday reiterated that no militant group will be allowed to operate from within Pakistani soil during his maiden visit to Tehran after both countries hurled accusations at each other following recent attacks in both Iran and Pakistan.

Addressing a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, PM Imran said that the “entire political spectrum has agreed that no militant group will be allowed to operate from Pakistan”.

“The decision was made through consensus with the country and not due to external pressure,” he asserted. “Iran has suffered from terrorism as well from groups operating in Pakistan.” he said.
PM Imran added that the security chiefs will sit together to strategise cooperation and expand support in fight against terrorism.

Rouhani emphasised on strengthening bilateral ties between Tehran and Islamabad and said “no third country will be allowed to influence friendly ties between the two” during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s maiden visit to Iran.

The two leaders covered multiple issues in the bilateral dialogue, including border security. “We are expanding our security ties and setting up a joint rapid reaction force to guard common borders,” said the Iranian president. “PM Imran has reiterated that Pakistan will not join any war coalition.”

Rouhani accepted PM Imran’s invitation to visit Pakistan and hoped he would be able to visit Islamabad soon. He thanked the premier for accepting the invitation to visit Tehran and the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad and termed the visit as a turning point for both countries.

The Iranian president expressed Tehran’s interest in establishing links between Gwadar and Chahbhar ports to strengthen trade. “Iran is ready to meet oil and gas requirements of Pakistan and also export electricity. We have already taken measures to install gas pipelines along Pak-Iran border.”

Reminiscing that if the British had not colonized the sub-continent, Persian would still be the preferred language of the region, the premier thanked the Iranian president and appreciated the respect extended to the Pakistani delegation.

“The first time I came here was in the 1970s. Iran has become an egalitarian society – the difference between the rich and poor in Iran has lessened,” he said. “Such a revolution is needed in Naya Pakistan.”

“Most importantly, the reason for my visit is the issue of terrorism which is increasing. We have suffered more from terrorism than any other country with over 70,000 casualties.”

Imran said Pakistan was luckier still when compared to Afghanistan. “Despite the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, Kabul has been unable to contain militancy,” he added. The prime minister stressed that justice brings peace.

Earlier today, PM Imran arrived at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace and was received by Rouhani.

The premier, on his maiden trip to Islamabad’s south-western neighbour, was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of the Iranian military.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the premier and Iranian president began delegation level talks. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries in the health sector.

PM Imran arrived in Tehran late Sunday after a brief stop-over in Mashhad on the invitation of the Iranian president. The premier and his delegation were received by Iran’s health minister and minister-in-waiting Dr Saeed Namaki.

In Mashhad, the premier paid respects at the shrine of Imam Reza and prayed for the prosperity of Pakistan.

During his visit, the PM will meet Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He is also scheduled to meet members of the Iranian and Pakistani business community in Iran.

PM Imran is on a two-day crucial trip to Tehran amid rising tensions between the two neighbours following the recent attack in Ormara in which some 25 unidentified militants stopped passenger buses travelling between Karachi and Gwadar, offloaded passengers after checking their identity cards and executed them. Pakistan has taken the stance the perpetrators were trained in Iran.

This is the first visit of Imran to Tehran since he became the prime minister in August last year and is being watched closely because of a number of factors, including Pakistan’s deepening ties with Saudi Arabia, which is at odds with Iran.

Someone tell this guy 14 people were martyred by Iran. How are you forgetting this so quickly?
Just coz Iran is a muslim country it doesn't mean you start sucking them off.

As if Imran has the authority to control and monitor the militant groups in Pakistan. The higher powers didn’t even allow him take charge of the Interior Ministry for long.

It took only them only 8 months to kick him out and install their own man.

He is delusional and naive beyond measure, and I am sure his statement that Pakistani based militants have created trouble for Iran would upset the propagandists who would have you believe that all the terrorist groups in Pakistan are on Indian payroll.

Although he is the chief beneficiary of Pakistan’s dirtiest elections in years, sham accountability & political engineering yet it seems that soon his slogan will also be “ Vote Ko Izzat Dou ” & “ Civilian Supremacy ”

His masters won’t be happy with this statement. Imagine President Asif Ali Zardari or Nawaz Sharif giving this statement and than {PTI} brigade would have flooded Internet with traitor, anti State titles.

For once well done to PM Imran Khan. Will be witness another Memogate or Dawn Leaks saga ?

Inevitably there will be woke journalist brigade in Pakistan jumping over this statement and saying how dare he blah blah considering Nawaz Sharif,m said the same thing and he was sacked because imaginary brave journalist Cyril wrote about it.
Firstly, Nawaz Sharif was laid low because he was corrupt
secondly, Nawaz doesn’t know how to get along with the security state: it’s a basic qualification to run Pakistan

Did IK just admit to cross border terrorism from within Pakistan? I remember another leader admitting it and getting grilled for this in the media. Let's see how our golden boy is treated.

He was grilled pretty bad.

Hypocrisy isn't it. When NS talked about this and admitted it he was called a traitor but when IK said pretty much the same thing he's being called bold and Courageous.

Sharif and bro did a media a tour and decided that confrontation with the establishment was the way to resolve things. Not how it works in Pakistan

Lol NS mentioned Pakistan deliberately sent terrorists to India. IK is mentioning Iran, world of a difference. Ganja and his Butt kissers should shut up

Low blow calling someone ganju but it's justifiable in this context.

Our PM, while teaching world history and the importance of peace to the Iranian leadership, mentions how Germany and Japan after killing millions of people, decided to industrialise the border area between the two countries.

:))) :)))

Imran Khan is becoming a meme and embarrassing Pakistan in foreign countries now. He truly is our Trump. It gets worse and worse for PTI supporters. The humiliation is showing no signs of stopping.

Please Kaptaan, stick to cricket - that is all you know. Don't butcher history and geography.

As someone rightly pointed out on Twitter, only Kaptaan has the power to join Japan and Germany even if there are a dozen countries between them.

"Ye hota hai leader, ye hota hai vision".

PTI supporters used to mock Nawaz Sharif for reading from a piece of paper. Perhaps Imran should follow suit to avoid embarrassing himself in the future.

Since he learned nothing in his geography class in school, a quick google search by his team would have saved him the embarrassment of calling Japan and Germany neighbours, but then again, our Kaptaan is always right so perhaps it was beneath him to get his facts right before opening his mouth. After all, whatever he says or does is always right.

He has altered the world map with his latest discovery. Germany and Japan are border countries and we had no idea.

If this was Nawaz or Bilawal, PTI supporters would be doing bhangra. Perhaps Imran should take a piece of paper with him in the future and avoid these silly goof-ups.

I think he meant France and Germany.

Of course, but he is being rightly bashed because this was no place or time to make such a silly mistake. You go to a foreign country and you don't even prepare what you are going to say. Imagine if Nawaz or Bilawal had done this, PTI supporters would have had a field day.

So your idea of making fun of PTI supporters is... acting just like them? I'm all for healthy political discourse, but this is making a mountain out of a molehill as it was nothing more than a slip of tongue.

This is horrific, I call for his immediate resignation.i want the family businesses back to rob a poor country, because theft is not a problem. Thanks mate, your posts are so enlightening.

You are right in principle, because it is unwise to stoop to the level of PTI supporters.

Don't worry about his resignation, if this circus (reshuffling) continues, it won't be long before the higher powers (who brought him in power in the first place) get rid of him. Honesty means nothing when you have no idea of what you are doing.

The solution to corruption is not to have a PPP Finance Minister as financial advisor, Firdous Awan as Info and Broadcast Assistant and Fawad Chaudhry as Science and Tech Minister. What this country needs is competency, not an obsession with corruption.

These people do not represent competency, and neither does removing 5 members of your team in 8 months as well as removing your economic genius Asad Umar whom you championed as the solution to Pakistan's economic woes for nearly a decade.

PTI will not survive forever on the "but we are not corrupt" rhetoric. Not only is it untrue, it is also irrelevant. If you cannot deliver, there is no point to your honesty. Economics are developed on competency and expertise, not honesty.

Oh dear. Interesting.

You are right in principle, because it is unwise to stoop to the level of PTI supporters.

Let's face it mate, you are a mental midget. You support crooks and when you are confronted with evidence of their theft, you have no answer. You are direct beneficiary of Corruption, and that's why you make mountains out of molehills. The IRA were based in Eire but it didn't mean they were complicit in attacking Iran. We are being attacked from Baluchistan and we haven't found all of the terrorists except thankfully Yadav. Baluchistan is a big place and it's not always possible to find all the terrorists that are hiding.

I think you are desperation shows in all your posts. You can't comment on Corruption but it's not a problem, it's not a problem for you because you have eaten from satan's cup, you back any crook you can find. Let me remind you have supported NS, then SS, then Maryam, than AZ, and now Billo. Can you name a crook you haven't supported? The PTI have inherited an economic disaster and if it doesn't fix it, it will lose. How is that any different from any other party?

Should say attacking UK from Eire

Is this about the Iran comment?

He's right, Jundallah were a CIA backed force operating out of Balochistan.

Also the poster falling for the faked video above :))

The Germany/Japan comment.
Mamoon if this video is doctored then I say you should be banned for using fake Noora media cell on here. Do you agree that you should be banned for this as you posted without checking the authenticity?

Please no. The chap believes fake videos and will write an essay on it. We need such entertainment. :)

Even if he did make it, which looks like he didn't, it's hardly the crime of the century. Some people are so desperate.

Precisely. Much ado about nothing.

Understandably something worthwhile for PML-N supporters to cheer about on social media, however. Choti choti khushiyan.

The liar in chief posted something about Millitant groups and i posted a link which showed that the Nooras were in cahoots with anti Shia groups and he ran, I posted a link to the $3bn stolen from the poor of Sindh and none of these guys had the guts to come on the thread. These guys are such losers that they don't have the guts to come and defend their slave masters.

Ah yes, the video is "fake" and "doctored". Zero marks to PTI supporters for their complete and utter lack of originality.

Ali Salman Alvi wants us to wait till tomorrow because he needs some time to edit the video and save Imran the embarrassment.

Imagine if Nawaz or Bilawal would have made this mistake and PMLN/PPP supporters would have called the video fake. PTI supporters are a gift to this country. May the entertainment and the circus continue.

I am actually happy that Imran laid bare to our state sponsored terrorism, but I highly doubt the military would be happy with their confession. I also found it funny when he said that the they will control terrorist groups in Pakistan as if he has any authority on that matter.

You're running around in circles.

Can you provide a YouTube link for this video? Why isn't there any other version of it available besides this 32 second version and why was it exclusively available to Talat Hussain only?

It's really not such a big deal but since you posted an essay on it, let's at least verify whether it's real or not...

He did no such thing, he said PK territory has been used. As explained to you, people can use your territory without your knowledge, just look up IRA and Eire.

You sure do contradict yourself. If you claim that terrorism in Pakistan is state sponsored, it means the state controls it.

Come on man, you pay taxes to this government! Have some faith!

The video is not fake, but a fake video is on its way from PTI media cell to cover up Imran's embarrassment.

Love your confidence. Wish if you also had wisdom to think that PPP is not the answer for our future. Their gutter politicians have had their chances. Yes IK government has showed incompetencies in the first 8 months, but its been only 8 bloody months.

But if the video does turn up to be fake, should you be banned?

Think about it logically, which I am sure is a challenge for you but I trust you can try nonetheless. Why would anyone doctor this video anyway?

This is a question not only for you but for all PTI supporters here.

What does PMLN and the opposition gain by faking this video? What mileage do they get by swapping France for Japan? Imran gives speeches every other day, and he has met several foreign leaders in his tenure so far. Why would they choose this particularly video and this particular statement to edit?

What does anyone get out of this except a few laughs, and if they want to edit his videos, they would have done so several times already.

state in this context is the military. They are the ones who actually run the state that is why.

I pay taxes because it is my obligation. It doesn't matter if it goes into military pockets.

As a brainwashed PTI supporter, you would believe if Imran told you that the earth is flat. There is no way PTI's cover-up video (whenever they are done with the editing) can be proved as real.

No essays, just need a link. Stop quivering, and show the full video and everyone can make up their own mind.

Abdullah719 I believe this part of my post addresses your question. Again, as I told Bewal Express, the onus is on PTI supporter to prove that this video has been edited, since they are the ones who have made the allegation.

When you accuse, you have to provide proof. However, it appears that it works the other way round for PTI supporters.

Mamoon (I'm assuming that this is not a doctored video).
He may have misspoken about Germany and Japan, but he's not too far off the mark. The German Empire had a significant presence on the Japanese border for quite some time in the late 1800s and early 1900s (look it up). And they had tense "border" relations for some time during that period. He is probably referring to that, admittedly in loose terms. And he is probably also referring to the free trade agreement between Japan and the EU--the biggest free trade zone in the world. The point he is making is that trade cements relations between nations. This is a valid point and it was the main message in this clip.

Looks like Imran Khan's attacks on Nawaz Sharif and zardari has upset so many people who are now trying to prove Imran Khan is as stupid as their leaders.

Imran Khan used France and Germany's example many times before and had a slip of tongue for once (said Japan instead of France) and that becomes pleasure moment for admirers of parchis and duffers :))

IK should stop being so apologetic and defensive. He should have mentioned Iranian terrorism in Pakistan and Kulbushan Yadav who got to Pak from their country.

As for Imran saying "Iran suffered from groups operating from Pakistan", again patwari journalists just used part of his statement and made the 5 second clip viral which is obviously another dishonest attempt to justify their leader's disgusting attacks against own country.

Imran Khan talked about attacks carried out by groups on both sides of borders against each other. Pakistan also handed evidence of terrorists based in Iran murdering 14 innocent civilians in Ormara, Balochistan.

Once again, it's extreme dishonesty to compare what Imran Khan said with Nawaz Sharif.

Imran Khan: Both countries have suffered from terrorism from terrorists operating from other side of border.

Nawaz Sharif: Should we be sending terrorists to kill people in Mumbai

Now compare the two, one is saying in general terms there shouldn't be any attacks on innocent civilians and we know both countries have suffered admitting there has been attacks from Pakistan side on Iran as well. I am shocked that some people can't see the difference?

You know what people criticise Nawaz Sharif for? Being Pakistan's Prime minister and not standing up for his own country. Didn't Imran Khan speak about peace with India as well? So much so that some people even thought he deserved Noble peace prize (i personally don't think he did anything to deserve it yet) but in his peace efforts, he never failed to present Pakistan's point of view and consistently reminded people how much Pakistan has sacrificed and how Pakistan is a victim of terrorism. He even said that to Trump which is exactly what you expect from leader who represents your country.

Compare that to Nawaz Sharif who only uses these statements to take jibe at own agencies because somehow they are responsible for his corruption and money laundering.

Nawaz and Zardari probably don't even know Germany and France fought wars with each other, leave alone the post WWII peace dividends in a unified Europe...

Shireen Mazari accepted it was a slip of the tongue in parliament. So that's that.

'This is not funny anymore': PM Imran's statement in Iran comes under intense opposition attack

Prime Minister Imran Khan's public acknowledgement in Tehran that terrorists had in the past misused Pakistani territory to undertake attacks against Iran, and other statements concerning foreign countries, came under a blistering attack by the opposition in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari defended the prime minister, saying his statement was being quoted out of context.

In an unprecedented, albeit bold, move, Imran while speaking at a joint press conference with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani after their bilateral talks on Monday had said: “I know Iran has suffered from terrorism [perpetrated] by groups operating from Pakistan. …we [need to] have trust in each other that both countries will not allow any terrorist activity from their soil. We hope this will build confidence between us.”

The rumpus started when PML-N MNA Khurram Dastagir Khan drew the attention of the house towards the reported statement of the prime minister regarding the use of Pakistan's soil against Iran.

"No prime minister has ever made such a confession on foreign soil," Dastagirsaid, adding that only a day earlier, "the foreign minister had stated that terrorists had entered from Iran to carry out activities in Balochistan."

He said the International Monetary Fund has already linked the bailout package for Islamabad with the findings of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

"Pakistan is exposed internationally by such statements," the PML-N lawmaker said.

He recalled that Imran had previously suggested that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s re-election could help reach a settlement over occupied Kashmir, and alleged that the premier in a public meeting had said that "he could shake hands with Modi but not the opposition". He also accused the prime minister of having said previously that the Pakistani military had created militants.

"The prime minister has committed diplomatic blunders," the PML-N leader alleged. "Through his statements, the [premier] has hit national security."

He said the opposition was not terming Imran "a traitor", but that he needs to come to the house to give an explanation.

PPP MNA Hina Rabbani Khar, who has previously served as the country's foreign minister, was unforgiving in her criticism of Prime Minister Imran's statements.

"We are worried for the country after seeing it being continually ridiculed, and not for ourselves," she said. "This is not funny anymore. You cannot play with the destiny of the country anymore."

Addressing the house, Human Rights Minister Mazari said the opposition had quoted only the first part of the premier's statement.

She said that after saying that Pakistan's soil had been used for terrorist activities in Iran in the past, he had said that terrorists had recently come from Iran to carry out attacks in Balochistan.

So when can I expect an apology?

You accused me of posting a fake video, but Shireen Mazari, Imran Khan’s Minister of Human Rights, confirmed that it was a slip of tongue, which means that she has confirmed that that video was not fake.

Don’t worry, a simple “I am sorry” will suffice.

On another note, Parliament is a disgrace. All sides are a joke. No grown-ups at all. Pathetic fish market-esque behaviour.

Shireen Mazari accepted it was a slip of the tongue in parliament. So that's that.

The point is that PTI supporters have the tendency to automatically assume that any news that puts Imran and PTI in a bad light must be fake and fabricated, and any news that puts Nawaz and Zardari in bad light must be automatically true.

Actually that wasn’t what he meant, Shireen Mazari has confirmed that it was a slip of tongue. A silly mistake and he needs to be careful in the future. You cannot go to other countries and make statements like these.

Not only opposition but even India is having a field day over this.

Sometimes it's true... Remember the saplings and CMH Pindi? But obviously not always.

Oh dear. Interesting.

Also, what do we do with him now? He has been left red-faced and should apologize to the public for falsely claiming that the video is doctored.

He was probably working on editing the video when Shireen Mazari accepted that it was a slip of tongue. One can only imagine his self-inflicted and well-deserved humiliation.

So amazing that Maryam, PPP, PMLN, Dawn, Tribune decide to pick lines to suit their agenda. Imran Khan talked about attacks being carried out on BOTH side of the border and mafia distorts the statement to make it a confession.

The mafia doesn't even care about consequences of such distortions and spinning, all they care about is serving their corrupt masters.

OK i will apologise if you apologise for the saplings. That seems fair

So IK makes a slip of the tongue, Mamoon jumps for joy, then cites a video confirming it was a slip of the tongue, and wants an apology.

Who needs enemies of Pakistan when we have the likes of Mamoon.
