We often make fun of or are just left awestruck by Intikhab Alams longevity. He has been involved in Pakistan cricket in one way or another since 1959 and it often makes you wonder how is this even possible.
However even Intikhab cannot beat time and his involvement in Pakistan cricket will come to a natural end someday
However there is another guy who seems ready to be taking his mantle. Since starting his domestic career at the age of 12 ( still a world record) he played for Pakistan and domestic cricket till the early 2000s.
However immediately after his retirement he started coaching in NCA in 2003 and became the head of NCA in 2004 and later 2007. His time there presided taking care of and coaching talented cricketers from our two under 19 World Cup winning squads and some luminaries included Sarfaraz, Khalid Latif, Anwar Ali, Umar Akmal. His work with bowlers especially turned out to be disappointing as Apparenlty super talented youngsters like Irshad and Anwar Ali lost their zip or just lost their way. He specifically changed Anwar Alis action and the result was he turned into a harmless trundler
He was then variously appointed as bowling coach, assistant coach etc etc as part of the national senior cricket team. He has taken academy and A team on tours aswell and has recently been involved with UAE.
From all reports he will be the next Pakistan coach. He has been involved in and around cricket and particularly Pak cricket got a good part of 30 years now.
Is he the next Intikhab alam in this respect?
