No wonder opposition to the military gets shut down. Got to hand it to the Generals, they have an iron grip, and it will take more than a few poorly educated or naive maulvis to topple them. This is why they should avoid politics since they have no idea of worldly affairs and the machinations which drive them. All they can do is lead people into fitnah-al-hindustan like the Taliban.
The Generals have done well acting as a mafia and creating a whole network of enablers by offering crumbs. Its all good until it isnt and the whole thing crashes. At the point they head for Australia, Dubai and Portugal and the 250mn will have to pick up the pieces

Sanaullah rules out talks with banned TLP

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Friday ruled out any negotiations with the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), saying the group had been "created in a bid to cut into the PML-N's vote bank".

Earlier, the Ministry of Interior has issued a notification declaring the TLP a proscribed organisation, placing it in the First Schedule under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997. Now a reference will be sent to the Supreme Court through the Ministry of Law.

Speaking on a private TV channel programme, Sanaullah, in response to a question regarding TLP's future as a political party and whether it was being kept as an option to be used against rival political parties, agreed that TLP had been used in the past for that purpose and went on to quip that "it was created to steal votes from the PML-N's vote bank".

However, the adviser denied that the TLP's current fate had anything to do with its previous use as a proxy group, stating that "it was up to the federal cabinet to decide on any dissolution plans".

"I am not in a position to talk on behalf of the cabinet," he said, expressing optimism that the decision to dissolve the party will be made.

When asked if the government was open to negotiating with the now-banned group if it provided any assurances, citing TLP's 2021 ban and its subsequent lift, Sanaullah responded, saying, "I think there can be no reassurance after you have already violated reassurances that were made previously".

He stressed that "any party, whether political, religious, or academic, involved in terrorist activities is liable to be banned under clause 11b of the Anti-Terrorism Act".

The Punjab government on October 16 requested a ban on the TLP. This request was approved by the federal cabinet on Thursday.

The interior ministry's notification states that the federal government considers the TLP involved in acts of terrorism, and under Section 11B(1A) of the ATA, it is being declared banned and included in the First Schedule.

Legal experts note that the First Schedule lists organisations proscribed under the ATA 1997.

Groups placed on it face complete restrictions on their activities, including opening offices, holding rallies, or participating in any public event. Their funds and bank accounts are frozen, and fundraising or financial assistance is prohibited.

Leaders and active members may face travel bans, while their media coverage and social media activity are also barred. Authorities can monitor such individuals by placing them in the Fourth Schedule to track their movements. Even rebranding under a new name is deemed illegal, and continuing activities under any name may lead to terrorism charges.

At least five peopleincluding a police officer, three TLP workers, and a passerbywere killed as law enforcement agencies carried out a major pre-dawn operation in Muridke on October 13 to disperse what officials described as "armed and violent mobs."

The crackdown came amid a multi-day protest march by the TLP supporters moving from Lahore toward Islamabad in what the group called a pro-Palestine demonstration.

In a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on October 16, it was agreed that TLP leaders and workers involved in the death of police officers and destruction of public property will be tried in anti-terrorism courts (ATCs).

The police claimed that during the Muridke crackdown, the TLP protesters resorted to violence due to which 48 police and Rangers personnel sustained injuries with 17 wounded by gunfire.

Rana has no auqaaat to say anything. The decisions are made way above his pay grade. When the Generals need these crooked maulvis, they will return.

According to reports Maryam has her security stepped as fears grow for her safety after the massacre last week. This is Munir scaring the crap out of her by murdering the TLP guys and putting all the blame on her. Mohsin Baig blamed the Punjab govt for the massacre.
This threat will continue until NS agrees to a 5 year extension and the forthcoming 27th amendment.

The Punjab cabinet on Wednesday ratified the ban on the proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presided over the cabinet meeting and approved the ratification.

Last month, the Federal government proscribed the TLP on the recommendation of the Punjab government following the violent clashes between the police and TLP supporters in Muridke in which eight people, including a policeman, were killed and over 1,600 were injured.

The Punjab government also handed over the administrative control of the mosques and seminaries erstwhile being run by the TLP to a group of ‘moderate’ clerics. The cabinet extended the scope of the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to the areas excluded from Tehsil Koh-e-Sulaiman and District Rajanpur. Grant-in-aid was also approved to enhance the capacity of federal and provincial law enforcement agencies.

The cabinet approved several new projects in the province including the recruitment of the “School Teachers Intern” programme in public schools and approved the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025. The meeting approved a subsidy under the “High-Tech Farm Mechanization Finance Programme”, under which the government would provide super seeders and other modern equipment at a 60pc subsidy.

Punjab govt forms 12 JITs to probe cases against TLP

The Punjab government has formed 12 joint investigation teams (JITs) to conduct the probe in several cases against the proscribed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), it emerged on Wednesday.

The development was notified by the provincial home department in similar notifications, of which 11 are dated November 6 and one was issued on October 31.

According to the notifications, seen by Dawn, the provincial government ordered the formation of five JITs under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 for as many cases registered against the TLP in the Sheikhupura district. Of these, four cases have been registered in the Muridke tehsil and one in Ferozewala tehsil.

Another seven JITs have been formed to carry out the investigation in as many cases registered in Lahore. Of these cases, three have been registered in the Nawankot area, three in Shahdara Town and one in the Ravi Road area.

In Sheikhupura, each JIT would have six members, including a Superintendent of Police (SP), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Station House Officer (SHO), Investigating Officer (IO), a representative from the Counter-terrorism Department (CTD) in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and any co-opted member.

While in cases lodged in Lahore, each JIT is to have five members, including SP Investigation, DSP Investigation, IO, a representative from CTD in the rank of DSP and any co-opted member.

The notifications further added that the “convener of the JIT shall depute one of the members of the JIT, for the purpose of submission of the report,” as required by Section 19(1) of the ATA 1997.

Crackdown on TLP

In recent weeks, the Punjab government has intensified action against the TLP following a ban imposed on the party after a violent clash between TLP protesters and law enforcement personnel in Muridke last month.

In the aftermath of the Gaza ceasefire plan, the now-banned group launched a protest march in support of Gaza and Palestine, planning to reach Islamabad and stage a demonstration outside the US embassy. However, the group’s movement was thwarted as violent clashes erupted, with reports of party workers attacking LEAs.

Subsequently, the federal government imposed a ban on the party at the request of the Punjab government, concluding that TLP was “involved in terrorism and violent acts.”

Meanwhile, authorities continue to look for TLP Chief Saad Rizvi and his brother Anas Rizvi, whose disappearance has seemingly baffled the Punjab police and other law enforcement agencies.

The TLP chief and his brother were marked as high-profile targets by the Punjab police for being wanted in more than 100 first information reports lodged against them.

On October 29, the duo, including 21 other senior TLP leaders, were placed on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) to prevent them from travelling abroad.

A senior officer in the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore told Dawn on Nov 13 that so far, Lahore police have reportedly arrested a total of the group’s 1,250 key members, including their financiers and the workers wanted in over 100 criminal cases.

The official said the provincial capital has been the hub of activities of the TLP’s top leadership and other workers for housing the headquarters of party.

So, the major focus of the police remained on arrests of the hardcore members of the TLP from Lahore.

A list of the targeted TLP members was prepared on the basis of the geofencing carried out in Lahore’s route that they had used to launch the march on Islamabad and in Muridke, where they had encountered the LEAs.

The second list provided to all the 85 police stations of Lahore was of the financiers, the police official said, adding that the crackdowns continued daily.

As per sources, the sufferings of the families of the ‘wanted’ TLP members have increased manifold due to the frequent police raids at their homes.

A majority of the families have locked their houses and gone into hiding to avoid a police crackdown.

On Tuesday, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari detailed that assets worth Rs23.40 billion belonging to the TLP had been frozen, along with 92 bank accounts linked to the organisation.
