He's been in sensational form lately, but do you think he's currently the best goalkeeper in the world?

No
Some silly mistakes recent ly. Even 1 2nte. Best shot stopper yes, best gk no

He is wonderful. Haven't seen much of Neuer but de Gea is quality. Deserves to play in a bigger team surely.

Keylor Navas is the best keeper on current form.
He's been stunning for Real Madrid this year.
DDG isn't far behind though.

I wouldn't throw Neur into the mix as he's been very average recently and has made numerous mistakes.

Neur by a distance, u got to remember both bayern and Germany both play a high line therefore both these teams leave neur exposed a lot, his instincts and attributes with the ball make him second to none

I wonder where Bayern and Germany would have ended without Neur. Too bad he was robbed from a Balon dor by Penaldo

...and DDG isn't.

DDG is the most exposed keeper from all top sides in Europe. MU would be mid table without him, this season and last season.

Neuer is great but well OVERRATED,

David de Gea: Manchester United hope to resist Real Madrid move for keeper

Manchester United hope to resist Real Madrid's attempts to sign goalkeeper David de Gea again this summer.

Real, who aim to become the first side to retain the Champions League when they play Juventus in Cardiff on Sunday, agreed a transfer deadline day deal with United for De Gea in 2015.

The £29m transfer collapsed because Real did not submit paperwork in time.

It is anticipated the La Liga winners will renew their efforts to sign the Spain international keeper.

De Gea, 26, was left out of United's Europa League final line-up on 24 May in favour of Sergio Romero.

United have noted reports in the Spanish media, which tend to be the prelude to a concerted effort to sign a player when a club knows negotiations are not going to be straightforward.

However, the Old Trafford club feel they are in a better position to reject Real than they were two years ago.

In August 2015, De Gea had just entered the final year of his contract.

His current deal lasts until 2019 and he also has the option to extend for an additional season.

Senior United sources also say De Gea has not asked for a move, or expressed any discontent with his present situation.

It has also been pointed out United do not have a track record of selling players they want to keep.

The loss of Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit for a then world record £80m, in 2009, is the obvious example of it happening, while it could also be argued United had 'sold' De Gea when they did not want to before the transfer was eventually scuppered.

He will move to Madrid either today or next year. Him being a Madrid player is imminent sooner or later

United fans should be disappointed if he leaves, Mourinho will probably sign Griezmann and a couple of others which should be enough ambition for Mourinho to persuade him to stay. They're also in the UCL which helps too.

Why are Real hell bent on getting him especially considering his Atletico connection?

Also Keylor Navas is a quality keeper himself

Why not?

He is only 26 and already in the top 3 keepers in the world, and probably the future captain of Spain with 100+ caps. In addition, he is from Madrid as well. He is the true heir of Casillas and he is destined to play for Real Madrid at some point. Much like Ronaldo, it is only a matter of when rather than if. As far as his Atletico connection is concerned, it doesn't mean anything to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid shouldn't buy him yet.Navas was fantastic in the second part of the season.Kiko Casilla is also a good keeper but obviously neither of them are De Gea's quality.Still, don't want Navas to play second fiddle to another guy.

David de Gea: Man Utd set to activate one-year option on contract

Manchester United are set to trigger the one-year option on goalkeeper David de Gea's contract to avoid any uncertainty over his future heading into the January transfer window.

Spain international De Gea, 28, joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

His contract ends in the summer, which would allow him to talk to overseas clubs from 1 January and potentially sign a pre-contract agreement.

However, United have an option to extend the deal for another year.

De Gea's representatives are already working on the basis that his contract will expire in 2020.

As manager Jose Mourinho confirmed after Tuesday's 1-0 win over Young Boys, United are keen to hold on to the keeper, who has won United's player of the year award four times in the past five seasons.

It is understood De Gea is open to the idea of remaining at the club, although as yet, there has been no agreement on terms, with De Gea's camp mindful of the enormous salary United agreed to pay Alexis Sanchez when he joined from Arsenal 10 months ago.

It looks more and more like he will be gone at the end of the season.

Madrid spunked their money on inferior Courtois but even De Gea has been very flappable lately.

Oblak is best keeper in world right now.

Always a pleasure to see the massively overrated De Gea getting owned. Calling him the best GK in the world is laughable. Apart from reflex saves, he is very mediocre. Nothing more than a glorified Pepe Reina.

Is he was part of Spain team in wc18?
Spain goalkeeper was very very mediocre and commentators always praised him during the matches for nothing

Yes he was. Man United supporters are masters of hyping their players, but De Gea has shown nothing in Europe and on the international stage to justify that the claim that he is the best goalkeeper in the world. He is not even the best in England. Allison and Ederson are both comfortably better as all-round goalkeepers, and Ter Stegen is easily the best in the world.

What is your view about Navas?

I personally find him the best goalkeeper of La Liga.

Probably the most underrated goalkeeper in the world. His crime is that he is Costa Rican and never played for a major club before Madrid, and in spite of putting in stellar performances, they have always viewed him as a temporary solution before they get their hands on a flashy goalkeeper (Courtois).

He is on par with Oblak, but Ter Stegen is the most completely goalkeeper in the world in my view. He can do everything that they do and more.

Nightmare performance tonight.

Looks like a man who has already moved to Real Madrid.

He's just declined massively like Neuer. It's strange because he's not had many injuries like Neuer has from what I remember. Even you said it yourself in this thread a couple years ago,it was looking likely he'd be the next Real Madrid keeper. To be honest, he couldn't have done worse than Courtois...

Not looking good in the Man U v Chelsea game!

Horrible mistake today.

Still can't believe he's still first choice.

Horrible game for DDG yesterday vs Chelsea.

This is not the first time he has made errors, it has happened in quite a few games.

Man United will probably replace him next season.

There was a time he was the best shot stopper in the world. He’s probably not even top 10 in the premier league now.

The best in the world is between Oblak and Alisson.

Ter Stegen and Alisson are better all-rounder GKs than Oblak, and they are at the same level.

Oblak is equal to them in terms of pure shot stopping though.

looks like he needs some time away, still young for a keeper and has been injury free, seems to have a mental block - i think he needs to go somewhere else to rediscover himself. Will be difficult to sell with the wages hes on, should loan him out, back to spain or Italy then sell him next year and bring back Deano.

According to Mark bosnith he has technical flaws
He was at fault for all 3 goals at the weekend
Maybe the defence needs to tighten up too but I think he also needs some time to himself to recover and get back to scratch

He hasn’t been the same since the 2018 World Cup humiliation. That disastrous campaign mentally destroyed him.

He went into the World Cup as the best GK in the world apparently, but could not make a single save for Spain on the big stage.

West Ham 1-0 Man U:

A howler from David de Gea!

West Ham take the lead with their first serious attempt as the ball breaks loose for Said Benrahma who drives at Manchester United's defence.

Behrahma lets fly from outside the box and it looks like a routine save for De Gea but the ball somehow spins into the net after the keeper fails to push it clear.

There's probably at least 38 goalkeepers better than De Gea in England. :)))
