This raises questions about whether England may be underestimating Pakistan, as the Pakistanis have a history of performing well when expectations are low.

Yes. They might be in for a surprise. I don’t see Pak winning 3-0 because they don’t have the gas in tank nor England being that superior to white wash Pak but 1-1 for sure and 1 test will go either ways or be a draw. Not counting for weather.

i dont think they are underestimating, they are estimating pakistan based on their skills, performance, and ranking. So it is all good.

The fitness of Pakistan bowlers will come into question. England batters will always start well with Crawley and Duckett and the bowling needs to be relentless with accuracy and pace. This is what India did in the series which got England to make mistakes. If the bowlers tire after the first spell, England aren't going to just throw their wickets away to some medium pace wayward bowling. Pakistan need to maintain their intensity through day even if England get to a 5-6 runs an over start in the first session which they did multiple times against India. If they don't they will end up conceding 400 runs in a day.

Actually after seeing this team getting thrashed by Bangladesh, we can say that Pakistan underestimated them and there is no chance that England is underestimating Pakistan. They cannot, why? because this team has been under the dirt for years now and there is nothing to be estimated about this team.
