Both PCB and BCB planned this plot several months back...... as both pakistan and bangladesh teams were getting consistent shameful defeats from Team India.

1) if Mistafizur was dropped by KKR, its a KKR's internal decision. BCB is having no right to interfere in the matter as KKR signed contract with mistafizur and not with BCB. Thereafter as per plan BCB raised security issue on playing matches in India with ICC.

2) Pakistan backed BCB's requests by provoking them. ICC turned down BCB's request by 12-2 mandate. BCB pulled out of WC.

3) Thereafter Pakistan somehow to hide their face they boycotted India's match against ICC's decision. On the contrary Pakistan should have boycotted all matches with 12 nations who voted against BCB.

4) By this boycott decision taken by Pakistan, there will be 70% reduction of ICC funds to Pakistan

To answer OP's question, pakistan probably knows very well that this Ind side is too strong and the possibility of pulling off a win is quite small. Pakistan is just using this opportunity to hurt India, that's all. Golden opportunity like this doesn't show up at the door step often. India is one of the host, boycott the match, India looks bad as a host (even though the match is in SL). PAK wants ICC or BCCI to beg, using the opportunity to just inflict some sort of financial damage. Probably not going to end well for them later after the WC but I gotta hand it to Pakistan, lol. Pretty much took an advantage and added some drama to the WC.

I tried hard to comprehend but could not find a valid reason why Pakistan want to boycott the India game.

Surely, security cant be the concern as the match is scheduled to be played in Srilanka.

Showing solidarity with Bangladesh dont fly either. They should have boycotted the entire tournament if that was the case.

Balochistan movement cannot be the reason as well since Pakistan just played 4 times in last 11 months against India.

The only reason I could think off is recenf Asia cup bashings at the hand of India and 7-0 in the last seven encounters forced them to wave the white flag.

Even I admit that Ind vs Pak match in any ICC tournament is important. But not for the BCCI. It's important for the ICC and the rest of the boards that depend on ICC handouts for their cricket to survive.​

If a team loses to the same team three times in the same tournament, then playing against the same team has many physical effects on that team. Pakistan is not going to recover from Those Humiliation Phainta.

Pakistan still hasn't boycotted the match yet. And the ICC is trying it's best to pursue PCB not to boycott that match because a lot of boards depend upon ICC handouts for their cricket to survive. Not to mention ICC too needs the money generated from that match.​
